Elvish words you might need: ada - father nana - mother Cold Chapter 1 / 5 "Let us leave here, I cannot stay any longer, it disgusts me far too much to see ada like this. He shouldn't do such a thing, he should honor her!" Grey eyes mirrored each other, searching their equals and they found them. Of course the decision was made now. The older twin would leave and he wouldn't go alone as both of them were scared about being without the other. Things had changed so much already and they couldn't bear the thought of being without the other now. "He does nothing to deserve your disgust," Elrohir said quietly. Elladan looked at him, but didn't reply. Both of them knew that they would never settle that argument as they were far too sure that their own thoughts were the truth and too stubborn to admit that it was possible that their brother was right. "Let us leave before we change our minds." The younger twin nodded, sad that his brother was against telling their father of their plans. But he didn't want to upset him further. It was obvious to him that it wasn't the right time to discuss what they were doing and he decided to leave a short note in the stables while his brother collected their horses. He smiled until Elladan had turned around and waited for a short moment, before he was sure that he wouldn't return all of a sudden. Quickly he took out a paper and started to write a short note when he heard steps behind him. "What are you doing?" Elrohir tried to hide the note behind his back and smiled, receiving a stern and suspicious gaze in return. "Well?" The younger twin flinched at his brother's hard voice, unsure if he should upset him further by denying that he had tried to inform their father without asking Elladan. However the slightly dimmed eyes and the frown on the well-known face told him that he did better if he told his twin immediatly. "I was writing a note to inform Ada that we are leaving Imladris for a while," Elrohir said calmly, trying to convince Elladan that his deed hadn't been that terrible. But he had actually not expected it to work and it didn't, as Elladan furiously took the paper from his hands and tore it into pieces. Then he violently grabbed his brother's arm and pulled him towards the horses, without a further word. "Are you going to stay on Maglon's back or do I have to tie you?" Elrohir turned around, offended by both the harsh sound of his twin's voice and the stupid question. He had never tried to get away, but whenever he tried to make sure that their family was informed of their deeds Elladan saw it as something wrong, as if it was disloyal that he didn't want their father to worry about them. In Elladan's eyes all those acts showed that he wasn't happy about being alone with his twin. When he noticed that his twin actually expected a reply to his question he sighed and shook his head. "I would never leave you alone, Elan, you should really know that by now. But why don't you understand me? Ada will be worried if we are leaving without telling him where to and you know it perfectly well. Perhaps he will even send guards like five years ago when he feared that we had been captured." Elladan just glared at his brother and gestured for him to mount his horse. "There is no need to tell ada, he will not miss us any longer. Nana is gone, he doesn't care about our destiny any longer. And why should he? There isn't anyone he would have to explain to why we died." Elrohir, who had been about to mount his horse, froze for a moment and then turned around and stroke his brother across the face. Elrond and Elladan had never gotten along too well, but this was going too far. "You will take that back immediatly, my brother or I promise that you will regret it." Silence fell upon them while they glared at each other, once again grey eyes matching each other, both in look and stubbornness. It took a few moments until Elladan lowered his head, knowing that he couldn't really win this fight. "I am sorry, Elrohir, I shouldn't have said that." Then he quickly turned around and mounted Sycvan. Elrohir rolled his eyes and wondered once more why he never really made his twin apologize in a serious way, but something told him that it was impossible to expect that. "Where are we going anyway? Do you wish to hunt Orcs again? That's such a stupid idea, brother. We could be of much better use if we would stay here. This revenge doesn't bring us anywhere and the rangers.." Elrohir paused, knowing that he, too, wasn't allowed to go too far in uttering his opinion, not even around Elladan. Although they were just humans, even though a few of them were of the noble blood of their uncle Elros he didn't like them much. However, Elladan did and if his twin liked someone he was supposed to like them as well, no matter what he thought upon the topic. Though he personally would have prefered to stay close to their father and inside Imladris instead of traveling around with the rangers. But his twin had decided to move and he knew he couldn't go on without him as he knew the helpless feeling of seeing a family member suffer. He shuddered at the thought of the lifeless gaze in Celebrķan's eyes when they had found her. She had been pale and thin, nothing like his beloved mother. And even though he didn't admit it, Elrohir knew that it had broken Elladan's heart to see her like this. It had always been like that, Elladan had always adored his mother and he had prefered to spend his time in the library, watching their father and his advisors play chess or discussing politics instead of spending his time with Celebrķan. Elrohir shuddered when he looked at his brother, at the cold hate in his eyes while he was thinking on their mission, on the revenge he needed so much. Sometimes he feared that his twin's love had departed with their mother, either when they had ridden to rescue her or when she had left to Valinor. And it scared him terribly to think that the still pretty body didn't hold the spirit he knew any longer. Chapter 2 / 5 They had ridden for several hours and Elrohir had given up his hope that they might meet some of the soldiers of their father or anyone else he could secretly inform to make sure that Elrond wouldn't be too worried. The deep silence between them wasn't new, it had been between them for years, even centuries, not just since their mother had been captured by those Orcs. Far earlier when Celebrķan had started to visit her parents more often. Elladan had wanted to go with her and Elrohir had wanted to stay at home and their relationship had suffered just as much as their parents'. Of course they still loved each other, Celebrķan and Elrond still loved each other as well, even though their mother had departed for the havens. But when they had been younger all had been so much easier, they had played and laughed together and if they had fought they had seriously told the other what they were feeling. Now it was quiet and the silence scared him just like the pale face of their mother had scared him. And Elladan blamed him, he blamed him just as much as he blamed Elrond, Elrohir knew that he did. He was scared of the thought of blaming himself far too much and so he searched the mistakes in everyone else's deeds. It had always been like that if something went wrong. Elladan was scared of feeling guilty and blamed others, even though sometimes things just happened, but his brother couldn't see that noone was too blame for the capture of their mother, noone but the Orcs maybe. But even those monsters hadn't been that terrible, they had just done what they had thought right, it wasn't their fault that their leader had created them and Elrohir didn't doubt that somehow the Valar had planned this and that everything what had happened had been right in the way it was, no matter how much it pained and scared them and no matter how difficult it was to get along with Elladan ever since. And suddenly he just felt too exhausted to go on. Elrohir wanted to go back, hide behinds his books and feel the soothing and sad laments that were sung about his mother ever since she had departed for Valinor. He longed for the desperate, loving hug of his father that proved him that he was still needed. But Elladan denied that they had a choice, that they were welcome in their father's realm. He claimed that they were on their own, that they had to take revenge until evil had been destroyed for ever, until the prophecies had been fulfilled and they could go to Valinor to find their mother. "Please, let us have a rest, brother, I cannot go on," Elrohir pleaded, but Elladan shook his head. Of course they would go on, they would go on until they had found the rangers and joined them again. It would take some time, maybe some of the older fighters had died until then. But immortals didn't need to worry about time, they just had to ensure that they didn't kill themselves. And Elrohir needed to ensure that his twin wouldn't do anything foolish. Even though he was the younger brother he had always felt that responsibility. There was just a little difference between taking a punishment for him and trying to keep him alive during his insane hunt. Especially not if he didn't even allow them rest. "I cannot fight if you do not allow me to rest, I cannot aim my bow if I'm too tired to hold it," he tried to sound convincing but Elladan just impatiently rolled his eyes and shook his head. They would go on and Elrohir wondered why he hadn't known that Elladan didn't intend to stop for the night. Suddenly Elrohir heard voices and sighed, unsure if he was relieved or annoyed that they had found them already. The rangers were about and it wouldn't take long until they had reached them. That meant they would rest now, of course, as mortals seriously needed their sleep if they were supposed to fight on the next day, but on the other hand Elrohir felt no desire to see them. He had never liked them much and he couldn't understand why Elladan had been so obsessed with them ever since he had explained to them that they needed to form a party if they wanted to survive. "Elladan! We heard that your mother left," Naran called and Elrohir flinched in anger when he saw how his brother took those stupid, senseless words inside of him. He had spent days, kneeling next to his twin and stroking his hair. And he hadn't gotten a word in reply, Naran, however got a honest, almost loving smile. Something Elrohir hadn't gotten since almost two centuries. Naran turned to him. "Elrohir, we really feel for your loss." Elrohir clenched his hands to fists and gritted his teeth. He wouldn't reply to that, he just couldn't do that if he didn't want Elladan to become upset. They knew nothing of his loss. And neither did they know anything about Elladan's. But if he told them Elladan would become angry at him, he had tried that already and he remembered it well enough. His brother could become rather rough and there was no need to display that Elladan was so much stronger than he was. His twin didn't seem to notice anything or if he did he ignored it. He just dismounted and stepped forward and hugged Naran and a couple of his closer friends and sat down with them without paying any attention to his brother. Elrohir closed his eyes, trying to calm the pain that flushed through him. Silently he dismounted and leaned against a tree. There wasn't much he could do and even though he knew that he could have stayed up to overtake a watch he decided against it. "Don't you want to join us?" Aniac's voice was far too friendly for his opinion and he wanted to shake his head, to ignore them and the way they were treating his brother like one of them. He wasn't jealous of Elladan, he didn't want to share him with them and he couldn't see the way they were permitted to hold him close. "No I do not want to join you," Elrohir hissed and suddenly became away of his brother's glare. But he didn't care anymore, Elladan couldn't treat him like a pet which had to obey if it was told to. However he couldn't endure his brother's stare either and turned to leave when he suddenly felt a hand on his shoulder. "You are forgetting yourself, dear brother." Elrohir turned slightly as he hardly reconized his brother's voice. But it was Elladan who was sneering at him, he had gotten up and pulled him back a little. The younger twin shook his head. "I was forgetting myself when I followed you out to these rough, stupid men." Elrohir prepared to duck but Elladan didn't try to strike him, instead he felt the grab upon his shoulder become harder. "You will come with me now, Elrohir." Chapter 3 / 5 The younger twin allowed his brother to pull him away without putting up a fight. He prefered the idea about settling their argument without the prying eyes of the Rangers upon them. And seemingly Elladan thought the same as he made sure that they were long out of hearing range of the mortals before he roughly pushed his brother to the ground. "What did you think when you insulted them like that? They have feelings, you know!" Elrohir felt like replying that their father had feelings as well and Elladan had never cared about them. But he didn't as he knew that his twin was enraged already. There was no use in trying to convince him that they were just as careless as the other. Especially not while Elladan was enraged like that. He flinched when he saw the angry glare he received. Although he hadn't said a word Elladan seemed to become more angry with every passing moment. "You are jealous of them, aren't you?" Elrohir bit his lips, unsure if Elladan knew just how true his words were. Of course he was jealous, Elladan was his brother. Not Naran's not Aniac's... HIS brother. And he hated being treated like a dog that was brought around to keep company to another until he had found friends he could talk to instead and then set to watching the camp and wait until the owner felt alone again. He didn't like the tone of his brother's voice though. And tried to get up again, only to receive a painful kick against his knee. "You will stay where you are, Elrohir and you will speak to me. If my friends aren't royal enough for you, I surely am. I am still older than you are." Elrohir bit back a bitter laughter. Of course he was the younger brother, he knew that well enough. But still it scared him when Elladan sat down on his thighs and glared down at him. It had been years since his brother had studied his face so closely and he was afraid about what he might find. There was far too much that could be revealed by a close look of those eyes. Far too much secret knowledge of the feelings between them. Of those that had existed a long time ago, when they had cuddled during long, rainy nights. And he almost leaned into the painful grasp of his brother's hand, no matter how hard he tried to seem relucant. "You like this, don't you, Elrohir?" Elladan laughed at him. "You are actually calling them rough and stupid and want me to touch you like this." Elrohir closed his eyes, trying not to listen to the mock in his twin's voice. He didn't want this, not like this and not here. But Elladan was right that he had longed for this touch for years, he couldn't deny that. Just not in this way, he had wanted it different, loving and sweet, not rough and careless. He just didn't have much of a choice as Elladan was stronger than he was and Elrohir didn't want to hurt him. Not if he could still hope that his twin hadn't gone totally mad. When Elladan bit his neck he moaned in reply to the touch, even though he flushed from the way he enjoyed the pain. He just couldn't believe that the Valar really wanted them to do this, but if they didn't they would have found ways to stop it. And Elladan surely didn't intend to do that as he impatiently pulled on the ties of his brother's clothes. "I will claim you as mine, brother and if you do not plead with me to stop now I will not, do you understand me?" Elrohir nodded, scared of the way he wanted this touch, even though it was not in the way he wanted it. He just couldn't deny this as he knew that it might be the only way to get back his brother. It was a prize he could pay, submitting to Elladan was far better than submitting to one of his stupid ranger friends. And now wasn't the time to think of the consequences of their deed. He lay back obidiently and helped his twin to open their clothes. "Turn around now," Elladan commanded and Elrohir followed, relieved that his brother took away his control about the situation, the way it made him relax that he couldn't just chose what to do but had to do what he was told instead. "And now spread your legs for me like you do for all those fine, pretty Elves back in Imladris." Elladan's hiss made him shiver, just like the anger that had returned as suddenly as it had vanished. He obeyed without question and his brother roughly grabbed him around the waist. And then, without any warning he felt his twin's cock slammed into his body and heard the angry, yet pleased groaning above him. It seemed to burn him from the inside and he gasped in pain, trying hard not to cry out too loudly. This was still his brother, not a stranger not a ranger, this was his brother. He concentrated on all the sweet words that had been spoken between them and the way they had touched the other so gently before all those fights. But even though the pleasure took over after a while, as his brother seemed to know exactly how to take him, he couldn't help but cry silently. Yet this was what he had asked for, this was what his body seemed to need, even though he tasted blood inside his mouth. It scared him and made him wish to run from this, from the woods, even from his brother. But he couldn't deny that his shaft was hardening, that he was about to spill his release even though his brother had made him submit like that. And he moaned at the mixture of pleasure and pain, unsure which sensation was stronger inside of him. He followed his twin into release, spilling himself to the ground beneath them with a stifled scream just as he heard his brother and the mere sound scared him. The way it sounded like a yell of victory more than like a groan of release. It took moments until he felt the grip on his body losening and Elladan finally pulled out of his body again. Chapter 4 / 5 "I have hurt you," Elladan whispered, unable to hold back his tears. His hands shook violently as he reached for their clothes and tore it into parts in order to clean away his release as well as his brother's blood. "Please forgive me," he whispered over and over, terribly scared by the way his temper had taken over but Elrohir just shook his head. "There is nothing to forgive, Elladan, you gave me a choice, remember? I wanted you like this." Elladan shuddered as he finished the cleaning. "Why? Elrohir, why didn't you ever tell me that you were innocent? I would never have hurt you like this, I didn't know that you were untouched." Elrohir sighed and pulled his brother close before he could flinch away. "Elladan, I wanted you to be my first, I wanted this for years. I could have easily seduced another, but I wanted you. Perhaps not like this, but it had to be you or noone." "You should have told me. I... I can be gentle and careful, I would never have done this if I hadn't thought that..." Elladan shook his head, unable to finish the sentence but both of them knew what he meant. The older twin had been jealous, just like his brother. Of the advisors, the scribes, the librarians. Of everyone he assumed his twin to get along with. Just like Elrohir had always been jealous of the Rangers. But with less reason. Elladan had shared his bedroll with the other rangers for years. Especially with Naran. He had even spoken about it at times, making his brother feel even more miserable. While Elrohir had just once kissed Erestor, receiving a hard slap by Glorfindel in return. Their mentors loved them dearly, but the thought of one of twins interfering with their relationship wasn't taken kindly by either of them. "Stop crying like this, you never feared anything Elladan, did you?" Elrohir whispered softly, hoping that he would be able to remind his brother of his usual attitude. A weak grin appeared on Elladan's face. "But I did. I never dared to admit that I love you, I was scared that you might tell me to leave you. And I was scared of ada's reaction. You... are you disgusted by me now, Elrohir?" The younger twin shook his head and pulled his brother closer. "I am not disgusted by you. It wasn't like I wanted it to be, but I could have told you. We are both to blame for allowing this silence between us, by holding back and keeping secrets from the other. But I know that you wouldn't want to hurt me. Just leave this to rest, there is still hope left that the Valar will not turn us down after they allowed this to happen." Elladan starred at his brother. "You cannot seriously mean to tell me that you accepted this because you thought it is what the Valar wanted you to do." When Elrohir nodded he sighed deeply. "Elrohir, please promise me that you will never, no matter what happens, accept that the Valar want to see you dead and get yourself killed, do you understand me? They are wonderful beings, I do not doubt that, but I don't think that they are giving us permission to go against their laws like this." Elrohir shrugged and it took a long, wordless duel of their eyes until he nodded. "I promise that I will try my best not to get killed, even if the Valar seem to want me to die, are you happy now?" Elladan shook his head. "I would be happy if I hadn't done you wrong, if nana was still around and... but I am less scared now that you said that you will try to forgive me." "I already forgave you. But... Elladan, we have to speak to father. If he finds out on his own he is going to throw us into the dungeons until we leave Arda," Elrohir whispered, trying to sound convincing. Elladan nodded obidiently, obviously eager to do whatever pleased his twin now. And for a moment Elrohir considered to ask him to tell the Rangers that they would never again return to them. But he couldn't do that. He knew far too well how much Elladan needed this independance and he didn't want to use his brother's guilty feelings like that. There were other ways to make sure that his twin didn't enjoy their company more than his, if he just planned it carefully and made sure that his brother didn't forget about this again. And he silently prayed to the Valar that their father wouldn't forbid this, suddenly wondering if it was a good idea to ask the Valar for help in this case. Like his twin had already told him, this was something that was against the law of the Valar, so perhaps, just perhaps it was time to set lose some beliefs. He kissed his brother's hair and held him close, unwilling to let him leave ever again. Still there was silence, but Elladan looked at him now, scared of his request to tell their father. "I... do we have to tell him, Elrohir? He will be disappointed. He always told me to bind myself to one of Thranduil's children." Elrohir nodded knowingly. Of course their father had thought it a good idea to ask his children to bind themselves to the royal children from other realms. But he knew that Elrond would accept this if he had to. Even though it was wrong he was sure, well almost sure, that his father wouldn't deny them to be in love. He just had to accept this, now that he was almost sure that Elladan hadn't intended to treat him wrongly. When the rain started to fall upon them Elrohir suddenly felt very naked and hugged his brother closer once more. "We should be returning to the camp before they become worried and search us," he whispered to his brother. And Elladan nodded, unhappy to let his twin and the feeling of being save go again like this. "Elrohir, I promise we will go back to see ada, we will manage to do this. But let us not tell them. They wouldn't understand this." Elrohir nodded, happy that his twin was finally thinking the same as he did once more. Chapter 5 / 5 They returned to the Rangers as soon as they were dressed. And against Elrohir's hope the situation hadn't changed much. His brother returned to Naran's side and they whispered to each other and he felt Aniac's mocking glances every now and then. When he saw Naran pull Elladan into his arms he wished for some Orcs that would aid him in getting rid of his brother's friends. And the wish increased when he noticed that they had actually decided to rest now. He barely kept himself from screaming when he saw the arms of his brother around the foolish man. Nothing had changed, he had been stupid to believe such a thing. Elladan had just felt guilty and had wanted him to feel better, had wanted to calm himself. They wouldn't leave to see their father, they would stay among the rangers and he would be forced to watch Elladan with Naran. He lay down, as far away from them as he could, as he knew that he would need the sleep to have enough strenght for the next day. Suddenly, however, his ears picked up a sound, a loud whispering, obviously loud enough to be picked up by the ears of any elf, or at least by any elf who was still awake. "His back seems to hurt, doesn't it?" Elrohir immediatly reconized the mocking tone of Aniac's voice. A low chuckle announced that the man he was talking to enjoyed their conversation. "Yes, I presume Elladan finally taught him some manners again. Think that he got to feel that lovely belt their father gave to them?" Elrohir tried hard not to listen to them, but he failed. Those Rangers were talking about them. They were discussing their private life and seemed to enjoy the thought that he had been punished. He bit his tongue, trying hard not to tell them off, not to show them that they hurt him. "I would love to try that. This foolish, arrogant little elf. With his hands bound against a tree and showing me his naked back. I don't doubt Elladan's methods, but I think I would have enjoyed it more than he did." Obviously the other ranger was Fetirm, one of those which had often annoyed Elrohir with their amused glances. And suddenly Elrohir noticed that they weren't inside the camp, they had left it, their voices came from another direction. When he turned, careful not to show that he was still awake he noticed them and dug his nails into his skin in order not to scream. Fetirm had pushed Aniac against a tree and touched him... but he didn't stop talking. He revealed every part of his dirty thoughts about what both Aniac and he could do if they were only left alone with the cocky younger prince of Imladris. When they started kissing each other Elrohir turned away in disgust. Only human were nauseously enough to enjoy the thought of hurting their fellow beings. Desperately covering his ears he tried to ignore the moans and the groans that became louder, but shuddered in disgust when he heard his name from their lips. These men had been his brother's lovers, both of them and still it didn't keep them from thinking of him like that. Slowly he crawled away both from the camp and those men and barely managed to hold himself long enough not to fall into his own vomit. When he woke in the morning he felt his brother pull him up. "What did I tell you about leaving the camp?" The older twin demanded fiercely and slapped his shoulder. "I've been worried when I got up and couldn't find you anywhere." Elrohir shrugged and received a more serious slap this time. "What were you thinking?" Suddenly the younger twin glared at his brother. "I was thinking that I didn't like the idea of watching you make out with Naran while Fetirm and Aniac were discussing how much they wanted to claim me," he shot back angrily and tried to get rid of his brother's grab. But his twin didn't let him go, instead he pulled him closer. "Elrohir, if any of them would hurt you I would kill them, believe me. We just cannot have them know of this. Noone should know until we spoke to ada." For several moments Elrohir panted, trying to shot back that he didn't care what the stupid rangers thought of them. But he did and he knew it. "I... I will try not to murder them, alright?" He whispered after some time and Elladan nodded. He felt a gentle pinch, something his brother hadn't done anymore since they were children and he leaned into the touch, desperate to prove to Elladan that he was what his brother desired. "Let.. let us go and see ada, please!" It took several moments until Elladan nodded and he quickly pulled his arm, trying to get him back to their horses as soon as possible. And as soon as Elladan had said goodbye to Naran, far more lovingly than Elrohir would have thought necessary, they rode home to meet their father. Elrond glared at both of them when they entered his rooms, but allowed them to speak though. He listened to them silently and just his deepening frown showed that he was still paying attention. When the younger twin had ended he studied them in silence, obviously not too happy about his children's request. Once he was finished with looking at them he thoughtfully starred into the air for a while before he spoke. Elrohir almost smiled when he noticed his father's expression. He knew that their father wouldn't forbid it. They could live freely now and their feelings could be displayed openly. And Elladan could break his relationship with Naran without thinking that the other rangers might become suspicious. "You both know that you are doing wrong against the law of the Valar, but I cannot lose the children my beloved wife gave to me by banning you from Imladris," Elrond waited for his children to calm their relief before he continued. "But you will tell nobody about this, if I allow you to live like this you will remain silent, you will bind yourself if I chose a mate for you and you will never dishonor my realm by sharing your beds here, did you understand me?" Both twins nodded obidiently, trying not to show that they were dissapointed by their father's decision. They couldn't ask him for more, he already allowed them far more than the laws of the Valar did. "We understood you, ada," Elrohir whispered and Elrond nodded silently, before he hugged his younger son, knowing that he couldn't expect any loving gesture from his other son. "I love you, both of you, but I cannot tolerate such acts here in Imladris, do you understand?" He whispered to Elrohir, afraid of Elladan's reaction upon those words and was reliefed when the younger prince nodded. "Yes we understand that, thank you, ada," he replied silently. The supporting hand of his older brother suddenly rested on his shoulder. "Do not worry, ada, noone will ever notice. We will just go on like we did up to now." Elrohir barely kept himself from flinching. Glaring at each other, enduring the lusting talk of the rangers, watching how Elladan displayed his love for Naran very openly and all that for a few, hurried kisses and a making out in the mud. He sighed and kissed his father's cheek before he reluctantly left his side. "Of course we will manage to do that," he whispered and tried to sound as happy as possible. ~The End~
