Elrond went through the motions everyday, meals, council meetings, meeting with Erestor and Glorfindel and going over inventories. The running of the household, which had always been Celebrian’s task, was given to Erestor and everyone understood. There were no events or celebrations in the future, so Lindir had no real reason to work constantly with the minstrels. Erestor had gladly given him tasks that would help with the running of the household. They received letters from Arwen and occasionally border guards from the elven realms spotted Elladan and Elrohir. They had not returned home and Lindir knew this was weighing heavily on Elrond. Many tried to approach Elrond after he returned from seeing Celebrian off, but they quickly learned to leave him alone. Lindir found it very difficult to sleep most nights and had taken to walking the halls after the house grew quiet. He loved to walk in the gardens and especially Celebrian’s garden where he had spent so many afternoons with her. One night he sat on a bench that was under Elrond’s balcony. He heard sobs coming from the chambers and longed to go and offer so comfort to his lord, but thought he would not be welcome. Lindir sat for many moments and finally thought of something that may help. He ran into the house and returned with his harp. He began playing a soft melody and after a few songs, the sobs stopped and Elrond slept. The next morning, Elrond walked to the breakfast table, appearing more rested than he had in months, and placed a firm but gentle hand on Lindir’s shoulder and smiled. “Thank you, meldir.” Lindir smiled in returned and nodded. This became the routine, Lindir played outside Elrond’s balcony, giving his lord the only comfort he could. Years went by and Elrond remained in his shell. He went through his routine each day but very little else. Erestor, Glorfindel and Lindir all worried that he would fade from grief if something was not done. “I will write to Celeborn and Galadriel and see if they can convince Arwen to at least come home for a visit if nothing else.” Erestor opened an inkpot to begin writing. “Where were the last reports of the twins being sighted?” Glorfindel asked. “I believe they were near Mirkwood but that was several months ago. They could be anywhere.” Erestor added. “I will take a small patrol and make for our borders and see if any trace of them can be found.” Glorfindel stood. “Do you think we should send word to Mirkwood, as well?” Lindir glanced at both of them. “I think that would be a very good idea. Would you like to write that, meldir?” Lindir nodded. “Glorfindel, may I ride with you? I feel the need to get away. I will ask one of the other minstrels to play for Lord Elrond if needed.” “You are more than welcome to ride with me, pen neth. Come; let us get things ready to go.” He kissed Erestor. “We will see you at dinner, my love.” Lindir and Glorfindel left the next morning just before dawn. They rode for two days and arrived at the eastern border outpost. They spoke with the guards posted there and were excited to learn that Elladan and Elrohir were there several weeks prior. The twins had told the guards they would return soon. Lindir and Glorfindel stayed at the outpost for three days. Lindir decided to do some “scouting” and walked into the forest. As he walked along a narrow path, he was alerted to movement up ahead. He crouched down in some brush and waited. As the sound of horse’s hooves came closer, Lindir smiled at the familiar sound of the twins chatter. He listened and was glad to hear them actually teasing each other. Just as they were within a foot of him, Lindir stood and cleared his throat. Before he knew what had happen, Lindir found himself on his back with steely grey eyes peering down at him. Both had their blades drawn and at his throat. Lindir grinned after he saw the recognition in their eyes. “You know, this could be a very erotic position I find my self in, were not for the blades at my throat.” Elladan and Elrohir sheathed their blades and smiled. “Sweet Elbereth, Lindir. We may have killed you.” They offered their hands to help Lindir stand. “Oh, but what a way to die; underneath my beautiful former pupils.” They snorted and grabbed him in a tight embrace. “What are you doing here, meldir?” “Looking for you. Glorfindel is at the outpost.” “Is something amiss, Lindir? Why would you come all the way out here?” “Your father, Elladan. He needs you both. Elrond is not well and we fear we are losing him.” Lindir explained. “We do not think we are ready to return. We have not completed what we set out to do.” Elrohir looked at his feet as he spoke. Lindir became incensed. He balled his fists and glared at them. “What do you mean you are not ready to return? I have just told you your father is fading and he needs you. I know what the two of you are trying to do. You think that somehow killing every Orc will make it easier to deal with your guilt and the thought of losing your mother. Well, it will not. I can tell you, you will never get over losing her.” Lindir was furious at them and tears fell. “You will miss her every moment of everyday for the rest of your immortal lives. Until you are reunited with her in Valinor, you will miss her. There will be days when you remember her more for her smile, kindness and beauty. Then there will be days when you will see nothing but her pain, hear her screams and cries.” They stood watching Lindir pace and they too had tears in their eyes. “Do you think you are the only ones to have ever lost someone you love? You are not. At least you still have family. You have your father and sister and your grandparents. You still have much too live for.” “With the help of your father and sister, you family and friends, you will cope. You will not feel the rage and guilt as much as you do now. You will feel the love and your hearts will be lifted.” Lindir began to calm slightly and turned to see them holding each other and crying. “Tell me now, pin nith. If your father fades while you are out here trying to exorcise your demons. Whom will you blame? There will be no Orcs to hunt to avenge his death.” Lindir took a deep breath and then stepped forward to hold them. “Come home, Elladan. Come home, Elrohir. Your father needs you. We all miss you. Please, come home.” The three of them cried and sunk to the ground. Elladan and Elrohir cried for their mother and father and Lindir cried for his dear friend and his parents. Glorfindel had heard the raised voices and walked in their direction. He stood far enough away to hear them, but not close enough to be detected. Glorfindel could not help but find tears in his own eyes as he listened to Lindir. He too had lost so much in his first life. Before Lindir and the twins began walking to the outpost, Glorfindel made his way back to reach it before them. Erestor had received word that the party was arriving in the courtyard. “Elrond, come with me please. There is something that needs your attention.” “Erestor, I do not feel like going anywhere. You handle what ever it is. I trust you completely.” “Elrond, you stubborn half-elf, get up off your arse and come with me to the courtyard.” Elrond raised his eyebrows and grinned. “You are very bossy, meldir. Very well, I will come with you.” They walked arm in arm to the courtyard and Elrond was looking at the ground. “ADA!” Elladan and Elrohir both exclaimed as they ran to the house. Elrond’s head snapped up as he heard them call his name. “Elladan, Elrohir, is that really you?” They ran and embraced him as their tears fell again. “Yes, ada. We are home.” “Thank you, my sons. I have missed you. I was not sure I could go on without you. Thank you for coming home.” Elrond collapsed in their arms and Elladan picked him up and carried him into his rooms. Erestor, Glorfindel and Lindir stood watching the reunion with cautious optimism. Glorfindel turned to Lindir and hugged him. “Lindir, if it had not been for you, they may not have returned.” Glorfindel smiled at him. Lindir furrowed his brow. “Why do you say that, meldir?” “I heard what you said to them when you found them near the outpost. I had forgotten about your parents. I am so sorry.” “Thank you, Glorfindel. I am glad they are back. Perhaps now things can at least begin to heal.” The next month, Arwen arrived and Elrond began to come alive again. There was once again, smiles and laughter in the Last Homely House. The healing had begun. Thranduil smiled as he read Lindir’s latest letter and wrote his response. I am very happy for you, sweet Lindir. May happiness always be yours. Thranduil He then stood and walked to the entrance of the caves to watch Legolas and Orophin come into view. It had been a couple of years and he was excited to see him again. “Legolas, ion-nin, you look wonderful.” Thranduil embraced him. “It is good to see you, ada.” Legolas kissed his father on the cheek. “Orophin, how are you? You look very happy, as well.” Thranduil hugged his son’s husband. “I am well, my lord. Do you remember my brother, Haldir?” Thranduil looked at the Marchwarden and smiled. “Of course, I remember Haldir. Welcome, marchwarden.” They greeted each other as warriors. Thranduil regarded Haldir for a moment and then they turned to walk into the caves. Thranduil had left his guests to rest and prepare for the evening meal. For some reason he could not stop thinking of Haldir. While he never disliked the Galadhrim, he had never been a friend, either. Haldir always seemed aloof, distant and arrogant. Thranduil knew he had the right to be this way. Haldir was a born warrior and leader who was respected, by not only his guards, but also Lord Celeborn and Lady Galadriel. At dinner, Thranduil could not keep his eyes off Haldir. They had dinner in the private family dining area so the setting was much more intimate. Haldir, for his part, was not making this easy on the king. Haldir took every opportunity to make eye contact with Thranduil. Legolas and Orophin only had eyes for each other, so they did not notice the exchange going on before them. When dinner finished and more wine than necessary had been consumed, Legolas and Orophin bid them good night and staggered out of the room. Thranduil watched them leave, smiling at how happy his son was. “More wine, sire?” Haldir’s voice brought Thranduil back to the present. Thranduil smiled at Haldir and shook his head. “No, I think I have had too much as it is.” Haldir snorted. “I have too. The room is starting to spin.” He took a deep breath trying to clear his head. He had truly enjoyed dinner and the laughter they had all shared. Haldir had always found the Mirkwood king alluring but never felt the courage to approach him. Now that Lindir was out of the picture, perhaps he could take the chance. He did not know where it might lead but he was ready to find out. Thranduil watched Haldir and wondered what was going through his mind. They eyed each other for a long time, each trying to read the other. Haldir was sure that he saw desire in the king’s eyes and Thranduil dared to hope Haldir would not think him foolish for what he was about to do. They both sat up and stood at the same time, intent on going to the other. They grinned and began to laugh as they realized they shared the same goal. Haldir walked to Thranduil. “Sire, may I escort you to your chambers?” Haldir offered his hand. “Haldir, I would be honored.” Thranduil took his hand and they walked out of the dining room. They fell on the bed as they torn each other’s clothes off. This would not be a gentle joining of sweet lovers. They both felt the raw primal need flowing between them. Their hands, fingers, legs, lips and tongues battled for dominance. They rolled on the bed pushing and pulling, thrusting and grinding. Thranduil finally had a fist full of Haldir’s hair and jerked his head back. He watched Haldir’s eyes become even darker with passion as he leaned forward and whispered. “Take me, marchwarden.” Before he knew what had happen, Thranduil was on his back, Haldir’s fingers were coated with oil and breaching his entrance. Without a word, Haldir prepared Thranduil, watching the wide range of emotions playing across his face. He positioned himself and took the king lips in a passionate kiss while slowly sheathing himself inside the king. Thranduil threw his head back and moaned loudly at the feeling of being filled so completely. Haldir moaned as well as he began to thrust slowly at first and then more aggressively. He set a relentless pace, feeling as though this was exactly what Thranduil wanted and needed. The king clawed at Haldir’s back and shoulders. He circled Haldir’s waist with his legs and pulled his lover tighter to him. “Harder, Haldir. Yes, more!” Thranduil panted. “As you wish, my king.” Haldir sat up on his knees, hooked his arms under Thranduil’s knees and began to pound into him relentlessly. The king took his own arousal in hand and began to stroke it in time with Haldir’s forceful thrusts. They watched each other as they both found release crying out into the night. Lindir had excused himself to get some fresh air and now sat on the balcony watching Elrond and his children in the Hall of Fire. They were laughing and telling stories of things they had done as children. Erestor and Glorfindel sat there also, laughing and joining in the storytelling. A sudden thought came to Lindir and he became sad. Arwen, Elladan and Elrohir would never accept another in their father’s life. Would he ever be able to tell Elrond how he felt? Had Celebrian considered her children when she told Lindir to love Elrond? He would not cause them more pain than they had already experienced in their young lives. Lindir quietly walked out of the Hall of Fire undetected and retired to his chamber. As quickly as his happiness was found, he could feel it slipping away again. Title: The Lord’s Minstrel 19-20/?? Twenty years later… Arwen, Elladan and Elrohir were swimming in the river and doing what they did best, conspiring. The elder elves had decided they had had enough of the water and were currently all lying in the sun. “What are we going to do about them?” Arwen looked at her brothers. “I do not know. Look at them. They cannot stop looking at each other.” Elrohir motioned to Elrond and Lindir who were lying near each other talking and laughing. “I do not think either of them will make the first move.” Arwen shook her head. “Perhaps, we should make it for them.” Elladan smiled. “Why do you think Lindir will not approach ada?” “Maybe he thinks it is too soon.” Arwen knew that look on Elladan’s face. “What are you thinking, ‘Dan?” “I think we have been watching them dance around each other for the last five years and that is five years too many as far as I am concerned. It is time one of them took action,” he grinned. “Whether they know it or not.” “Oh, I like the sound of that. What should we do?” Elrohir smiled, always in agreement with his brother’s deeds. “Yes, count me in. What are we going to do?” Arwen was almost giddy. “Come to our room tonight after the evening meal. I have a plan.” Arwen nodded and they continued their swim, all feeling very proud that a plan was in motion. Erestor watched the three young ones and nudged Glorfindel. “They are up to something, meleth. Look at those faces.” Glorfindel eyed Arwen and the twins and laughed. “I hope we are not the target this time.” “I do not think we are this time. They seem to be watching Lindir and Elrond.” Erestor shook his head. “They will not even know what hit them.” “What do you think they are up too?” “I cannot be sure, but Arwen was questioning me the other day about, if I thought her father would ever take a lover again. Perhaps they have found him one.” “If it is not Lindir we must put a stop to their plan. It would break our sweet minstrel’s heart.” Glorfindel worried and took Erestor’s hand. “I do not think we have to fear it being anyone else. I would like to help them.” “Erestor, I do not think Lindir or Elrond would appreciate us getting involved.” “Oh hush, my love. It will be fun.” Erestor wiggled his eyebrows and Glorfindel rolled his eyes. The next afternoon, Arwen spotted Lindir in the wildflower garden. As she watched him, she remembered a conversation with Celebrian before she sailed. Her mother had told her that she wanted Elrond to be free to love again. She explained that she would release him from their bond and after a time, she wanted him to love another. Celebrian told Arwen that her father had always loved Lindir and he had loved Elrond but the timing was never right and they had each gone on to love others. Now she wanted Arwen and her brothers to allow their father to love again and love Lindir if they found their way back to each other. While it was strange to hear this from their mother, they understood and agreed. “Meldir, you look well today. How are you feeling?” Arwen smiled and sat next to him. “I am well, fileg-nin. How are you?” I am feeling very good, Lindir.” She smiled and Lindir had the distinct feeling there was something going on, so he played along. “What brings you to this garden, my princess? You usually are in the rose garden.” “Well, I have been thinking about ada.” Ok, so this is about Elrond, Lindir thought to himself. “What is wrong with your father, pen neth? Is there something I can help you with?” “I am not sure. I was thinking it is time ada found love again.” Arwen almost laughed, as Lindir’s eyes grew wide with shock. “Arwen, I think your father will decide when it is time to love another. He loved your mother so much, he may never love again.” “Oh, he will love again, I am sure of it. I was just trying to decide who.” “Are you trying to pick someone to be with Lord Elrond?” Lindir was almost panicked. “Well, I do not think he will make the first move, so I thought I would help move things along. Now I just have to decide who.” She tried hard not to let Lindir see her grin. She could see his anxiety building. “Do you have any ideas, Lindir? It would have to be someone very special, someone who would love ada and never hurt him. It would have to be someone who would love only him and pledge their life to him.” Lindir had to stop her. No one could love Elrond as much as he would. She could not find someone else. “Arwen, what about your brothers, are you all ready to have someone else love your father? Could you accept someone sharing his life, love and…um…bed.” “Lindir, Nana released ada from their bond before she sailed. She wanted ada to love again. So, of course we want ada to be happy. Elladan and Elrohir have also noticed, while ada is much happier these days, there seems to be something missing. We think it is love.” Lindir could feel his heart pounding and he felt light-headed. Was it really time for Elrond to love again? Lindir wondered, after all that had happen and all the time that had past, could Elrond love him. “Do you think your father is ready to love again?” “I am sure of it. He may not admit it readily, but I have seen him watching someone. I think he is already in love, though he may not realize it.” Arwen smiled and wondered if Lindir was catching on. “He has been watching someone? Who is it? Do you think they love him? Arwen, it cannot be just anyone. Your father is so special and deserves someone who understands just how special he is and knows his needs.” Lindir was gripping her hands tightly, trying to make her understand. Arwen smiled and cupped Lindir’s face in her hands. “I know and agree whole-heartedly with you. So, when are you going to tell him?” Lindir’s mouth dropped open. “Tell…tell him…what?” Arwen laughed and kissed Lindir’s cheek. “He will not be easy to convince, meldir. I think you will need to court him and take him by surprise and I will help you.” “How did you know?” “Lindir, you have always loved ada. We all knew it, even nana.” Lindir bowed his head and tears filled his eyes, but this time they were tears of joy. Lindir looked up at Arwen and smiled. “Well, fileg-nin, any suggestions?” Arwen threw her arms around Lindir’s neck and whispered. “As a matter of fact, I do.” Elladan and Elrohir had convinced their father that they needed to go fishing and he must go with them. “I am so glad you convinced me to come with you. This was a wonderful idea.” Elrond grinned as he put another fish on their already full stringer. “Ada, there is another reason we wanted to spend this time with you.” Elrohir eyed his father cautiously. “I know and have been waiting for you to tell me why.” Elrond chuckled. “Ada, we love you and we think it is time that you found love again.” Elrond choked on the water he was drinking. “Come again, ion?” Elrond wiped his chin. “Ada, it had been long enough. Nana released you because she wanted you to love again. So do it.” Elladan smiled hopefully. “It is not that easy. I loved you mother very much. She was my heart and cannot be replaced.” “We do not expect you to replace her. Nana said your heart was big enough to love another. If she knew it then it is true.” “Will you let me think on it, please?” “Yes, but do not take too long. We may have to step in and pick for you, ada.” Elladan laughed. “Please, if I love again let me choose. If you choose I could be bound to, Eru knows who or what.” Elrond laughed and then looked back at the river flowing by. Was it really time for him to move on. It still hurt to think about it, but he did miss having someone special in his life. Then he thought of his sweet Lindir. Had too much time gone by? Was there too much distance between them? Could Lindir love him as he once did? Completely trusting Erestor, Lindir shared the conversation he had had with Arwen and asked Erestor’s advice. “Lindir, I think you should court him. Let him remember what it is like to be in love. Young, impetuous love.” Erestor put his arm around Lindir’s shoulders. “That is what Arwen suggested. She said I should write him letters and give him flowers, seduce him.” Lindir snorted. “It just seems strange. Do you think Elrond would like that?” “I think anyone would like that. Wouldn’t you?” Lindir smiled and blushed. “Yes, I would.” “Then I think that is what you should do.” Lindir’s smile grew larger s he left Erestor’s office and began formulating his plan to win Elrond’s heart. This time, he would succeed. Chapter 20 Chapter Summary: This is the drabble I wrote that started this journey. Lindir takes a chance. Elrond sat at his desk going through the daily correspondence. When he finally reached the bottom of the stack, he noticed a folded note he had not seen before. His senses instantly heightened. He slowly opened the note and his eyes opened wide. The note simply said…Could you? It was not signed and he did not recognize the writing. Rubbing his forehead, he stared at the words. “Could I what?” He tucked the letter into the pocket on his robe and left his office. Elrond walked the hallway to his chambers to rest and prepare for the evening meal. He did not see the beautiful eyes following him from the shadows. He also missed the grin on the face that the eyes belonged to as he drew the note from his pocket to read it again. Elrond was very distracted during dinner. “Elrond, is anything wrong? Can we help you with something?” Erestor asked with a concerned look. Elrond stared at his friend for a moment, “No, meldir. I am tired. I am going to retire. Good night, to you all.” They all watched as he left the hall. “I wonder what has Lord Elrond so upset.” Glorfindel sipped his wine. Lindir looked back after Elrond had left. “He does not seem upset, just distracted.” Elrond entered his chamber and took his robe off, letting it fall to the floor. He walked to the balcony and breathed deeply. “Could I what? Who would have left that note and what does it mean?” He shook his head and finished undressing. As he approached the bed, he noticed another note. It simply read…Would you? “Would I what?” He sat down on the bed looking at the note. He took the first note out of his bedside table and stared at them. “Could I, would I what?” He lay on the bed and placed the note on the table. “Someone is playing with me. Why would someone do this? It must be a joke.” After a fitful night, Elrond rose to ready for the day. Although he would have rather stayed in bed, he made his way to breakfast. Without even greeting anyone at breakfast, Elrond began running through a litany of things that needed to be done and assigning tasks. He asked no opinions and after eating quickly, left for his office. Once inside he looked around. There on his desk was another wretched note. He grabbed the note and threw it into the trash. He sat down in a huff and slumped in his chair, holding his head in his hands. Erestor knocked softly and entered Elrond’s office. “Elrond, what is amiss?” After receiving no response, he walked to Elrond and touched his shoulder. “Elrond, what is it?” Elrond did not move. “Are you doing it, Erestor?” “Doing what?” “Are you writing the notes? If you are, I want it to stop. I do not wish to be toyed with.” Erestor pulled a chair next to Elrond and lifted his chin, forcing Elrond to look at him. “What notes, Elrond?” Elrond removed the notes from his pocket. “These and the one in the trash.” Erestor took the letters and retrieved the one from the trash. “Have you read this one?” Elrond shook his head. “Well, perhaps you should.” Elrond took the note that read…Will you let me? “What do they mean?” Erestor read the other notes. “I am not sure, meldir. Do you think someone is trying to court you?” “Why would someone want to court me? I am old and set in my ways.” Elrond snorted, “Very true.” He looked at Elrond with a grin “Elrond you are also intelligent, strong, brave and beautiful.” His grin grew at Elrond’s blush. “You care for everyone here. You treat everyone as family. You are a fair and just leader, but most of all, you are kind and compassionate and loved by all who live here. Yes, you are right. Why would anyone want to be with someone like you?” “You think me all those things? You really think someone may want to court me?” “Yes, I do. I cannot think of any other meaning for the notes.” Erestor rubbed Elrond’s arm. “Enjoy it, meldir. It could be fun.” The rest of the day found Elrond much more relaxed. He decided to find out who left the notes and would make it a quest. He watched everyone going about their duties, trying to catch anything out of the ordinary. The evening meal was a much happier event than the previous night. Elrond laughed, smiled, and even flirted with everyone. When he had exhausted himself, he bid everyone good night and returned to his chambers. He was excited to see if another note had been left. He gasped as he entered his chamber. Many candles bathed the room in a beautiful glow and rose petals were strewn all over the room and bed. Elrond’s heart began to pound as he saw a note among the petals on his bed. He took the note with a shaky hand and read…Can I? “I do not know what they mean. I cannot answer unless I know what they mean.” Elrond whispered as he took a handful of petals and inhaled the aroma. From the corner of the room, shrouded in the shadows, Elrond hear a timid but familiar voice. “May I?” Elrond turned quickly to the voice. “Lindir?” Lindir walked to Elrond and took the note from him. Elrond looked down to see that Lindir held the other notes. Lindir was trembling as he handed the first note to the object of his desires. “Could you…care for me the way I care for you?” Elrond watched this beauty before him. He longed to comfort Lindir as he could see and feel his unease. Lindir handed him the second note. “Would you… love me the way I love you?” Elrond raised his hand to caress Lindir’s cheek in hopes of calming the beautiful minstrel. Lindir looked into Elrond’s eyes as he handed him the third note. “Will you…let me hold you and love you?” He then handed the last note to Elrond and took a deep breath. “Can I…,” a gentle finger to his lips stopped his words. Elrond dropped the notes and took Lindir’s face in his comforting hands. “Say no more, Lindir. I have your answer.” He leaned forward to place a gentle kiss on Lindir’s trembling lips. He drew back and looked at the sweetest eyes he had ever looked into, “Yes…Yes…Yes…and yes.” Each answer punctuated with another kiss. Your wonderful feedback and encouragement has kept me writing and has been most appreciated. THANK YOU!! Chapter Summary: FINALLY!! Elrond brushed away the tears that slid down Lindir’s cheeks and smiled. “I dared not dream you were the one. I thought I had lost any chance that you still loved me as you once did.” Elrond embraced Lindir and buried his face in his hair, inhaling deeply. “My Lord, is this really happening? Do you really love me?” Lindir voice choked with his tears. Elrond pulled back enough to look in Lindir’s sweet eyes. “Yes, my sweet Lindir. I love you. I have always loved you.” He then kissed Lindir. It was the kiss Lindir had dreamed of, hoped for and he willingly gave over to Elrond. Lindir wrapped his arms around his love’s shoulders and moaned as Elrond thrust his tongue into his mouth. Lindir’s heart was pounding and head was spinning. Was this actually Elrond’s body against his? Were these Elrond’s arms around him and were these Elrond’s lips kissing him? Lindir had to break away or risk fainting. “Lord Elrond, I am sorry.” Lindir backed away and covered his lips with his fingers. Elrond watched the scared minstrel backing away. “I am sorry, Lindir. It was too fast, I know. Forgive me.” Lindir grinned and shook his head. “It is just more than I dared hope for after all this time.” “I understand.” Elrond turned and poured them each a goblet of miruvor. “May I make a toast?” Lindir nodded. “To new beginnings.” “To new beginnings, my lord.” “Lindir, please call me Elrond. I think we are past the formalities.” He took Lindir’s hand and let him to the sofa. “Let us take this a little slower.” Lindir pulled on Elrond’s hand to stop him. He drank all the miruvor in his goblet and pulled his lord to him. “No, my lord, I mean Elrond. I do not wish to slow down. I have dreamed of being with you like this since…well, before I should have been thinking off you that way.” Lindir blushed and Elrond chuckled. “I am afraid to stop, afraid this will all be a dream and I will wake up to soon.” He took Elrond’s goblet, setting it on the table and cupped his face, kissing him passionately. Elrond was surprised but happy with Lindir’s response and moaned as Lindir began pulled his robes off and rubbing his hands along his back and sides. Lindir backed Elrond to the bed as their clothes found their way to the floor. Elrond stopped when his legs hit the bed and took Lindir’s hands. Elrond stared at Lindir, his eyes gazing over his whole body. Lindir glowed in the candlelight. His violet eyes shimmered and his hair shined, astounding Elrond. Lindir watched his lord, friend and soon to be lover. “Elrond?” Elrond smiled and shook his head. “I always thought you beautiful but seeing you here, this way, in this light. I am in awe of you.” Lindir lowered his eyes but Elrond beckoned him to look at him. “I love you, my Lindir. I will always love you and never again will I be the cause of your sadness.” “I will always love you, my Elrond.” Elrond lay on the bed, slid over and pulled Lindir close to him. They took their time discovering each other’s bodies. They knew they would have countless other moments to spend touching, but they would not rush this first time. Elrond pulled Lindir, by the hip, closer to him and they both gasped as their arousals touched for the first time. Lindir had difficulty controlling his emotions. This was a moment he had longed for and now that it was happening, he was overwhelmed. Elrond spread butterfly kisses over the minstrel’s face, jaw and down his neck. Lindir let his head fall back and then rolled to his back as Elrond continued kissing him over his chest. Lindir arched when Elrond took a nipple into his mouth, suckling gently then flicking his tongue over the bud. He slowly made his way to Lindir’s abdomen and his groin. Elrond inhaled Lindir’s scent and was intoxicated immediately. Lindir’s hands instinctively went to Elrond’s head and he fisted the black hair. “Elrond, please. I need…I want…too much. Please.” Lindir mumbled and thrashed his head from side to side. Elrond looked up at his young lover. Lindir seemed to become more beautiful with every passing moment they were together. “What, my love. Tell me what you want.” Elrond whispered. “You…I want…I want…I do not know…just you, Elrond. I need you.” “Then that is what you will have. Always, my love. You will always have me.” Elrond took Lindir’s hard, throbbing shaft in his mouth and devoured the minstrel. “Oooohhhhh!” Lindir arched into the heat, forcing his erection further into Elrond’s throat. Elrond began a slow assault on the arousal in his mouth. Slow strokes, then faster, only to slow down again. He brought Lindir to the edge repeatedly before finally sending him over. Elrond took Lindir deep in his throat and hummed around the minstrel. Then he sucked hard as the pulled up on Lindir’s erection. Lindir arched his body sharply and shot his seed into and down Elrond’s throat. Lindir’s body shook and as Elrond lapped any stray seed away, he smiled and reveled in the knowledge that this time he was the reason for Lindir’s undoing. He crawled up the gorgeous body beneath him thinking, now he would be the only one to cause Lindir’s undoing. Lindir wrapped his arms around Elrond and kissed him deeply, tasting himself mixed with Elrond’s flavor. “Will you take me, Elrond? I have dreamed of having you buried deep inside of me.” Elrond growled and sucked on Lindir’s neck, marking him as his own. “It will be my honor and my pleasure, my sweet Lindir.” Elrond reached into the bedside drawer for oil he used for his hair. He coated his fingers and lowered his hands to Lindir’s hidden ring of muscle, circling the opening and carefully pressing his finger inside. Their never took their eyes away from each other. As Elrond continued to push his finger in and then out of Lindir, making sure he coated the hot passage, he rubbed Lindir’s chest and abdomen, whispering affectionate words. He bent to take Lindir’s lips as he added another finger and thrust his tongue into Lindir’s mouth as he added a third. Lindir pulled away from the kiss, panting. “Please, Elrond, now. I am ready. Please, do make me wait any longer.” Lindir pleaded, while caressing Elrond’s face. “As you wish, my love.” Elrond lined his erection with Lindir’s opening and thrust until he was fully sheathed inside the minstrel he loved. They moved their hips together, Lindir meeting Elrond thrust for thrust. “Oh, Lindir…so tight…so beautiful. Perfect.” “Yes, melethron. We were made for each other.” Lindir clawed at the sheets as Elrond took his erection in hand and stroked him firmly. “Elrond, I am so close. Come with me.” “Now! Let go, my love.” Elrond cried as he thrust deeply and filled his essence into Lindir’s tight passage. Lindir’s body tightened and his seed shot across his stomach and chest. Elrond fell on top of Lindir who embraced him as the basked in the passion of their love. Moments later, Elrond rose, retrieved a cloth to clean them, and pulled the sheets back, encouraging Lindir beneath the sheets and lying next to him. They cuddled close, kissing each other and caressing. “I love you, Lindir.” “I love you, Elrond.” Elrond’s children along with Glorfindel and Erestor sat at the breakfast table, all grinning from ear to ear, very proud of themselves. They said nothing, just exchanged knowing glances, raised eyebrows and smiles. Two chairs were noticeably empty and the vacancies at the table could not have made those present any happier. Lindir and Elrond lay in the bed sharing breakfast. They had made love repeatedly during the night and had no plans to leave the bed any time soon. Lindir chuckled and covered his mouth. “What?” Elrond inquired, loving the look in Lindir’s sparkling eyes. “This all turned out better than I had hoped. I was not sure you would wish to be courted or even ready to accept someone in your life.” Elrond reached and caressed Lindir’s cheek. “Lindir, I know there were long years that you and I were not close, at least not as close as we had been. I must tell you now that I never stopped loving you. It was not until you found another that I would admit to myself that I loved you and was jealous. Celebrian made it all right to admit this. She understood and never judged me for what I felt was unforgivable.” Lindir leaned into the touch and turned his head to kiss Elrond’s hand. “You made the right choice when you chose her. She loved you so much and gave you three wonderful children. She helped make Imladris what it is today. It is a true testimony of who she is and how much she meant to all of us.” “Thank you, my heart. While I wish I had never caused you any pain, I do not regret any of my time with her. Now though, I know where my heart always truly lay,” he moved his hand to lie over Lindir’s heart. “Here is where my heart lives and where it belongs.” Lindir placed his hand over Elrond’s heart. “As does mine, meleth.” One year later, in the courtyard, the residents of Imladris gathered for a celebration. The bonding of Elrond and Lindir was a joyous celebration with all who loved them in attendance. Orophin and Legolas stood with King Thranduil and his husband of five years, Haldir, all smiling at the happy couple. Glorfindel and Erestor stood near their friends with their arms tightly around each other. Also present were Lady Galadriel and Lord Celeborn, who were both very happy for their son-in-law and Lindir. Elrond’s children stood by his side beaming with happiness that their father had once again found and accepted love. Arwen held the newest resident on her hip. “Awen, ada look vewy happy.” Estel whispered rather loudly. Everyone chuckled. “Ada is very happy, Estel.” She kissed the side of his head. “He is smiwing but he have tears in his eyes.” Estel cocked his head as if trying to understand. “Those are tears of joy, sweetling. Sometimes when we are so happy, it fills us up and we just cry. You need not worry, ada and Lindir are very happy.” “Me happy too. I wuv you, Awen.” Estel grasped her cheeks with both pudgy little hands and kissed her. Elladan leaned over to the boy. “Ewww, Estel that is your sister.” Estel giggled. “Yes, she is and I will kiss her if I want too, ‘Dan. I will kiss you and ‘Ro too.” Elrohir snorted and tickled Estel before kissing his cheek. “You may kiss me anytime and if ‘Dan will not let you kiss him, I will hold him down for you.” This statement sent Estel giggling loudly and as the ceremony ended, Elrond and Lindir kissed to seal their bond. During the celebration, Thranduil asked Lindir to dance. “I am so happy for you, Lindir. This is how thing were meant to be.” Thranduil spun Lindir around the dance floor. “Thank you, meldir. You and Haldir were meant to be, as well. I could not be happier for all of us.” Elrond and Haldir danced to their mates and exchanged partners. Later Elrond and Lindir bid everyone good night. Estel watched them leave, barely keeping his eyes open. “Who gonna wead to me tonight, Awen? Ada, always wead to me.” “Would it be all right if I read to you, Estel?” Estel thought for a moment staring at Arwen. “O.K., Awen. You can wead too me.” He hugged her neck and laid his head on her shoulder as she left the Hall of Fire to take him to bed. Several centuries later, Elrond and Lindir stood on the deck of the ship that had brought them to Valinor. They anxiously scanned the crowd that gathered near the dock. Elladan, Elrohir, Glorfindel and Erestor stood next to them on the deck. Orophin, Legolas, Haldir and Thranduil had also sailed and shared the journey to Valinor with their friends and family. The only elves missing were Rumil and Lord Celeborn. The Lord of the Golden Woods was not ready to sail and did not know if he would ever leave the forest he felt was a part of him. Rumil vowed to stay with his Lord until he sailed or until they faded. They had become lovers after Galadriel had sailed and Rumil would not leave his love. Elladan began smiling and pointing. “Elrohir, look! There she is.” He took his brother’s hand and began running down to the dock and into the arms of their mother. Celebrian beamed and cried while she hugged her sons. Galadriel stood next to her daughter and hugged her grandsons. Elrond and Lindir approached them hand in hand. Celebrian walked to them and took each of their hands. “I was so happy when nana told me of your bonding. You both look wonderful.” She kissed each of them. “Celebrian, you look beautiful. I have missed you, but it is obvious you made the right decision. You are healed.” “Yes, I am, Elrond. Thanks to you, I healed physically and thanks to the Valar, I have healed completely.” She turned her attention to Lindir who had his head lowered. “Beautiful, Lindir. I am so happy to see you again. I have missed our lunches in the gardens. When you and Elrond get settled, I am hoping we can continue that lunchtime tradition.” Lindir’s tears fell as he embraced her. “I would love that, Celebrian. I have missed you, so much.” Glorfindel and Erestor greeted family and friends who had sailed before them. Then Glorfindel picked Celebrian up and spun her around. She laughed and kissed him, then Erestor. “We are all together again. I am so happy.” They began walking away from the docks. “Elrond, I hope you do not mind, but I took the liberty of picking out a spot and having a home built for you and Lindir. She guided them down several paths and through trees. Along the way, she pointed out the house that she shared with her mother. After walking for almost an hour, they had been walking down a long slope and came to a glade. Trees on three sides surrounded the glade, and the forth side was bordered with a tall cliff. The cliff had a waterfall that fed a stream that ran along the south part of the glade. A beautiful cottage settled close to the trees to give shade in the summer months and shelter from the cold winds during the winter. Celebrian lead them into the cottage. She had placed all the books in the library she had built as part of the house and Lindir’s instruments were in his very own music room. Elrond and Lindir stood stunned. “Celebrian, why?” He shook his head. “Because, I love you both and wanted you to be at home here, together.” Lindir hugged her tightly. “Meldir, it is beautiful and perfect. Rather like you.” Celebrian blushed. “I am so pleased you like it. Now, I will see you later. We have planned a celebration in a few days after you all get settled,” she walked out the door. Elrond and Lindir followed her out. “You have no idea how happy I am you have bonded and that you are here. I truly have missed my friends.” She began walking back into the trees. Lindir and Elrond watched her leave and then turned to each other. “We could not have picked a more perfect place to make our home.” Elrond whispered, looking at the beauty surrounding them. Lindir hugged Elrond tightly. “It is absolutely beautiful.” They kissed for a long moment and Lindir placed his brow to Elrond’s brow. “We are home, my love. We are home.” The End
