So strange I ended up writing this when I'd planned to write E/G. This was something Min asked me about ages ago, after I finished Secret Garden, and I told her I had no idea how Erestor and Elladan got together but if they ever told me, I'd write it. Hi! This was the last AinA story I read (not by any particular design, just coincidence) and I'm happy it was saved for last! It was really funny, but I also loved how you characterized Thranduil - with a kind heart in the right place. I could go on for a while on all the great scenes... the hobbit chase was one of the best and Boromir - hot!! Great fic! Thanks for having it here, at the LoM

Well worth the wait! This was such a lovely coming-of-age story. I think you nailed Carnistir's voice perfectly - the voice of a grown man remembering his past, yes, but never in a maudlin manner. Love the little details, especially the food allergies/intolerances, which really made him real for me, right as the story started.

I love this! The OFC POV is very fresh and with few strokes you paint very well the climate of fear and oppression. It left me with a very vivid image of what it would feel like for a low class Numenórean at that time, not really being able to afford a choice for one side but with no enthusiasm for the other. If feels very true to life - makes me think of memoirs of civil wars and especially of the Cultural Revolution, for some reason. The barely-there relationship with the unnamed woman was a poignant note too. Thanks so much for the entry.

I have no real objection to your thinking of Lalwen here, except that some of the words would have to be re-interpreted slightly (as it was intended to say that all this happened before Morgoth returned to Middle-earth, that is before Lalwen ever entered Beleriand).
