They had used much time; planning and gathering information as much as possible, refining it so that nothing unexpected would foul up their scheme. Their father had given his blessings, though with some reluctance. Lord Elrond could not risk getting his sons killed at their enemies’ border if captured. However, the twins were very convincing and even excited about their perfect plan. He could understand their feelings for he too, was curious about this fair elf from Mirkwood. Glorfindel was also recruited to complete their plan. He was to wait halfway with a few soldiers between Rivendell and Mirkwood as their back-up escort in case the enemies pursued the twins. It was difficult to sneak into the borders of Mirkwood for it was guarded vigilantly. However, they did not need to go so deep into the forest for the location they seek was situated at a very quiet and less guarded part of the forest. The spring they were searching for was difficult to find. However with the description given to them by their spies, they found it in the end. As soon as they stepped into the clearings, they understood why the place was a favorite for the young prince. A small hole, not too deep with crystal clear water was most inviting. At the opposite where the twins were standing was a small waterfall, supplying cool, clean water to the hole. There were several huge rounded boulders just beside the waterfall where one could perch on it and enjoy the cascading waters. Huge trees and some smaller plants neatly surrounded the area and when one looks up, a hole in the sky provided enough sunlight during daytime and a clear view of the moon and the stars during nighttime. Elrohir decided that they should hide behind the boulders, close to some trees and wait for their prey to arrive by sundown. Then they will rush immediately back to Rivendell with their prize. Silently they waited. According to their spies, Prince Legolas Greenleaf, the youngest of King Thranduil’s three children will be reaching his majority in a month’s time. As he has many things to prepare and to worry about, he would no doubt come often to this small spring to soak and relax. The Prince had thought that only he knew about this secret hiding place. As the sun sets lower behind the mountains, the forest grew dimmer. Soon the twins heard soft footsteps coming closer, without breaking rhythm. This is what the twins were hoping because it meant that their prey was unaware of any danger. When he stepped onto the clearing, he did not realised that two pairs of eyes were watching him intently to his every move and thoroughly absorbed by the unimaginable beauty of the sculpted feature and silky golden hair. The two small braids above his ears marked his status among his people. The twins smiled predatorily, silently pleased to have made this decision to kidnap the prince. They almost gasped aloud when the younger elf shed all his clothing, leaving him naked. The flawless skin and toned muscles were breath-taking to look at. Along with his golden hair, he seemed to shine from within, making him look ethereal. Legolas stepped into the spring gingerly and dipped his whole body until he disappeared under the water. It was time to put their plan into motion. They only have one chance and they must make it right or face the consequences of being killed. The twins crept towards the spring, careful not to make any noise. They hid behind a smaller boulder, very close to the lip of the spring. Elladan was holding a wet piece of cloth in his right hand. Both crouched so low that their faces were almost touching the ground. Their muscles tensed, ready to pounce. As soon as Legolas broke surface, the raven-haired elves jumped out. The younger elf was facing them, eyes still closed as the water was tricking down his face; they had only to grab the surprised Prince by the hair and arms. They quickly hauled him up to the ground. Everything happened so fast that the Prince was too stunned to defend himself. He was not prepared to be caught off-guard like this as he thought that no enemy would dare come so deep into the borders. That few seconds of hesitation cost the young prince dearly. Elrohir immediately sat on top of the slighter elf’s chest, pinning his hands above his head while his brother clamped the wet piece of cloth on to Legolas’s mouth and nose. Legolas struggled and bucked wildly but could not fight two strong attackers, especially when they were also elves. He could not scream for help as the cloth on his face refused to move. Soon he felt unnaturally sleepy. That’s when the Prince realised that they had been trying to drug him. He felt his limbs becoming sluggish and did not respond well. It took a few more seconds when finally the world turned dark around him.
