Title: The Law Author: Silver Moon Author’s Email: silvermoon118@gmail.com Pairing: Aragorn/Legolas Rating: NC-17 Part Three Legolas was temporarily blinded as he stepped out of the dark hallway into the brightly lit room. When his vision cleared he glanced at the high table. His blue eyes instantly locked with a pair of grey ones. ‘Aragorn’ Legolas couldn’t move. Something about those eyes stopped him in his tracks. In the two shining orbs Legolas could sense hope, kindness, strength, but also apprehension, confusion, and fear. Legolas did not want this moment to end. He felt that he could stare into those eyes until the end of time. “Legolas what are you doing? We need to go sit down! Come on!” Indis whispered in Legolas’ ear as she grabbed his elbow and led him towards their table. Legolas allowed himself to be guided away from the doorway, but his eyes never left the man at the front of the room. Although no one had told him that this man was Aragorn, Legolas knew that it could be no other. The regal stance of the young man and the beauty that shone from him solidified the fact that this was indeed the crowned prince of Gondor. ***** Aragorn felt like he couldn’t breathe. Who was this being who he had locked eyes with? Never before had he seen such blue. He felt like he was drowning in blue eyes that reminded him of the sea. The magical moment was lost when their eye contact was broken. As he took in the rest of the lovely being before him, the realization of who this person was hit him hard in the stomach. The owner of the loveliest eyes he had ever beheld was a man. Aragorn was at a loss for words. ‘Why is a man having such an affect on me?’ “Would you get a load of that beauty?” Faramir, who was sitting on Aragorn’s left whispered under his breath. “What? Who?” Aragorn cried out in surprise. ‘Is Faramir having the same thoughts as me’ Aragorn thought in distress. ‘What sort of power does this man have that he can make others of his sex carry on in such a manner?’ “The elven maiden that just walked in with the party from Mirkwood.” Faramir answered. “They didn’t get here in time to greet you this afternoon. Valar, would I like to meet her!” “Oh.” Aragorn had not even noticed the maiden who walked at the other elf’s side. “You are right Faramir, we did not meet them. Can you please find a way to introduce me to them later this evening?” Faramir was surprised by the need in Aragorn’s voice. He inwardly sighed. ‘He is going to occupy her time all evening now and I won’t even get a chance to dance with her. I should have just kept my mouth shut!’ “Of course my lord,” he replied. ****** Legolas watched as Aragorn ate his dinner and politely chatted with those sitting around him. His own dinner went untouched. “Legolas who is it that you are pinning over at the head table?” Thanduil jokingly inquired of his youngest. “Oh…no one father,” Legolas replied a bit too quickly. “I was just admiring the general splendor.” Thanduil chuckled at his son. “Of course you were nin-iond.” Just then, a group of musicians came out and began to set up for the dancing. The first song they played was a lively Gondorian folk song. Indis squealed in delight. She loved to dance. “Amras let’s dance!” “I would be delighted!” he replied as the two most boisterous members of the royal family made their way out onto the dance floor. Legolas and Oropher smiled at one another and shook their heads. Their brother and sister had too much energy for their own good. Legolas grinned in amusement as the human couples starred at the elves who were doing a traditional Mirkwood dance to the very un- Mirkwood like song. Legolas was pulled away from watching his siblings when his brother lightly touched his arm and inquired of him, “I’m going to go have a word with Lady Arwen. It has been years since I’ve seen her and I would like to hear the news from Imladris. Would you care to join me?” Legolas was about to decline, he wasn’t very fond of Arwen, she was so stiff and well… a bit full of herself for Legolas’ liking, but then Legolas glanced over to where Arwen was sitting. The young prince of Gondor had just walked over to the Lady and taken the seat at her side. Legolas felt his cheeks turn a light shade of pink. “I’d love to,” he responded. ****** “Are you enjoying the party my lady,” Aragorn inquired of Arwen. ‘She looks absolutely stunning’ Aragorn mussed to himself. Her gown was dark midnight blue embroidered in silver. The fabric clung to her subtle curves and swirled around her legs like water when she walked. ‘At least the male elf with the beautiful blue eyes hasn’t completely bewildered my senses.’ Arwen sighed, “It is alright I suppose. I don’t really like parties very much.” “Oh I see,” Aragorn replied as he looked away desperately trying to think of something that would interest the elven maiden. After a few attempts at getting Arwen to talk without making any progress Aragorn gave up and just starred at the floor. Sitting in absolute silence was rather awkward. Aragorn decided he would excuse himself, but as he stood up he bumped into someone who had just appeared at his side. “Excuse m…, “Aragorn dropped off in mid sentence as he looked at the person he had just run into. ‘It’s him!’ Aragorn felt excited and terrified all at the same time. On one hand he desperately wanted to get to know this elf, but on the other he was scarred of the way he was affected by him. Another elf Aragorn had not noticed began to speak to Arwen. “Hello Lady it is a pleasure to see you again. Would you be so kind to introduce us to this lovely young man?” “O hello Oropher.” Arwen replied. “As I am sure you are already aware, this is Aragorn, prince of Gondor. Aragorn this is Oropher, crown prince of Mirkwood, and his younger brother Legolas.” ‘Legolas what a beautiful name’ Aragorn mused. “It is a pleasure to meet you both.” “I apologize that we were not able to meet you this afternoon Lord Aragorn, but we were still traveling here. I must compliment you on your beautiful city. We have seen nothing but great things since arriving here.” Oropher said. “Thank you, but please just call me Aragorn. Lord makes me sound much too high and mighty.” Aragorn replied. With these words a smile broke out on Legolas face. ‘He has such a lovely smile’ “I would also like to add my thanks for welcoming us to your great city. It is truly beautiful. I have never before been to a city of men. Actually I have never met a man before. I must say that I am rather interested in learning about your customs and culture.” Legolas was surprised he had said all of this to Aragorn. Usually he was rather quiet around strangers. ‘It must be a sign of how much I want to get to know him.’ “I have never before met an elf until today,” Aragorn told him. “I have learned some things about your people through my history lesson but I would love to hear it from the point of view of an elf. Legolas would you like to join me tomorrow and we might talk for awhile?” “Nothing would please me more.” With the addition of the two male elves, conversation flowed freely. Arwen still didn’t say much, but at least there were no more long, awkward silences. After awhile the musicians started playing a song that was unfamiliar to Aragorn. He glanced over and saw that two elves had taken up instruments and were playing what was apparently an elvish song. “I’m going to kill those two,” Oropher steamed. “Forgive me Aragorn, but my brother and sister have simply too much enthusiasm for their own good.” Aragorn started laughing heartily. “That’s quite all right. They are really quite good, and I always enjoy learning new songs and dances.” He then turned to Arwen. “Do you dance Lady Arwen?” “Not if I can help it,” she coldly replied. “Oh. I was hoping someone could teach me the steps.” Aragorn replied with a crestfallen look on his face. “I’d love to show you.” Legolas chimed in a wicked grin on his face. “What?” Aragorn stammered. “But you are male. It would hardly be appropriate for us to dance together.” “Why?” Legolas responded. Legolas didn’t wait for an answer but grabbed Aragorn’s hands and pulled him on to the dance floor. Legolas held Aragorn’s hands in his own and started the lively dance. Aragorn was rather hesitant at first, but soon relaxed and started dancing too. It didn’t take him long to pick up the steps and soon the pair were spinning around the room in time with the music completely oblivious to the angry stares they were receiving from Denethor and a few other advisors. Suddenly the music slowed and softened as Amras and Indis let the melody change into an elvish love song. Aragorn’s breath hitched when Legolas grabbed his arms and wrapped them around his own slim waist. Then Legolas wrapped his own arms around the man’s neck. For a moment Aragorn did nothing. Silly dancing with Legolas was one thing, but slow dancing was another matter completely. Just as Aragorn was about to pull away from the embrace he felt Legolas start to rub the back of his neck soothingly and as their eyes met Aragorn saw such a look of hope in those his eyes that he couldn’t bare to draw away from them. He started to lead Legolas in a slow and passionate dance, their bodies moving as one. They glided across the floor in perfect unison eyes never leaving one another’s. “That is quite enough!” Denethor shouted just as Legolas began to lean into Aragorn’s body. “I think the prince has had enough for one night. Aragorn it is time to go!” Aragorn pulled away from Legolas, embarrassed by what he had done and the fact that everyone was starring at him. The worst part was the look of hurt and confusion in Legolas’ eyes as he walked away.
