Aragorn leaned in close so that Legolas was the only one his words were audible to, “I need you, I love you, I want you.. now” “I live to serve you my lord” Legolas murmured. Aragorn came to a halt in front of a large oak door hastily he turned the doorknob and pulled his beloved inside. Legolas hardly had time to close the door before Aragorn had pressed him to the wall and closed the space between them. Aragorn sucked hungrily at the elf’s fleshy lips, taking in all that he could. Legolas reached up and entwined his fingers in the man’s hair, it was still knotty and sweaty from battle and that’s what he loved about it. “Too long have I gone without you my love” Aragorn mumbled as he placed wet kisses on the tip of Legolas’s ear. Aragorn knew that the tip of the ear was the most sensitive part of an elf, and he used that to his advantage. Legolas shivered from the sensation and pressed hard into Aragon’s groin. The man broke contact only long enough to remove the silk tunic and his own tunic, then in a flurry of kisses and nips led Legolas over to the bed. He pushed Legolas down and climbed on-top of him kissing the elf’s collarbone and shoulders. Legolas gently tweaked Aragorn’s nipples till they were hard little buds and Aragorn moaned into Legolas. “Aragorn, I want you inside me” Legolas breathed heavily “I have nothing to ease the pain my love, are you sure?” Aragorn questioned, he was always so concerned about hurting his beloved. “Yes” Legolas kissed Aragorn in a sign of reassurance, “I need this, I need you” “Then you shall have me” Aragorn sealed Legolas’s mouth with a kiss. *** Legolas’s delicate fingers traced patterns on the sleeping man’s chest, and Aragorn stirred slightly. “My love I need to rest” Aragorn mumbled, not fully awake yet “You need to get up, you shall be king in a few hours” Legolas’s whispered “I’ll be a very crabby king if I don’t get some sleep” Aragorn sat up slowly rubbing his eyes. “Well crabby or not you need to get up and wash yourself, you don’t want to be crabby and smelly” Legolas smiled contentedly. Aragorn kissed Legolas before standing up and stretching, then sleepily walked across the room to a basin of water. “You’re going to rule all of middle earth Aragorn” the smile disappeared from Legolas’s face, “The day that has been long awaited has arrived” Aragorn splashed some water across his face and started to scrub with the bar of soap next to the basin. “Yes it is here and I do believe I am ready” Aragorn replied. “And you have chosen a very fine bride, the Lady Arwen loves you more than anything in this world, and she suits you well.” The elf said coldness in his tone. Aragorn wiped his face with a towel and sighed heavily, turning to face Legolas he spoke, “Legolas, we cannot be” Aragorn walked over to where Legolas still sat on the bed, taking the elf’s gave in his hands he locked eyes with his lover, “We decided this a long time ago” “This I know, but now that the time is so near I cannot help but feel pain” Legolas said a small quiver in his voice. “Middle Earth is not yet ready for a relationship as ours and..” Legolas cut him off. “Do you love her?” he asked. Silence came over the room for what seemed like hours, finally Aragorn spoke, removing his hands from Legolas’s face he said, “On some level, yes I do” Legolas’s face drained of all color, “But it is not the same love I have for you. Please Legolas, do not be upset, I love you as my best friend and I always will, my marriage to Arwen is the politically correct thing to do.” “And you would choose politics over love?” Legolas said as a single tear rolled down his cheek. The elf rose from the bed and walked to the door. “Do not leave on such a somber note.” Aragorn pleaded. “Why should I stay? To watch you further destroy my heart? Good day my lord” Legolas turned and slammed the door, his light footstep barely echoing down the hall. **** Aragorn stood on the steps of the great palace of Minas Tirith, gazing out at the crowd of people who he now ruled. With the crown of Gondor on his head he felt exhilarated, his sense of youthful hope revived. The man walked down from the steps to great his friends and followers. He walked down the center path greeting people and then suddenly a glint of silver and white caught his eye. There in front of him was his beloved Legolas, leading the procession of elves with his soon to be queen. Legolas looked breathtaking in his ceremonial clothing, but he always looked breathtaking to Aragorn. As the man approached his old friend a smile came over Legolas. “Please forgive me Aragorn, my words were harshly unnecessary and I meant them not” Legolas said in hushed tones. “I will always forgive you, and love you” Aragorn leaned in and embraced his best friend and lover. For Legolas the contact was not long enough and he sighed discontentedly. A trumpet sounded and the elves parted a path for Arwen to walk through. Then she appeared, beautiful as always, but Aragorn felt nothing. As she walked toward him her face glowed with love for the man but Aragorn’s eyes were fixed on Legolas. As Arwen passed Legolas they embraced briefly and uttered a greeting. As soon as she had passed Legolas felt a great swell of tears and fought to keep them inside. Arwen was mere inches away from Aragorn and in that moment it became clear to Aragorn what must be done. With a heavy heart the man took the Lady’s hand in his own and turned to face her. This was too much for Legolas to bear and he thought his heart may explode, to see the day when his beloved would marry someone else and there was nothing he could do to stop it. A solitary tear rolled down his ivory skin but he quickly wiped it away hoping no one would notice, he starred at the stone ground, knowing that soon this would all be over and he could return to Mirkwood, alone. Aragorn’s gaze was still fixed on Legolas and he breathed a long sigh, “Arwen, my dear, I am sorry but a marriage to you would be a lie to my heart” the man said. Legolas’s head snapped up from the ground and met Aragorn’s gaze. “Aragorn, my love, my dear what do you speak of?” Arwen asked her face expressing confusion. “Arwen the love I have for you is the love of a brother not a husband.” Aragorn let go of Arwen’s hand and everyone looked around befuddled and worried. “I go after him I love” Aragorn walked toward Legolas their eyes still locked. The man now stood inches from the elf. “Legolas my beloved, forgive me for being a fool” Aragorn’s eyes burned with passion and love. “Aragorn you know not what you do” Legolas said hushed. “I know what I do and what I want, will you be my love forever?” Aragorn replied. “I will love you till the end of time, yes Aragorn forever,” the elf said smiling broadly. Aragorn closed the distance between them with a kiss. The crowd was beginning to speak in tones of anger and confusion, most did not accept or want the marriage between Aragorn and Legolas. Aragorn saw the hurt in Legolas’s eyes and wished he could kill every last one of the people who scorned upon them, when Frodo spoke. “Why do you speak with such words of hate? When just moments ago you held these two in such high regard, would the unveiling of love change your views so quickly?” the hobbit looked around as his words sank in to the crowd. With tears streaming down her face Arwen’s voice was the next one heard, “Aragorn, if you cannot love me then I would have you love no one else but Legolas.” The elf ran to where the lovers stood and embraced Legolas. “Arwen I never meant to hurt you” Legolas said. “I had suspected something for a while but Legolas you are my brother and while my heart is heavy with sorrow I am joyous for you both.” She placed a kiss on Legolas’s forehead and then Aragorn’s. Aragorn turned to face Legolas and clasped their hands together glowing smiles on both their faces. “The age of men is upon us, and I can think of no other man I would want to be upon me,” Legolas whispered to his love, and placed a small chaste kiss on his lips.
