Summary: Glorfindel and Melpomaen are in love, but they need someone to nudge them to right direction. Erestor is the right elf for the job. ***** Chapter 1 Erestor grinned when he heard another sigh escaping his friend’s lips. He followed Glorfindel’s gaze, and noticed him staring at Melpomaen…again. The balrog slayer had visited the library far more frequently after the young scribe had started his job. Erestor had his own suspicions as to his friend’s reasons, but they hadn’t talked about it yet. Maybe now it was right time. “Ai Glorfindel! You are hopeless. Why don’t you just go, and ask him out?” He whispered mischievously. His grin widened when he saw Glorfindel blushing. So, the famed Balrog slayer was really smitten with his new secretary. Erestor wasn’t surprised. Melpomaen was indeed a pretty little elf, as well as the best secretary Erestor has ever had. “I would love to… he is the sweetest creature I have ever seen. But he is so young. Maybe too young for me”, Glorfindel sighed. He had fallen in love with Melpomaen at very first sight. He loved everything about him… warm brown eyes, shiny auburn hair… beautiful, though shy smile… He didn’t dare to think what those shapeless robes hid… Oh, this time he was in real trouble and he knew it. Glorfindel had had lovers before, but nobody had stolen his heart like Melpomaen. Still, he was hesitant to pursue him openly, mostly because he didn’t want just one more casual fling with someone who wanted only his fame. Erestor couldn’t believe his ears. “Glorfindel, mellon nín (my friend). I never believed this day coming. The famed Balrog slayer has finally fallen in love! I can almost hear your many admirers’ wailing.” “You don’t have to be so cheeky, Erestor. I never asked for their hero-worship. Is it so hard to believe that all I want is someone who would love me as an elf… as Glorfindel, not just for my appearance and fame?” Glorfindel asked with saddened voice. Erestor frowned when seeing his friend’s sudden melancholy. This was really unusual behavior for Glorfindel. He and the Golden Lord had known each other for ages, but never before Erestor had seen his friend like this. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that. I really wish I could help you”, he said, worried. “You can help me, if you really want. You know him far better than I do. So, tell me if I've got any chance with him.” Glorfindel whispered hopefully. Erestor thought for a long time before answering. The truth was, that he didn’t know Melpomaen very well yet, for he hadn't been at Imladris very long. But what he knew, made him smile. Oh yes. The little scribe would make excellent mate for Glorfindel. He just didn’t know it yet. The plan began to form in his brain. He wasn’t the Chief Counsellor at Imladris for nothing. “I must think of this. But if you want, I can try and find out what he thinks of you.” Erestor offered. “All right. But be careful! I don’t want him to know anything about me, not yet”, Glorfindel accepted, after moment’s hesitation. “Be at peace, mellon nín. I won’t tell him anything”, Erestor said, smiling mysteriously. Glorfindel wasn’t quite sure if he did the right thing to accept Erestor’s help. The smile on his friend’s face made him nervous. Erestor was the most cunning and wicked elf he had ever known. Glorfindel had marveled, at times, at how the elf he knew was totally different from that stoic and distant Chief Counsellor whom many respected. He and Erestor had been best friends for many millennia, since they were young elves in Gondolin. Erestor smiled at Glorfindel when he was leaving, and returned to his work. This time, he didn’t continue his endless paperwork. Instead, he started to write down completely different document. The heading was: “How to get Glorfindel and Melpomaen to a date?” ********************************************************************* Melpomaen watched his desk unbelievingly. Amongst the usual piles of papers, was the most beautiful red rose he had ever seen. He didn’t know what to do. Nobody sent him roses. Ever. Finally he took the flower in his hand and went to his superior. “I’m sorry to disturb you My Lord, but I need help. Someone has left a rose on my desk, and I’m sure it is a mistake”, he said shyly. Erestor raised his head, watching the youth carefully. “Why ever would you think it is a mistake?” He finally asked, surprised. “Because… because I haven’t anyone who would send me such gifts”, Melpomaen explained awkwardly. His embarrassment eased a little when he saw the Lord smiling, amused. Melpomaen had found Lord Erestor a demanding and strict superior, but also always righteous and honorable. “Maybe I can correct you. You haven’t yet had anyone who would send you such gifts. But now you obviously have such a one. I request that you enjoy it. It’s always nice to have secret admirer”, Erestor snorted. Melpomaen blushed. “But… but… how? Besides, I’m already…”, he stammered astonished. Erestor flinched. This was unexpected. He had thought that Melpomaen was available. As far he knew, the elf hadn’t a lover. Had he been wrong? “What do you mean? If you have a lover, why wouldn't he or she give you gifts?” “I didn’t mean it that way. I haven’t lover, but…” Melpomaen couldn’t continue. He had tears of embarrassment in his eyes. He never dared to tell Lord Erestor of his piteous crush. What made things all the worse, was that the very object of his fantasies was his superior’s best friend. He didn’t think that Lord Erestor would laugh at him if he knew, but would surely think him childish fool. Erestor watched Melpomaen with a start. The youth hung his head. Erestor had seen tears in his eyes. How in Arda had this simple rose succeeded in upsetting him so? He had to solve this riddle. It wasn’t good for Melpomaen, nor their work, if the youth was unhappy. Erestor had taken a liking to the young elf from the very beginning. He had thought that if he had elflings, he would have someone like Melpomaen. It was almost strange that Glorfindel also had feelings for the youth, though much less innocent… “Melpomaen, pen-neth (young one). Saes (please) calm down. There is no reason to be afraid. Maybe I can help if you tell me what is wrong”, he said softly. “I… I can’t tell. It is so wrong… so embarrassing.” Melpomaen whispered desperately. Melpomaen’s words worried Erestor even more. Was it possible that someone had hurt this adorable elf? If something had happened, he wanted to know it. “There is nothing you cannot tell me, pen-neth. I appreciate you greatly, and it pains me to see you so upset. Keep in mind that whatever you tell me will remain within these walls if that is what you want.” Erestor’s words finally broke Melpomaen’s defenses and he started to speak, his cheeks flaming. “I am in love with someone I can never have. " “And why do you think so? Isn’t he available, then?” “No! How you think that I could break someone’s happiness like that? But there is whole sea between us. He is so noble and beautiful… and completely beyond my reach.” “Oh, pen-neth! Don’t make the mistake to worship anyone like some demi-god. Behind glorious names are mere elves who want to love and be loved… like everyone. The title doesn’t protect anyone against heartache.” Melpomaen thought at Erestor’s words. He had never thought about it that way. He was surprised at his Lord’s sympathy. He started to think he could tell him, after all. Lord Erestor was the wisest elf he knew, so maybe he could tell what to do. Finally he made up his mind, and decided to pour his heart out. “I will tell… if you promise not to tell him about my feelings.” “I promise. But I still suggest to you that you tell him. Nobody in his right mind would reject you.” Erestor smiled encouragingly. “I don’t know about that… And the only one whose opinion matters… is Lord Glorfindel”, Melpomaen whispered, blushing. So. There it was. He had finally said it aloud. Erestor hid his smile carefully. This turned out much easier than he ever dared to believe. ***** Chapter 2 Melpomaen almost panicked, seeing Lord Erestor’s face turning serious. He struggled to not flinch under that piercing gaze. What a fool he had been, when he had told the truth. What if he were banished from his job now, maybe even from Imladris? Silence between them continued, and Melpomaen could hear his heart’s rapid pounding in his ears. “Glorfindel… I see”, Erestor finally said. He saw full well Melpomaen’s distress but couldn’t ease his mind, not yet. First he had to be sure that the youth’s feelings were real, for both of their sakes. “I… I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have…”, Melpomaen began, but Erestor waved him to silence. “I’m not mad at you, pen-neth if that’s what you think. I just want to be sure that your feelings are not that hero-worshipping I told you about. Glorfindel has had enough for that kind of foolishness. ” “They are not! I could never… How anyone could not see his beauty? The gentleness that shines from his every cell? I have seen how he adores elflings, animals, and how he always cherishes even smallest and weakest ones. How could anyone not to love him?” Melpomaen calmed a little when he saw Lord Erestor’s face softening into light smile. “Fine. I believe you. I am sorry when I pressed you so, but Glorfindel is like brother to me. I don’t want to see him hurt”, Erestor said, much more warmly. “I understand. Though I must admit that I was quite scared for a moment. I thought you would get angry with me”, Melpomaen whispered shakily. This encounter had been quite frightening. “Oh, pen-neth. I really am sorry. What if you went to rest for a while? You have been working so hard lately. I owe you that, after giving you such shock”, Erestor suggested gently. Melpomaen left gratefully. He felt quite dizzy at the moment. Maybe a short walk in fresh air would help. ********************************************************************* Melpomaen decided to visit the stables, to see how his mare was doing. He loved his horse. She was all he had left from his parents who had sailed for Aman a while ago. He was all alone in Arda now, and he hoped that someday he would feel that Imladris was his home. So far, he had enjoyed his stay, but sometimes he longed something more. Or rather, someone to love, not just passing and insignificant friendships. But, could he ever find peace and happiness, as long as he cherished fool hopes of someone he could never have? He was almost at his destination when his walking was stopped abruptly. Someone had gripped his arm, and didn’t let him go. “Look at that little cutey, my friends! Isn’t he adorable?” The tall, blond elf laughed at his friends, and pulled him closer. Melpomaen tried to struggle away, but the elf was bigger and far too strong to him. “Let me go!” he snapped, but the elf obviously had no intentions to oblige. “Oh my, you are not only pretty, but fiery as well! I must admit that I’m quite smitten with you. Give me a kiss and I will let you go”, the elf smirked. His friends around them spurred him on. “No! I don’t want to. Let me go, saes.” Melpomaen whispered, embarrassed. His situation began to sink in on him, and he got tears in his eyes. How in Arda would he get away from this terrible trouble? He tried desperately to think of something to do, when suddenly, an angry voice boomed behind him. “Take your filthy hands off of him! Now!” The elf let him go so quickly, that Melpomaen stumbled onto his back. “So, Glorfindel the Great had arrived again, clad in his shiny armor. I can guess that you want this little tidbit all for yourself! Why you are the only one here who has permission to enjoy his charms?” The elf said, bitterly. “I have warned you several times, Feredir (Hunter). You don’t seem understand that when someone says no, he means it. And no one in this valley is obliged to submit to you against his will.” Melpomaen flinched when he saw his savior. His cheeks flamed with embarrassment. Why, it just had to be him. Melpomaen didn’t dare meet the elda’s gaze when he lifted him up. “Are you all right, pen-neth?” Glorfindel asked him gently. “I am. Can I go now?” He whispered, staring blindly at the ground. “Oh how sweet! I’m sure that you will greatly enjoy his tight little ass.” Feredir mocked. Melpomaen froze, trying desperately to hold back his tears. He had never felt so ashamed as at this moment, and his agony deepened at the thought that Lord Glorfindel was witnessing his shame. He never could see him again, without remembering this. “What a monster you are, Feredir! You have no right to talk to Melpomaen like this! If you don’t apologize immediately, you will be mucking out the stable for the next decade, warrior though you may be!” Glorfindel shouted angrily. Melpomaen could see that the elda finally started to lose his temper. “You can wait until the waters of Arda run dry, Balrog-slayer! I won’t fawn upon you. Not ever.” “All right. Then suffer your well deserved punishment. You are removed from your post. If you aren't very careful, you will find yourself banished from Imladris”, Glorfindel said coldly. Then he took Melpomaen’s arm, escorting him back to the house. He ignored the young elf’s obvious attempts to get rid of him. He couldn’t leave him alone, before he was sure that Melpomaen was all right. When they finally had made their way to the elf’s chambers, Glorfindel stopped him. “Melpomaen. Look at me, saes.” He said softly. After a long wait, the young elf finally met his gaze. Glorfindel's heart ached at seeing how Melpomaen’s eyes were full of pain and tears. He couldn’t just go and leave the young elf alone in his anguish. “Can I go now, My Lord? I don’t think I can take much more.” Melpomaen begged, feeling his breaking point rapidly approaching. He was sure that Lord Glorfindel would despise him now, because of his weakness. How he could go on, after this humiliation? “Don’t listen to him, pen-neth. He is but a bitter and malicious fool, nothing more.” Glorfindel said, trying to offer at least a little consolation. Melpomaen couldn’t answer. He couldn’t think. Suddenly, he broke out in tears, sobbing desperately. Glorfindel did the only thing he could; he took the sobbing elf in his arms, trying to soothe him. He had hoped silently that their embrace would have happened in different circumstances, but nevertheless he enjoyed holding his beloved close. When Glorfindel finally felt Melpomaen calming, he was almost sad because of it. How he wanted to keep this adorable creature in his arms, forever. But that wasn’t possible, not now, and he knew it. Reluctantly, Glorfindel freed the young elf from his embrace. “Are you feeling better now?” He asked, wondering why his voice sounded so hoarse. “I am. Thank you, My Lord. I don’t know what would have happened without you coming to my aid. I’m sorry I haven't thanked you sooner.” Melpomaen said shyly, starting to realize how close Glorfindel still stood. And how The Lord had held him, only a moment ago. He blushed, despite his former afflictions. “You owe me no apologies. I’m glad I could help you.” Glorfindel smiled, relieved. “How can I ever thank you enough, for your help, My Lord?” Melpomaen’s heart started to race, when Glorfindel leaned little closer, a hopeful smile on his beautiful face. “Oh, there are a few things, I imagine… first, I hope that you would call me Glorfindel.” “Aye, anything you say My… Glorfindel.” Melpomaen was confused seeing Glorfindel’s smile growing but then he realized what he has just said. He had called the Lord his Glorfindel! How utterly embarrassing! “Just like that… my beautiful Mel. And there is another thing I ask of you.” “What… what that would be”, Melpomaen gasped, feeling Glorfindel’s breath on his cheek, when the elda leaned to whisper into his ear. “Would you give me the honor of dancing with you tonight?” “Oh… aye! I would love to, if that is what you want.” Mel stuttered, daring not to believe in his luck. Would Glorfindel kiss him now? Oh… he was so close… “I wait for that. We well meet tonight then, my beautiful Melpomaen.” Mel closed his eyes, waiting Glorfindel’s kiss but suddenly he found him gone. Without kissing him. Melpomaen stepped slowly into his chambers, feeling dizzy and wondering what had happened. **** Chapter 3 Erestor raised his head, when Glorfindel stormed into library. He startled, seeing that his friend was obviously upset. “Glor? What had happened??" He asked “I had to come and tell you! That filthy little skunk! I wish I could strangle him!” Glorfindel growled, pacing around. “Glor! Calm down and tell me. How can I help you if I don’t know who he is that you are cursing so heavily?” “Why isn't Melpomaen at work?” Glorfindel demanded. “Mel? I didn’t know that my staff is any of your concern, but I sent him to rest. He was quite exhausted. Now, you will tell me what happened. Is Mel all right? Why in Arda you are asking about him like that?” Erestor said, confused. “He is NOT all right! He was harassed by Imladris’ most underhanded bastard! Luckily, I came to his aid before he was hurt seriously.” Erestor flinched. “You cannot mean… Feredir (Hunter)! What did that poor excuse for an elf do to Mel?” “He tried to kiss him by force, and mocked Mel cruelly. That's when I came and saved him. It was horrible! You should have seen how devastated he was. He cried, Erestor! Because of Feredir’s filthy lies!” Erestor struggled to keep his anger in bay. “You can be sure that Feredir will soon regret he ever laid his eyes upon Melpomaen. His ways have always been sickening, but now he has gone too far.” He said coldly. “What you going to do to him?” Glorfindel wanted to know. “Leave him to me. I know exactly the right punishment for that scoundrel.” Glorfindel studied his friend, and decided that he didn’t want to know. Erestor was a good friend, trustworthy and caring. However, as an enemy… he could be terrifying. His quick wit and sharp tongue were well known at Imladris’ council, and no one in his right mind would dare to annoy him. Erestor thought about the situation for a moment. He needed help with this, but he was little hesitant to ask for it. He feared it would cost him too much. But, finally, he decided that any payment wouldn't be too high for Glorfindel and Mel. “Go now. I have to think. Would you send Elladan and Elrohir to me?” He said quietly. Glorfindel left, and went in search of Elrond’s sons. He was sure that Erestor’s plan would be successful. If one needed help in any mischief, the twins would be the right elves for the job. He smiled, thinking of the coming evening. Feredir would surely endure his well-earned punishment, and Melpomaen had promised him one dance. Life was indeed wonderful! ******************************************************************* Erestor’s heart started to race, when he heard familiar voices nearing. All too soon, he saw two identical younglings rushing in. They really were beautiful to look at, and their charm was deadly! Not even he was immune to it. Particularly not him. “Erestor! You summoned us. How…” “… can we can help you?” Erestor stared at the twins wordlessly. Had he been wrong, thinking he should ask for their help? Or rather, could he pay the price they surely would require? After long hesitation, he decided to continue. He couldn’t accomplish his plan alone. “I need your help.” He said, struggling not to shiver under the twins’ gazes. Silently, he wondered how they succeeded to unbalance him like no one else. Elladan and Elrohir had always been very dear to him, but after they have reached their majority, this affection had turned into Erestor’s secret shame. How in Arda he could tell anyone that he desired his former students… and not only into his bed, but to love him, as much as he loved them. For a long time he had been scared that they would notice the true nature of his feelings. Lately, his situation had worsened, when the twins had occasionally tried to seduce him. He was sure they were just playing with him, but he couldn’t tell them to stop it. “Anything for you, Erestor. Just tell us what you want and you will have it.” the twins promised enthusiastically. Erestor quickly explained the situation to twins, and saw how their faces turned serious. “We should have been guessed! He is disgusting. And little Mel in his filthy hands… it is an unbearable thought.” Elladan said, shuddering. “I assume that you are still willing to help me?” “Of course. That skunk really needs a lesson or two, on how to treat people.” The twins said. Erestor told them about his plan, and the twins chuckled delighted. “Oh Erestor! You are not only beautiful, but also your dirty mind matches our own! Your plan is brilliant!” Erestor smiled wickedly, and bowed his head. “I’m glad of your approval.” He said coyly. “Where are you going to get that tea we need?” “Leave it to me. I have my methods to get what I want.” “We know it. And that is the reason we love you so much.” The twins snorted. Erestor’s insides turned cold, and his heart ached. How much he wanted that their words were true! But that never can be, he knew it full well. Absently, he dismissed the twins, and tried to focus his task. He had to make sure that Feredir would never forget this night. ********************************************************************* Melpomaen wondered if he should go to the dinner at all. Glorfindel would surely be there, and maybe that horrible Feredir, too. He shuddered. He thought that he never wanted to meet that obnoxious elf again. There was something else too, which made him pensive. He wasn’t quite sure what to think about Glorfindel. The Lord had been so kind, and every now and then he had seemed being almost interested in him… But on the other hand… why Glorfindel hadn’t kissed him then, when he had had a chance? Maybe his kindness, and also that wish to dance with him, was only pity? Finally he decided that he had nothing to loose, anyway. He just had to be careful and stay with others, so that Feredir wouldn’t get any chance to pursue him. As for Glorfindel… he just had to wait and see. Only time will tell what his intentions had been. He surely would be disappointed if the Lord wouldn’t ask him to dance, but had he never truly believed in his chances with him? If Melpomaen was honest to himself, the answer was no. After long and thorough preparation, Melpomaen was finally pleased with his appearance. He usually braided his hair at work, but tonight he wore it loose. He had his best robes on, the ones he had never worn before. It was deep-green velvet with golden embroidery, and the color made his skin glow and hair shine. He looked at himself in the mirror, and let himself dream for one moment. Maybe, if the Valar were gracious, his greatest dream would become truth. ******************************************************************* Glorfindel was nervous. He chided himself for his stupidity, but he couldn’t stop his thoughts and dreams. Was it possible, that Melpomaen’s feelings were something more than gratitude or admiration? How he hoped they were! He wasn’t quite sure, but had he seen disappointment in Melpomaen’s eyes, when he had left without kissing him? Leaving Melpomaen had been almost painful, but what else he could do? Melpomaen had suffered enough for one day. He didn’t need any more unwanted advances. But Melpomaen had promised to dance with him tonight. Maybe, if he were lucky, he could steal from him a little kiss. And maybe… if the Valar were gracious, his greatest dream would become truth. **** Chapter 4 The dinner was undisturbed, although a few sensed some tension in the air. Erestor managed to slip a little bottle to the twins without anyone noticing. He smirked inwardly. If Elladan and Elrohir succeeded in getting that tea into Feredir’s drink, that lecherous bastard would have a hard lesson. The twins started their approach as soon as they entered the Fire-hall. Elladan studied their prey for a moment, then went to Feredir, asking how his evening had been. Erestor followed their encounter from the other side of the hall and smirked when the twins and Feredir left together. His smile widened, when Elladan and Elrohir came back after a while, smiling triumphantly. “Well? Tell me did it work?” He asked curiously. The t wins started to laugh so hard, that they soon had tears in their eyes. “I told you. It was a brilliant plan, Erestor! Let’s just say, that a privy will be his best friend for quite some time now. We saw him running towards his room, faster than ever he did in patrols.” Elrohir smirked smugly. “And pray tell me, who had had the questionable honor to be your victim this time?” The twins turned around, relieved when it was Glorfindel who had come. The captain had always been quite understanding with them, and occasionally had even taken part in their mischief. “Let me assure you, this heroic deed was planned by our dear Erestor, and accomplished with his gracious help and blessing.” Elladan said, bowing his head formally. Glorfindel watched his best friend, who had obvious difficulties hiding his mirth. “Feredir? Did you…” He started, but found the truth from their grinning faces. “Fine. I don’t want to know.” Glorfindel said quickly, thinking that Erestor was sometimes worse than his former students. Whatever they had done to Feredir, it was surely much more embarrassing than his own imagination could ever produce. And the elf had deserved it all. Glordindel stirred from his thoughts, when he saw Erestor smiling enigmatically. “Now is your chance, meldir (my friend).” He said, and winked to the door. Glorfindel turned his gaze and almost forgot to breath. Melpomaen had finally arrived. The elda could only stare at the young scribe with awe. He had never seen his beloved so beautiful as he now was. Melpomaen was with his friends, and walked slowly around the hall, laughing and chatting with them. The young elf had changed into his formal robes, which suited him beautifully, making him all the more delicious. His hair was free now, and Glorfindel’s hands itched to smooth those auburn locks. Glorfindel waited one more moment, hesitating, wondering if he should go and talk to him. Finally, he saw his chance, when the minstrels started to play a slow, romantic tune. ******************************************************************* Melpomaen’s heart started to race when he saw Glorfindel coming towards him. He tried to act like nothing extraordinary was happening, even if his friends started to whisper and giggle excitedly. To his friends, this was really extraordinary; to see the great Balrog slayer coming, quite obviously straight towards them. Melpomaen was a little embarrassed because of his friends' fussing. Now he started to understand Erestor’s worry for his friend. It must be quite awkward if Glorfindel had to bear this kind of behavior every time he tried to socialize with people. Melpomaen tried to ignore giggling and whispers around them, when Glorfindel finally reached him. “Do you still remember the promise you gave me, my sweet Melpomaen?” Glorfindel asked quietly, extending his hand. “Of course, my L… oh… Glorfindel.” Melpomaen stuttered, blushing. How in Arda did he manage to get muddled with his words every time he talked with Glorfindel? Much to his relief, the elda only smiled when he took the offered hand and they walked to the dance floor. Melpomaen felt his knees weakening when Glorfindel pulled him gently closer. He didn’t know how he would manage this, without embarrassing himself completely. Never before had someones closeness felt this heady. Melpomaen didn’t even notice that they had started to dance slowly. All he knew was that Glorfindel’s powerful body was against his own, his arm safely around him, his beautiful eyes looking at him gently. ******************************************************************* Erestor quietly watched the dancing couple. They seemed to be completely in their own world, and their feelings were visible upon their faces, for all to see. Erestor was happy for Glorfindel. Too long his best friend had suffered because of senseless hero worship. Every time he was pursued, he had to be suspicious if the elf was really interested to know the real Glorfindel, not just the famed Balrog slayer. Now anyone could see that little Melpomaen had really, deeply fallen in love with Glorfindel. Erestor flinched when Elladan put his arms around his waist. This was the moment he had waited for, but also feared the whole evening. It was time for payment. “Erestor, lirimaer… come with us. “ The young peredhel whispered with a husky voice and Erestor trembled. But he could do nothing but comply as he let the twins lead him away from the Fire- hall. ********************************************************************* Melpomaen could smell Glorfindel’s intoxicating scent, without noticing, he leaned closer. All his senses craved more of Glorfindel, more of this heady closeness. Finally, Glorfindel pulled him tightly against him, and a little whimper escaped from his lips. Never had anyone stirred Melpomaen’s feelings like Glorfindel. He couldn’t stop himself anymore, but buried his hands into Glorfindel’s golden locks, smoothing them tenderly. The elda didn’t seem to mind. Melpomaen could feel his arousal against his hip, and he also heard Glorfindel’s heavy breathing. Or was this choked voice his own, after all? He didn’t know, nor did he care. Writhing with need, Melpomaen buried his face into Glorfindel’s neck, and felt a rapidly beating vein right under his lips. Without thinking Melpomaen pressed his lips upon it, and felt Glorfindel trembling under his hands. They continued their dancing, until the voices in the hall disappeared from their senses. Finally, they emerged from their pleasant haze, noticing that the music had stopped. People around them whistled and cheered to them. “Maybe it is time to go now. What if I escort you back to your rooms.” Glorfindel suggested with a hoarse voice. His little beloved had really succeeded to get his innermost feelings into complete turmoil. Melpomaen agreed gladly. He felt he couldn’t keep his façade much longer. His senses reeled, his whole body humming with need. ******************************************************************** When they finally reached Melpomaen’s door, the young elf asked the boldest question ever. “Would…would you like to come in, Glorfindel?” He whispered, smiling shyly. He awaited Glorfindel’s aswer anxiously, but his heart started to sink when the silence between them continued. Had he been wrong about Glorfindel’s feelings after all? “Melpomaen… my sweet Mel… I would love to come. But would it be wise?” Glorfindel finally said. “What do you mean?” “You should know by now, that I want you very much. This evening will surely end up with us in bed, if I step into that room.” “I… I want that… want you, Glorfindel. I have never wanted anyone this much.” “Do you understand what you are saying? I must tell you, only one night with you wouldn’t be enough for me because I love you very much. If you want me, you’ll have me… but only for the rest of our lives.” Glorfindel said seriously. He carefully studied Melpomaen’s face, and his breath quickened when he saw unreserved love and trust in his beautiful eyes. “I love you too. I want you, only you for rest of our lives. Saes, my Glorfindel… come, make love to me… make me yours.” Melpomaen whispered, opening his arms. And finally his heart’s deepest desire became truth, when Glorfindel picked him up, kissing him gently. ***** Chapter 5 They continued kissing, until Glorfindel had lowered Melpomaen gently onto bed. The elda pulled slightly back, and intently studied his beloved’s eyes. “Mel… meleth (love). I have to know… are you sure? Is this really what you want? If I take you, I can never let you go.” “I want this, Glorfindel nín (my Glorfindel). I love you, only you. There is no other for me, ever.” Melpomaen said, without hesitation, raising his hand to caress Glorfindel’s face. He didn’t know exactly what to wait, but despite that he wasn’t afraid. Though, Mel had heard that first time could be painful but he was sure that Glorfindel would never hurt him. But should he still tell, that he was untouched, a virgin? “Glorfindel, meleth… I need to tell… “ He finally began, blushing, but Glorfindel kissed him gently, stopping his stuttering. “I know that you are untouched, Mel nín. You don’t have to be afraid. I could never hurt you.” Glorfindel said softly, continuing his kisses until he felt Melpomaen’s moan rippling against his lips. Melpomaen stared mesmerized Glorfindel’s eyes, which seemed darker and slightly dilated. And what Glorfindel did next, surprised him completely. “Come here, ind nín (my heart). I want you to touch me.” Glorfindel whispered with a sultry voice, and pulled his meleth atop him. Now, waves of passion started to run through Melpomaen, when he found himself lying atop Glorfindel’s powerful, aroused body. It felt the most natural thing in Arda, to open Glorfindel’s tunic buttons, to run his hand upon soft and warm skin. Melpomaen could feel Glorfindel’s heart beating rapidly under his hand, as he instinctively leaned closer. Soon, Melpomaen’s lips followed the same path, and he moaned, tasting his meleth’s heady scent. Glorfindel’s gasps and soft moans felt like music in his ears, and young elf started to understand what sensual power he had over Glorfindel. He forgot his shyness, and started to feast on his meleth’s body like he was starving, undressing him at the same time. Melpomaen’s love made him bold. He craved more of Glorfindel’s skin, his strong body, his hot kisses. Wild need raged in Melpomaen’s heart and body when he felt the elda trembling beneath him. Glorfindel was on fire. Never had he felt anything like this. Melpomaen’s innocent passion, obvious love in his touches, brought tears of joy in his eyes. Finally, Glorfindel rose, and started to undress his meleth slowly. Every now and then he kissed silky skin, which was revealed under discarded clothing. When Melpomaen finally lay naked, under his adoring gaze, Glorfindel’s heart almost stopped in front of this exquisite beauty. The young elf’s skin was creamy and soft, tempting him to touch. His shiny, auburn hair spread out onto pillows, and well toned chest heaved slightly, in the same rhythm as his quickened breathing. Glorfindel could see how their closeness had affected Melpomaen. His dark nipples were hardened, and his arousal stood proudly against his abdomen. Oh… Mel was maybe smaller than average, but he was positively a male. The gaze in his eyes… was half shyness, half pure fire, and it aroused Glorfindel more than anything else could ever do. Glorfindel had always thought his meleth to be beautiful, but now, naked, aroused… he was magnificent! “Oh… Valar… you are so beautiful!” Glorfindel whispered, and took the young elf in his arms. Both moaned when their bare bodies finally touched each other. Melpomaen writhed, as Glorfindel pinned him onto mattress and started to explore every inch of his body. The elda’s gentle hands and hot, hungry mouth seemed to be everywhere, and Melpomaen could only yield to his loving caresses. “Mel… Mel nín… so sweet, so soft…” Glorfindel breathed, enjoying every gasp and moan, which escaped from young elf’s lips. Slowly, gently he continued his path lower, until he finally reached Melpomaen’s arousal. The young elf gasped, and then moaned, when Glorfindel took him in his mouth. The elda closed his eyes, taking pleasure in his meleth’s unique taste. “More, Mel nín… I want you to come for me… “ Glorfindel urged huskily. It didn’t take long when he tasted Melpomaen’s hot seed in his mouth and heard his own name echoing in the room. Glorfindel trembled when he raised his head, and watched at Melpomaen, seeing how beautiful he was in waves of his pleasure. Glorfindel pulled the writhing elf closer, and held him close; until Melpomaen finally settled and stayed to rest peacefully in his arms. Glorfindel could have spent all eternity like this; just looking at and holding at his beloved Mel. “It was incredible, Glorfindel. I never knew that it is possible to feel like this…” Melpomaen whispered, smiling happily. “Oh, Mel! This was only the beginning. There is so much more I want to show you.” Glorfindel chuckled. “Show me, then. I have dreamed of this, of us like this, so long.” Melpomaen’s breath quickened, when Glorfindel grasped his tunic, and took out a little vial of oil. Very soon he would belong to the elf, whom he loved more then life itself. Almost instinctively he spread his legs, giving to Glorfindel wordless invitation to come closer. He met Glorfindel’s eyes and in his surprise he saw them shimmering with unshed tears. Glorfindel could only stare with adoration this beautiful creature, who laid before him so trusting, offering him everything of himself. He knew that he would never experience anything as beautiful as this moment. “Glorfindel?” Melpomaen whispered, slightly fearing that the elda had changed his mind. But then Glorfindel leaned closed and kissed his cheek gently. “I just wanted you to know, that I will always cherish your precious gift in my heart, as long as I live. I will never want another, never.” Glorfindel said, his voice thick with emotions. He opened the vial, and started to prepare the young elf for his possession. Slowly, gently he massaged, teased, caressed until Mel writhed and whimpered under his hands. He looked intently into Mel’s dilated eyes and leaned closer. “Mel nín. This is your last chance to say no. Are you sure you want to be mine?” Glorfindel’s gentle question brought tears of joy into Mel’s eyes, and he nodded. “I want to be yours. More than I have ever wanted anything.” And then, finally, the elda gently placed himself above him. Mel held him tightly, as he was slowly filled with Glorfindel, with his love and need. An incredible feeling of fullness made Mel cry helplessly, but there was no pain. He cried with the sweetest ache and need he had ever known. His hands clung to Glorfindel’s back, and he swayed his hips pleadingly, making the elda groan. “Make love to me, Glorfindel, saes (please)!” “I will. Now and always, Mel nín. You are truly mine now.” Glorfindel whispered and started to move, carefully first but soon found complete rhythm, and the room filled with noises of their shared passion and pleasure. Glorfindel forgot everything else, when he heard Mel moaning freely beneath him. Only the burning pleasure that they had found in each other’s arms was left. And finally Mel came, crying Glorfindel’s name and the elda followed, feeling as he was drowning in velvety darkness. When Mel finally stirred, he didn’t know how much time had passed. Glorfindel still held him tightly, as if he never wanted to let him go. Mel was fully content with that. Here, right here was so heavenly to be. Glorfindel smoothed his hair, and Mel closed his eyes, languid and thoroughly sated. Glorfindel couldn’t take his eyes from Mel. He was now more beautiful than ever. His face were languid, but still flushed with rapture of their lovemaking. Glorfindel felt Mel’s little hand smoothing his back softly and sighed happily, but then startled, seeing Mel’s head snapping suddenly up. “Mel? What is…” Glorfindel tried to ask, but Mel didn’t listen to him. Young elf stared at his backside in utter horror. “Mel, saes calm down. What is matter ind nín? Tell me.” Glorfindel tried to ask, wondering Mel’s sudden change. “Glorfindel, your backside… I…” Young elf stuttered, his cheeks now flaming. “Mel, meleth. I assume that you don’t mean my battle scars. “ Glorfindel said calmly, even if he felt nauseous feeling in his stomach. He really had believed that Mel wouldn’t mind them… had he been wrong? “I don’t mean your scars, Glorfindel. They are there because of your brave and loving heart and for that I love you even more. I mean… are you not hurt? Don’t you feel those scratchs I left on your back?” Mel asked, completely devastated. Glorfindel was lost at first, what Mel meant but then the realization hit in him, and he burst into laugh, pulling young elf back in his arms. “Oh, Mel! You just marked me as your own. Nothing would make me happier. You didn’t hurt me… and besides… You definitely have the marks made by me. Everybody will know tomorrow, that you are mine now. “ Glorfindel glanced at several love-bites upon Mel’s creamy skin. “You… you’ re not mad at me?” Mel asked, relieved, and relaxed into Glorfindel’s embrace. “Of course not. I’m happy and very proud when I’m allowed to carry your claiming marks, ind nín.” “I just… I thought that I hurt you. “ Mel whispered, still blushing. “Shh… everything is fine now. This is so new to you, so it is easy to understand that you started. Rest now, ind nín. We can settle everything else later.” Glorfindel said softly, his heart quivering with love he felt for Mel. It didn’t take long for them to both drift off. ***** Chapter 6 Erestor glanced at the twins, who stared back at him, their intentions obvious in their eyes. “What you want from me?” He asked, even if he already knew the answer. The twins slowly moved closer, as Erestor tried to hide his trembling. “You know full well what we want from you, lirimaer (lovely one).” Elladan whispered in a sultry voice, and leaned against him. A little whimper escaped from the advisor’s lips. “And we know that you want us too, don’t you? Otherwise you weren’t here.” Elrohir purred into Erestor’s ear, making him moan. Erestor was caught, and he knew it. He was wise enough to admit his defeat. Long he had fought against this, but there was nothing he could do anymore. Without objection, he let the twins undress him, until he stood in front of them, completely bare and flushed. Erestor raised his head, meeting the twins’ gazes and gasped with surprise. Without his noticing, they too were undressed. Now, two very naked and aroused peredhil (half- elves) stood on either side of him. They didn’t give him time to recover. Elladan pulled Erestor against him and kissed him hungrily. The advisor could only melt into the sensual embrace, writhing and moaning. Ever more he trembled, when suddenly another body pressed against his backside, and he felt a rock hard arousal upon his buttocks. Four hands caressed him, worshipping, cherishing his quivering body like no one else before. Two voices whispered to him seductively, but also lovingly, so that he soon had tears of joy in his eyes. Through his lust induced haze, he realized Elladan was moving away, and he tried to pull him back. All Erestor’s earlier inhibitions were completely forgotten. “Shh, lirimaer… there is no reason to hurry. We have the whole night.” Elladan chuckled with a husky voice. How long he had wanted this elf, who now stood between him and his brother, his face radiant with complete yielding. Elladan could smell the heady scent of arousal, which emitted from the advisor. And now, he could finally make all his dreams come true. Elladan saw his brother taking a better grip of Erestor, exactly what they had planned. He didn’t waste anymore time, but knelt and took Erestor’s arousal in his hand, stroking it gently. The advisor’s hoarse cry echoed in the room, when Elladan swallowed him as deeply as he possibly could. The older twin sucked greedily, closing his eyes. Long had he dreamed of this, but dreams were nothing compared to the glorious reality. Elrohir watched in awe, how his brother feasted on Erestor’s arousal. He could feel the elf trembling in his arms. There were no words to describe how he felt at that moment. Of one thing he was sure. They were meant to be. He turned the advisor’s head and kissed him, taking advantage of his helpless moaning. He tasted, teased Erestor’s mouth thoroughly, taking pleasure in its sweetness. With his deep kisses, Elrohir smothered Erestor’s scream, when he finally released himself into his brother’s mouth. He felt the elf in his arms tensing, and then falling completely limp. Elrohir struggled to keep his balance, succeeded; and finally lifted the almost unconscious elf in his arms. With Elladan’s help, he carried Erestor to the bed. They waited for Erestor to recover, watching him silently. The dark elf was amazing, he was like temptation itself, lying against cushions in front of them. When Erestor finally opened his eyes, the twins gasped with adoration. The dark elf’s gaze sparkled with unshed tears and utter vulnerability. He opened his arms, and the twins went in them happily. This embrace wasn’t lust but gentleness and love. Erestor was happy to feel two warm bodies against his own. How he loved them, both of them, more than he could say. He had only this one night, only this, far too short time with them and then… life- long yearning for something he could never have again. He didn’t want to think of it now. He wanted to fill his thoughts and senses with his dear twins. He wanted as many memories of them he could possibly have. Those memories would be his only consolation, when he was alone again. He let his hands wander upon their lithe bodies, wondering at their beauty. “You two are so beautiful… incredible…” He whispered, taking pleasure in their needy squirming. Soon, he noticed that two identical pairs of gray eyes were staring at him. “We want you, Erestor. All of you.” They said. Erestor nodded. “Take me then, and do with me what you will. I’ve wanted you for so long.” He whispered invitingly. He knew he could deny them nothing, ever. The twins didn’t need any more encouragement. Elrohir leaned closer, and captured Erestor’s mouth into a hot kiss. He smiled, when he felt a soft moan against his lips. Erestor was so delicious, so tempting in his passion. Erestor gasped, but yielded willingly when Elrohir pinned him against the mattress. His rock hard arousal pressed against Erestor’s thigh, making his own need burst into flames yet again. Elrohir felt so good in his arms. Without noticing, Erestor swayed his hips, in a desperate attempt to create more friction. He cried out with disappointment, when Elrohir finally pulled slightly back. “Shh… we won’t leave you. We would make love to you like no one ever before, until you scream with pleasure.” Elrohir whispered hoarsely. “Saes (please)! I want you… want…” Erestor wailed softly, his doubts completely forgotten. “And you will have us, all of us, soon.” Elladan soothed, as he took a strong grip of Erestor’s hips, helping him to his hands and knees. Erestor’s heart started to race, when he felt gentle hands smoothing his hips and buttocks. Erestor had never been this nervous, but at the same time, deep in his heart, was at complete peace. This was good. This was right, even if he had only this one night. Elladan didn’t need to look at his brother, to know what he did at the moment. The older twin heard from his brother’s quickened breathing, that Elrohir was almost ready. Elladan continued to prepare Erestor for his possession, and he felt the advisor shaking in his need. Suddenly, a desperate scream escaped from Erestor’s lips, and Elladan knew he had found what he had been looking for. Elladan brushed that secret spot several times, taking pleasure from Erestor’s begging. Finally, the older twin glanced at his brother, and nodded. Elrohir took the hint, and leaned to speak into Erestor’s ear. The advisor was beyond rational thinking, and he hardly understood what the younger peredhil wanted from him. Erestor was confused, as he saw Elrohir settle himself in front of him, his obvious desire to be taken. “Elrohir? What… do you really… “ Erestor panted, trying to figure out what was happening. “I want you to take me. Come, Erestor nín. I want you.” The younger twin simply said, and beckoned Erestor to settle between his legs. Erestor complied, after a moment’s hesitation, only to find that Elladan held him back. “One more moment, lirimaer (lovely one).” Elladan whispered, and coated Erestor’s length, stroking it gently. Erestor could only lean weakly against Elladan, moaning and writhing. He gasped, when the older twin released him, and helped him to settle into Elrohir’s waiting embrace. The younger twin looked into Erestor’s beautiful eyes, when the elf took him, making him finally his. Elrohir smiled happily, despite his almost unbearable fullness. Erestor felt so good within him, as if he was made for him. “Are you all right, meleth?” Erestor asked, without noticing the endearment that escaped from his lips. “I am. Finally you are ours, Erestor. But first… come, brother. Come and feel yourself, that he really is made for us.” Elrohir said softly. Elladan didn’t need to be told twice, and soon Erestor gasped as he was slowly entered. Their union felt heavenly. This was beyond everything that Erestor had ever known. Tears fell from his eyes. He could only whisper the twins’ names as Elladan slowly started to move, setting their pace. Elrohir around him… Elladan deep within him… two identical voices, crying his name… Sensations washed over Erestor’s body, feeling he was thoroughly loved. Finally, Elladan and Elrohir were one with him, just as he had dreamed for so long. Their bodies rocked together with complete rhythm, older then the time itself. Erestor drifted into blinding ecstasy, which seemed to last forever, until they finally found their release, screaming their pleasure into night. Erestor buried his head against Elrohir’s chest, sobbing and writhing. Their lovemaking had been almost too much for him to bear, and now all his hidden feelings burst out. Through his haze, Erestor could feel two warm bodies against him, and two pairs of hands, caressing him gently. “Elladan… Elrohir… hold me.” He whispered hoarsely, desperately needing their closeness. “We will hold you, now and forever, meleth.” Two voices said to him, and that was last thing Erestor heard before he drifted into exhausted sleep. The twins stared at Erestor for a moment, admiring his beauty and holding him, just as Erestor had asked. “He is incredible, Elladan. Erestor is finally ours.” Elrohir said softly, and stroked the sleeping elf’s raven hair. “Aye, brother. I love him, as much as I love you.” Elladan whispered, kissing his younger twin gently. They sighed happily, and snuggled closer to each other, until sleep claimed them too. ***** Chapter 7 Erestor watched from behind his desk, when the happy couple finally arrived. He felt his smile somewhat forced, but much to his relief, Glorfindel and Melpomaen didn’t notice it. Very soon, Erestor realized; that they didn’t notice anything else … but each other. They kissed, and whispered lovingly at each other. Glorfindel was obviously reluctant to go and separate from his lover. Erestor decided finally, that he had had enough. He coughed, and looked, amused at how Glorfindel and Melpomaen started after hearing the noise. “I think it is best if you take a day off Mel, and go with Glorfindel.” Erestor chuckled at the blushing young scribe. “I’m sorry Lord Erestor. I should have been…” Melpomaen stuttered, embarrassed, but Erestor waved him to silence. “Don’t be. There is no reason for that, Mel. Your work has always been excellent, so certainly you have deserve some time off, to spend with your lover.” The young elf’s smile was dazzling. “Thank you so much, Lord Erestor.” He whispered. “Indeed, Erestor. We owe you much. And Mel isn’t my lover, but betrothed. We are to be bound.” Glorfindel said, smiling happily. “I’m so happy to hear that. You both deserve nothing but happiness.” Erestor said, congratulating them. They left, as Erestor secretly sighed with relief. As happy as he was for Glor and Mel, seeing their happiness was far too painful. He buried his face into his hands, trying to suppress his tears. It had been the most painful moment in his entire life, to leave the twins, who still slept peacefully, and to sneak to his own room through empty corridors. His whole being had screamed in protest, but Erestor knew he had to go. The whole night they had loved each other, or just slept in each other’s arms. It was too beautiful to be true. Only one night he had had with them, and now it was over, forever. They didn’t love him as he loved them, and even if they did, Elrond would never accept their love. When Erestor thought of his Lord and friend, he felt a pang of guilt. Now, not only did he have to live with endless longing, but also with the knowledge that he had betrayed Elrond’s trust. “What kind of elf you are, Erestor? How you could bed your former students, the ones who were entrusted to you?” Silent tears flowed from Erestor’s eyes, and he didn’t try to hold them back anymore. Because of his sobs Erestor never heard someone coming, until he was suddenly picked up. He started, after finding himself staring straight into Elladan’s grey eyes, which were flaring with anger and pain. “Why, Erestor? Why did you leave us like that?” The peredhel demanded quietly. “I… I’m sorry, Elladan. I thought it would be best…” Erestor stuttered, completely confused. “Is it? Is it really best to hurt us like that? To throw us aside, like last night never happened… even if we gave you everything?” Elladan hissed, and freed his grip like he had burned his hand. “What… I don’t understand.” Erestor whispered, still completely loss of why Elladan was so angry to him. “Is it really so hard to understand? We had taken other lovers, only because we thought you wouldn’t want us…. Not in the same way we wanted you. But never were those lovers allowed to take us. That honor was always saved for you. It was like all our dreams were finally coming true, when you came to us. And now… Elrohir is crying his heart out while we talk here, because he thinks that you don’t love us anymore, that we have displeased you someway.” “What! You cannot mean…but… I thought…I really thought that you wanted only one night with me. That’s why I left. It was the most difficult thing I have ever done.” Elrestor felt Elladan’s gaze piercing him, as the young Peredhel tried to decide what to believe. “Elladan… saes! I didn’t want to hurt you, or Elrohir. And if I did, I’m very sorry. I would do anything for two of you.” Erestor pleaded, tears in his eyes. After long consideration, Elladan finally calmed down, and sighed deeply. “So, what you are going to do now, Erestor? I ask that if you don’t want us, you came and tell it to me and to Elrohir… personally. Then I will try to heal our hearts, if ever I can.” The young peredhel said with a hopeless tone as he turned to leave. “But I want you! I have wanted you for so long, and grieved when I knew I could never have you.” Erestor cried out, grasping Elladan’s wrist. He couldn’t look at his beloved’s pain any longer. Elladan looked anxiously Erestor’s face, his heart racing. Was it possible, that Erestor loved them, after all? “Tell me, Erestor. No games, no hiding. Only the truth. Do you love us, like we love you?” He asked quietly. Erestor realized that he had no other option but tell the truth, and take the aftermath, whatever it was. He couldn’t bear the thought that his secrecy hurt his beloved twins. “I love you. Both of you, and nothing would make me happier than to gain you as mine, forever.” Erestor said seriously, his heart pounding. The moment after his confession felt like eternity, but then a happy smile split Elladan’s face. “You silly, silly elf! How could someone, who calls himself an advisor, to be so blind? Don’t you know that we have loved you since… before it even was appropriate?” He whispered, and kissed Erestor gently. The advisor melted into kiss, and wrapped his arms around Elladan’s neck. But then he remembered something. “Elrohir! We have to go to him. He still thinks that I… “ Erestor gasped and started to run towards twins’ rooms. Their journey seemed to last the whole eternity, but finally Erestor pulled twins’ door open, and strode quickly inside. When he saw Elrohir on the bed, his heart almost broke at the sight. The younger twin laid there, wailing like a dying animal. Erestor went to the bed, took Elrohir in his arms, pulling him tightly against his chest. “Elrohir… don’t cry, meleth. I love you, more than anything. Could you ever forgive me my foolishness?” Erestor said, kissing Elrohir’s damp cheek, and then his trembling lips. Elladan came closer, and held them both lovingly, until Elrohir finally settled. “Why, Erestor? If you love us, why did you leave like that?” He whispered with a hoarse voice. Erestor started to cry, more hopelessly than ever before in his entire life. “I’m so sorry! I love you, both of you, more than you know. But I left because I really thought that you wanted only one night with me. And even if you loved me, I know that there is no hope for us, ever. Your ada would never give us his blessing. I’m your former tutor, for Valar’s sake!” Erestor sobbed, and held the twins like a lifeline. It took a long time before Erestor calmed down and noticed that the twins were trying to tell him something. With what willpower he had left, he finally composed himself, and tried to listen to them. He wondered why the twins smiled at him gently, as they offered him a letter. “We told everything to ada, the very day we reached our majority. And we also asked him to write this. Read it, Erestor. Maybe then you’ll understand that we are really meant to be.” Erestor took the letter, and started to read. * * * * “ Dear Erestor, If this letter ever reaches you, my sons have finally had their heart’s desire. Nothing could make me happier, and I gladly give my blessing to you three. You are the only one, who understood my sons' unique bond at the very beginning. I also know that you have always held them in your heart. You don’t need to feel guilty of your love because my sons could never have a better mate than you. I, myself, once trusted my very life into your hands, so how could I not do the same where my sons are concerned? I love them dearly, and they deserve the best. Your friend, always. Elrond” * * * * Erestor looked the twins, too stunned to even speak. “ Ada left something else in the cover. Look.” Elladan said, and took out a small silvery item. Erestor gasped, when he saw three identical rings resting on Elladan’s palm. “Is this true? But how?” He tried to ask, but the twins silenced him. “It is moment of truth, meleth. Do you want us, till the end of Arda?” They asked, seriously, but hope and love glimmering in their beautiful eyes. Erestor stared at the rings wordlessly, knowing that his life had changed, forever. “I love you, with all my heart and I want you, till the end of Arda.” Erestor finally said, his voice thick with emotions. He let Elladan to slip the ring in his finger, and then took another one, slipping it to Elrohir. He looked, how the younger twin took his brother’s hand, and completed their union. For a moment they could only stare each other, but then the twins leaned closer, and started to undress their soon- to- be- hervenn (husband). Erestor yielded to them willingly, with all the love he held for them. When he was finally entered, he sobbed violently, but this time his tears flowed because of overwhelming happiness and joy. ***** Chapter 8. “I’m happy when I have you the whole day, all mine.” Glorfindel said, smiling at Melpomaen. “I’m happy too. What do you want to do? I assume that you have some duties to handle, even if Lord Erestor gave me a day off.” “I need to supervise the Archers practicing, but everything else can wait until tomorrow.” “I would love to come and watch, if that is all right to you.” Melpomaen asked hesitantly, a longing expression on his beautiful face. “Of course you come with me, meleth (love). I don’t want to separate from you, not even for a moment.” Glorfindel said, wondering at Melpomaen’s sudden melancholy. He tried to think of what to do, to cheer him up. “Are you familiar with archery, Mel? I could show you how to use a bow, if you want.” Glorfindel was surprised when he saw a dazzling smile splitting Mel’s face. “My ada taught me archery, and I have missed it terribly. I haven’t had a opportunity to maintain my skills here in Imladris.” “And why ever not? In my classes are some non-warriors who just want to learn how to defend themselves. If you really are interested, you are always welcome.” Glorfindel said, but was disappointed when Mel didn’t answer. After a moment’s hesitation, Glorfindel took the young elf into his arms. “Would you tell me what is wrong? I don’t want any secrets between us, Mel nín.” He asked gently. “I… just… I asked for that from one of soldiers, when I came to Imladris, but he said…. that they didn’t have time to teach some little cowards who hide behind others backs. ” Mel whispered sadly, remembering the humiliation he had felt. “Oh Mel! You are not a coward. Don’t think so for one moment, because that’s nothing but a lie. Erestor isn’t a soldier either, but would you call him a coward?” “Of course not. His sharp tongue and brilliant mind make him a deadly opponent.” Mel said. “And, I can tell you that he is as deadly in the battlefield if necessary. His skill with the knives is incredible, even if he chose another path in his life." “So… is it really all right for me to come? My skills are nothing special, but I wanted to learn more if that is possible.” “Show me your skills, and let me decide if they are special or not. ‘You’ are special for me, no matter whatever you do.” Glorfindel whispered, pulled Melpomaen closer and kissed him softly. “I love you so much. You are so good to me.” Mel breathed, enjoying Glorfindel’s closeness. He felt so happy and safe in Glorfindel’s arms. “So, it is true then… that you have taken a new toy to your bed. I must say that you got him sooner I thought, CAPTAIN! And how long will it take? That you get bored with that little fool and give him to your fellows?” Melpomaen flinched when he heard Feredir’s bitter voice near him. He turned, and stared at his nemesis wordlessly. How in Arda could anyone be so malicious? How dare Feredir say such things about Glorfindel? For he knew now that none of it was true. Glorfindel was gentle and loving, and would never hurt anyone in such a way. Melpomaen was suddenly furious. He could handle others’ stupidity, but when someone accused his beloved for such behavior… it was too much. Before he could think, he simply reacted. He struck Feredir across the cheek, hard. Feredir’s head snapped back at the unexpected blow, and a red print started to appear upon his face. “You are nothing but a coward! A poor excuse for an Elf. How dare you to say such lies?” Melpomaen said with a low voice. “How sweet! And who is the coward here? I, when I say the truth, or Glorfindel who makes even his pets fight for him!” Feredir sneered, mockingly. He was beyond rational thinking. From the very beginning he had envied Glorfindel, and that envy had turned into uncontrollable hatred. Last night’s humiliation had been his breaking point. “Do you really want to challenge me, Feredir? I won’t hide behind anyone’s back. You should know that..” Glorfindel said, with a tone, which should have scared any reasonable elf. But, Feredir didn’t listen. Quickly, Feredir grabbed Melpomaen, gripping him tightly. The elda froze as he heard Melpomaen’s pained moan. But what happened next, surprised both Glorfindel and Feredir. Feredir sank on his knees, wailing loudly. Melpomaen’s quick kick hit him straight in the groin. Glorfindel fell swiftly on Feredir, picking him roughly up. “That was your last trick here, you son of an orc! Our Lord will banish you because of this. How dare you attack to my betrothed?” The elda growled. “Come with me, meleth. We will take this plague to Lord Elrond.” He then smiled at Melpomaen, proud of his beloved. Glorfindel thought that he obviously had been completely wrong about Melpomaen’s capacity to defend himself. And even greater pleasure he took from Feredir’s helpless raging. *************************************************************** Imladris’ Lord decided Feredir’s fate just exactly as Glorfindel had suspected he would. The elf was sentenced to sail, and Elrond set a strong escort to accompany him to the Havens. Escaping would be impossible. In Aman, Feredir would always be under Valar’s watching eye. “I’m grateful to you, Elrond. That nuisance has always caused much trouble, but his recent deeds was beyond anything I could imagine.” Glorfindel sighed, when the guards had taken Feredir away. “I know. But without evidence I could do nothing. That bastard had always been too careful and sly to get caught. And it should be I, who is grateful. And especially to you, Melpomaen, for your braveness and quick thinking.” Elrond said, smiling at the young elf. “Melpomaen is really incredible. He bested Imladris’ worst skunk, and he also made me to kneel to him. And he is all mine. We are to be bound. ” Glorfindel smiled gently at the blushed Melpomaen and pulled him closer. “You are right, and very lucky too, mellon nín (my friend). When you want to celebrate this happy occasion?“ “We haven’t discussed it yet, but I hope that as soon as possible. I hardly can wait to have you mine, Mel nín, also officially.” “Oh, meleth! I want that too. I want to be yours, in every way I can.” Melpomaen whispered, blushing deeply. He wasn't used to such attention, especially not from Imladris’ Lord himself. “Don’t be shy, pen-neth (young one). You must really be something extraordinary, since you have succeeded in capturing Glorfindel’s heart. I’m sure that you will be very happy together.” Elrond said softly. His heart warmed when he saw Glorfindel so happy, at last. He was even more delighted looking at Melpomaen’s unabashed adoration and obvious feelings for Glorfindel. “Thank you, Híren (my Lord).” Melpomaen said shyly. “I hope that you will bind us, Elrond.” Glorfindel suggested, still holding Mel close. “But of course. Just tell me when you want to celebrate your union, and everything will be ready. In the meantime … I suggest that you take your soon-to-be-mate, and give him a little pampering. He really has earned it. I will give you a couple days off from your duties, and to Melpomaen as well.” “Now that is an excellent idea!” Glorfindel snorted, lifted Melpomaen in his arms, and bid Elrond good day. “What you are doing?” The young elf gasped, when Glorfindel didn’t let him go, but just carried him somewhere. The elda didn’t care about anyone staring or surprised gasps. “You heard Elrond’s order. And I am going to obey the best of my ability. First, I’m going to pamper you, and then I take you to bed and never let you go.” **** Chapter 9 Glorfindel grinned when he heard Erestor’s grumbling. Never had he dreamed that this day would come. He was to be bound within the hour, and his best friend would do the same. With the sons of their Lord. Glorfindel turned around, and stared at Erestor’s unusual appearance, wondering how he had never noticed how beautiful his friend was. Instead of those shapeless black robes he usually wore, Erestor had now deep red robes, which made his hair and skin shine beautifully. Glorfindel also had gone to much trouble with his own appearance. He wore deep blue robes, with golden embroidery. He wasn’t very fond of formal robes, but today he wanted everything to be perfect. “Elladan and Elrohir are lucky to have you.” Glorfindel said, with a smile. His smile widened when Erestor blushed, fiddling with his sleeve. This blushing, shy elf wasn’t the Erestor he had gotten to know. “You must think me fool, when I am this nervous.” Erestor whispered, feeling himself highly vulnerable. He couldn’t believe that this was really happening. Within the hour, he would be bound with his beloved twins. "You are not a fool, mellon min (my friend). You are just in love.” Glorfindel said softly, trying to ease Erestor’ s nervousness. “Ai, aye! I love them both, so much. It’s just feels like a dream. I never imagined that I could someday love them openly. And I never dared to believe that Elrond would accept me.” “Is this the reason why you have seemed so… distracted lately?” The elda asked carefully. Erestor was always been there for him, when he had needed a friend. Maybe he now he could finally return the favor. “Exactly. So long I thought that my love for them was something shameful, something I needed to bury forever and now… For a long time I considered myself a traitor, when I loved them.” Erestor’s voice faded when he didn’t know how to describe his feelings. “Oh, Erestor. You silly elf. Your feelings were not a secret, not to anyone who knew you. And you have nothing to be ashamed of. You and the twins are an excellent match, and Elrond knows it. I have never seen you or the twins as happy as you all are now.” “Do you really think so?” Erestor asked with a small voice. “I ‘really’ think so! I fear what will become of us now, when the three worst rascals I know, are together forever. You would surely shake poor Imladris to its foundations!” At first, Erestor tried to hide his laughter, but soon the two friends laughed heartily together. “Elrond really doesn’t have any idea, that you never tried to stop the twins’ mischief, but actually encouraged them.” “I have no idea what you're talking about.” Erestor said innocently, but frowned when Glorfindel sat, and he saw the elda wincing slightly. “Are you hurt, Glorfindel? Why you didn’t say anything?” Erestor asked, not believing his eyes. It wasn’t possible… “I swear that your eyes don’t betray you, Erestor. I indeed find a little bit difficult to sit at the moment. And it’s all because of my sweet little Mel.” Glorfindel admitted, blushing. “I believe you. Look at all that's happened… our wedding…. Feredir’s departure… Nothing can surprise me anymore. And your mate seems quite unique, I must say.” “Mel is amazing! He has made me so happy.” “It’s good to hear. And now, take this before we go. You cannot leave like this to your wedding.” Erestor said, offering the cup of tea to his friend. “What is it?” Glorfindel asked suspiciously. He trusted Erestor, but the tea he offered him smelled horrid. “It’s herbal tea, and will dull the pain. You need to sit quite a long time at the celebration, you know.” “And where in Arda did you get this?” “I stole it from Elrond’s medicine stock.” Erestor shrugged. Glorfindel stared at his friend, mouth agape. And then he remembered something. “What about the tea, which the twins slipped in Feredir’s drink? Did you steal that one also?” He finally asked. “Let’s just say… that I might have lent them some, in my great need.” Erestor smirked. “Dear Manwë, Erestor! You are hopeless.” Before Glorfindel could continue, someone knocked at the door. Erestor went to answer, and saw a servant behind it. “Everything is ready, My Lords. They await you in the garden.” The elf said with a bow. Glorfindel smiled happily, and hurried to the door. “I seriously recommend that you drink your tea like a good elf. Surely you want to enjoy your wedding?” Erestor smirked. Glorfindel sighed at first, but swallowed the foul tasting potion as soon as possible. He shuddered. “It tasted even worse than smelled.” The elda groaned. “I know. I have had to use it few times lately.” Erestor admitted, but didn’t explain further. And that would have been needless. Glorfindel could have guessed that the twins could be quite demanding when they wanted… For a moment those two old friends looked each other, and then embraced warmly. “So… are you ready, meldir ( my friend)?” Erestor finally asked. “I cannot be more ready. So…this is it. We are to be bound.” Glorfindel whispered, a silly grin on his face. “Let’s get going. They are waiting for us.” They didn’t talk anymore, but silently started their short journey to the garden, both ready to start a new chapter in their lives. ******************************************************************** Along their walk, Glorfindel went to Melpomaen, to escort him to Elrond. Erestor went to the twins as well, his heart pounding. The elda knocked at the door, and when it opened, he almost forgot to breathe. “Mel…you are… so beautiful.” Glorfindel whispered, staring at his soon-to-be-hervenn. Melpomaen blushed beautifully, which made him all the more attractive. The young elf radiated happiness and love, and he leaned closer and kissed Glorfindel on the cheek. “Are you happy, meleth?” Melpomaen asked shyly, daring not to believe that this was really true. He felt warm happiness inside him, when Glorfindel pulled him in his arms. “I am. I am truly blessed that I have your love, Mel nín. It’s everything that I have ever wanted.” Glorfindel said softly, and captured Melpomaen’s lips into gentle kiss. They separated when they heard amused voices behind them. “You have plenty of time for that later. We really should go now, before ada comes to fetch us.” Elladan chuckled, his arm wrapped around Erestor’s waist. “You are right. But I see that you have used your time more… usefully than us.” Glorfindel smirked, looking at Erestor who seemed thoroughly kissed. Laughing and joking they finally went to their wedding. ******************************************************************** All the elves in Imladris had already gathered in the garden, where the wedding was about to begin. Imladris’ Lord waited in his place, ready to bind both couples together. When the big doors finally opened, he looked intently at the nearing elves, then smiled fondly. His sons seemed happier than he had ever seen them, as well as the other three elves. The small group walked in front of him, waiting for him to start the binding ceremony. Chapter 10 Elrond raised his voice and began. “You are here to bind your lives and faer(souls) together, 'til the end of times and beyond. Your love has already bound you, but this ceremony will make the bond unbreakable, so that no Vala, no Elf, no Creature could ever drive you apart from each other. With your vows you will strengthen your union, and you become as one, so that there is no two faer but one. It is the bond that cannot be unmade as long as all Eä exists. You have found peace and happiness with each other, so that together you will be more than you ever could be alone. You will give each other all your life, strength and the deepest love of your hearts; from this moment throughout eternity. Now, the time has come: Speak your vows." Elrond looked at his sons, urging them to begin. Together the twins raised their voices, and declared their devotion to their meleth. “We love you more than life itself, and our home is in your heart, now and forever. In you we have found peace, happiness and love. To you we bind ourselves, willingly and with great joy. For you our souls are singing, for you and only you our hearts are beating. You are the only love of our lives, the other part of our souls, our beloved and cherished spouse from this moment throughout eternity. Every day we thank the Valar for you, for your love, for your very being. From this moment, you, Erestor O Imladris, belong to us and never will we turn away from you.” Erestor shook to his very core when he heard the twins declaiming the binding vow, older than time itself. A little hesitantly, he met Elrond’s gaze. To his great joy, he saw only warmth and approval in those grey eyes, so similar to the twins’. When Erestor’s own turn came, he didn’t hesitate. “I love you more than life itself, and my home is in your hearts, now and forever. In you I have found peace, happiness and love. To you I bind myself, willingly and with great joy. For you my soul is singing, for you and only you my heart is beating. You are the only love of my life, the other part of my soul, my beloved and cherished spouses from this moment throughout eternity. Every day I thank the Valar for you, for your love, for your very being. From this moment, you, Elladan and Elrohir O Imladris, belong to me and never will I turn away from you.” Erestor had hardly finished his vow, when he was pulled into the twin’s arms and they both kissed him passionately. Erestor blushed at first, when he heard people’s applauses but then smiled happily. Glorfindel’s heart started to race when Elrond turned to him, and urged him to begin his vow. He looked straight into Melpomaen’s beautiful eyes, when he spoke his vow, meaning every word from the bottom of his heart. “I love you more than life itself, and my home is in your heart, now and forever. In you I have found peace, happiness and love. To you I bind myself, willingly and with great joy. For you my soul is singing, for you and only you my heart is beating. You are the only love of my life, the other part of my soul, my beloved and cherished spouse from this moment throughout eternity. Every day I thank the Valar for you, for your love, for your very being. From this moment, you, Melpomaen O Imladris, belong to me and never will I turn away from you.” Melpomaen could only stare into Glorfindel’s eyes, which seemed to shine only for him. He trembled, thinking that this was everything he ever will want from life. Soon he would be bound to the elf he loved more than anything. Melpomaen’s voice was clear and tricked with pure happiness when he started his vow. From this moment, you, Glorfindel O Imladris, belong to me and never will I turn away from you.” When Melpomaen finally stopped, Glorfindel kissed his new hervenn (husband), until sheer lack of air forced them apart. Both blushed, and turned to Elrond who only smiled and raised his voice once more. "And so be it. You have bound to each other, from this moment until the end of times and beyond. Love and cherish each other, and the Valar’s blessing will be with you forever." Both couples turned around, receiving their friend’s applauses and congratulations. The twins hugged their ada, and thanked him. “I’m happy for you, ionnath nín (my sons). Take care of each other.” Elrond smiled at his sons. The Lord then hugged his Chief councilor warmly, congratulating him, and welcoming him to their family. “Thank you, Elrond. I’m so happy that you accepted me.” Erestor whispered, blushing slightly. “Of course I accepted you. You are the only one who can reason with those rascals that are my ionnath (sons)… if you only want.” Elrond smirked. He wasn’t completely unaware of the fact, that Erestor had sometimes taken part in the twins’ mischief. Elrond didn’t mind, because he knew that Erestor loved his sons deeply, and had loved them from the day they were born. Glorfindel heard Elrond’s words and chuckled. He should have been known better than under-estimate their Lord’s insight. Glorfindel’s smile widened, when he looked at Erestor’s stunned face. Oh aye… it was really rare to see Erestor losing his composure like this. ******************************************************************* The celebration was long and joyous. Very seldom had they so much reason to celebrate as now, when Imladris’ heirs and their beloved Captain Glorfindel were bound. Glorfindel and Melpomaen left earlier, but the twins and Erestor still whirled on the dance floor, laughing and enjoying the celebration. Many had been surprised to see their Chief councilor so different than he usually was. He wasn’t cold and distant anymore, but young and joyous… and his love for his mates was obvious, for all to see. ********************************************************************* No one noticed when Imladris’ Lord crept furtively into the garden, to get some fresh air. Elrond searched for his ada with his gaze, and smiled when he saw a bright star in the night sky. “I’m so glad that you are still able to see us, ada. You’ll like my sons' new mate. They will be happy with Erestor.” Elrond stared at the star silently, hoping to someday meet his ada again. Then his thoughts turned to someone else, who also was lost to him, so long ago. “I hope that you are happy now, Celebrian. You did the right thing when you wanted to dissolve our bond. I just hoped that I would have someone, someday…” Tears blurred Elrond’s eyesight, as his loneliness overwhelmed him. His life was cold and empty. His sons' happiness made him all the more aware from his own loneliness. Was it really so, that he was doomed to live alone, without someone to love and cherish? ********************************************************************* The elf followed his Lord, when he had noticed him leaving. He couldn’t do anything but just stare at Elrond, his heart pounding almost painfully hard in his chest. The heartbreakingly sad expression upon Elrond’s beautiful face, made his heart ache. For so long he had secretly loved his lord, thinking that Elrond would be completely out of his reach, forever. But now, when the elf saw his meleth in pain, he wanted to do something, anything to ease it. Before he realized what he was doing, he stepped closer. Elrond raised his head, wondering who dared to disturb him. Angry words stuck in his throat, when he saw the most beautiful elf in all Arda in front of him. “What you are doing here?” He asked softly, not daring to believe that this was really happening. FIN.
