Chapter Sixteen Imladris -- Traveling to Mirkwood Elladan and Elrohir let the rest of the group ride some distance ahead as they carried on a conversation about Legolas and themselves. “Is there some reason you are averse to ‘seeing me in the throes of ecstasy, or Legolas with me,’ as you put it?” Elrohir asked curiously. “Why are you asking that now?” Elladan replied, shocked at the question. “I just want to know,” Elrohir explained easily. “I can well imagine the three of us in the same bed. Things tend to get exciting when we are with him and you well know it. I am only wondering what would happen if one or the other of us started something when we are all together.” “I love you, Elrohir, as deeply as I can as a twin, I just don’t know that….things could get complicated,” Elladan replied, somewhat rattled by the whole conversation. “If we were to both be with him, how can we be sure the body we are touching or kissing is his? What would happen if we kissed each other as lovers do? Doesn’t that bother you, just a little?” Elrohir was quiet for several moments as he thought about what Elladan said. When he finally did speak, he shocked himself as well as his brother. “I would not know unless we actually kissed. I am not saying…..I don’t know. Perhaps we should try it.” “Are you serious?!” Elladan didn’t know whether to be angry or laugh hysterically. “You must have lost your mind, Elrohir, to even suggest something like that.” “Hey, I am an excellent kisser,” Elrohir said defensively. “I do not question your ability, Roh,” the elf warrior replied. “I am questioning your sanity.” “What would be the harm,” Elrohir asked sincerely. “We are grown elves and it is not like we will bind to one another. It will just be a kiss, Elladan.” It was Elladan’s turn to be silent and Elrohir began to wonder if he had truly distressed his brother. It had not been his intent; he was only trying to find a way that they could be with Legolas together without feeling self-conscious. The prince wouldn’t have to worry about hurting either one of them if they could spend more time together. Sleeping in the same bed was a great way to do that, but Elrohir knew that he could not keep his hands off Legolas for very long. He only hoped Elladan would see the wisdom in what he was suggesting. “One kiss, Elrohir,” Elladan finally said. “It has to be a lover’s kiss,” the elf knight insisted. “You have to do your best, Elladan.” “You couldn’t handle my best kiss, little brother,” Elladan teased. “Nor you mine,” Elrohir answered, teasing his brother back. Both twins laughed causing the rest of the group to turn and look at them. Elladan and Elrohir gave them their best innocent look before Elrond motioned for them to join the rest of the party. “It makes me uncomfortable for you to ride behind me when you are laughing like that,” Elrond said, trying not to smile. “It should make you nervous, Elrond. You remember all the pranks they have pulled on us before,” Glorfindel stated, chuckling. “Take the point, you two, where we can keep an eye on you.” “Following them makes me more nervous than having them behind me,” Erestor said, laughing. “There is no telling where they will lead us. Eru help us arrive in Mirkwood in one piece!” “I second that,” Elrond laughed. “Have you thought more about Thranduil’s proposal?” Glorfindel said, watching the twins get into position. “I have,” Elrond replied, seriously. “I think after I speak with him and hear what he has to say in person, I will go along with it. There is no doubt in my mind that Elladan, Elrohir, and Legolas are in love and it pleases me. I only hope the three of them will realize what a blessing the Valar have given them.” “That is all we can hope,” Erestor said, agreeing with his lord. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mirkwood No matter how hard Legolas tried to avoid Thaladirith, he always managed to find himself trapped alone with him. The captain was feared by most elves, and when he appeared all but Legolas were able to escape his clutches. The prince’s fear for his father, Elladan and Elrohir forced him to bend to the wicked elf’s will. As the days grew closer to the arrival of the Elrond and his party, Legolas could barely contain his excitement and the captain did not miss this. His questions about the supposed ‘no existing relationship’ between Legolas and the twins grew more intense, as did the lies Legolas was forced to tell. The prince had requested to be a part of the patrol that would greet the Imladris elves, and Thranduil had granted his request despite several protests from Thaladirith. Legolas knew it would be his only chance to warn Elladan and Elrohir, because the captain would be forced to stay with the king. Hopefully the twins would understand his dilemma and only act as acquaintances when they were in public. Legolas longed for Elladan and Elrohir, and as he made his way down the hall his mind was focused on their reunion: the reunion they would have in private. He had forgiven Elrohir for treating him like an object, and was ready to listen to anything Elladan had to say. The prince loved them, and it showed in the way his eyes glistened and the bounce in his step. “Tell me, Legolas,” Thaladirith said, grabbing his arm and leading him to an empty meeting room. “Why is it that the closer it gets to the arrival of the party from Imladris, the happier you get?” “The arrival of the Imladris party has nothing to do with my happiness, Captain,” Legolas replied, hiding his emotions. “I am happy to be back home among the forest and my friends.” The captain laughed bitterly, threw Legolas against the nearest wall and held him there by his throat. “I am not stupid, Prince. Never before have you returned from a journey and acted as you are now. Something is going on and I don‘t think I am going to like it.” Ignoring the pained gasp and the harsh breathing from Legolas, the captain continued. “I have also come to a conclusion. I have been in loyal service to your father since before his marriage to that slut of a queen. It would not be to my advantage to harm him. I am his most trusted friend and guard. “No, he will remain unharmed, but *you*, my Prince, will pay a high price for any untruths you tell. I have also decided that if you are lying about your relationship with those sons of Elrond, and they will pay as well. I wonder how long it’s been since they cried for their *mother*. Care to guess?” Once Thaladirith released him, Legolas grabbed his aching throat and wiped his watery eyes. “I swear on *my* very life there is nothing going on between Elrond’s sons and I. I barely know them.” His voice was raspy, but he continued, “They are fair and valiant, as the stories tell. They did not even notice me, Thaladirith. I swear it.” “You are too much like your mother, Legolas,” the captain said, caressing his face with the back of his hand. Legolas stood as still as possible and tried not to flinch, but the fist caught his face anyway. “She was a lying bitch, too.” As the captain left, Legolas picked himself up off the floor and straightened his clothing before leaving the room. He needed to find a healer who could make the growing bruise on his face disappear before Elladan and Elrohir arrived. The king would believe him when he said he walked into a door, but Legolas knew the twins would not. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Traveling to Mirkwood The party had made camp just after crossing the mountains, and after dinner they took turns bathing. As was their wont, Elladan and Elrohir waited until everyone else bathed before taking their turn. As they laughed and joked along the path to the lake, both thought of their earlier conversation. Never before had they even thought about kissing one another, but now the thought was there and they could not ignore it. “I have never felt so uncomfortable around you,” Elrohir said, laughing nervously. “Nor I you. Perhaps this is not a good idea,” Elladan replied, blushing slightly. “Nay, it must be before we get to Mirkwood, so we know,” Elrohir answered swiftly. “We should do it before we undress. I don’t want to kiss you while you are naked,” Elladan insisted. “Are you afraid you will become aroused?” Elrohir asked cheekily, trying his best to lighten the moment. “My kisses *are* potent. I have left many an elf breathless and clinging to me.” “Elrohir!” Elladan hissed and pushed him to the side. “Well, are you?” Elrohir asked again. “You are!” “Who says I am the one who will become aroused?” Elladan asked with a raised eyebrow in perfect imitation of their father. “Fine, we will stay clothed, but I don’t know what the difference is,” Elrohir relented. “If we become aroused it will show when we remove our clothes to bathe.” “You just think of everything, don’t you,” Elladan remarked teasingly as they reached the lake. “Well, are you going to kiss me?” “You’re the oldest, you kiss me,” Elrohir countered, not sure if he could be the one to start. “Roh, you are being silly,” Elladan said with a sigh. “You said yourself it is just a kiss.” “A lover’s kiss,” the elf knight reminded him. Before Elladan could reply, Elrohir pulled his brother against him and kissed him as a lover would. Elladan’s first impulse was to try to pull away, but Elrohir had a strong hold on him. As he relaxed, the elf warrior began to return the kiss, deepening it, taking control away from Elrohir and pillaging his mouth as he would Legolas’. The need for air forced them apart and they stood there looking at one another in amazement at what they had done and how they felt. “Elladan….I,” was all Elrohir could say. “I know,” Elladan replied breathlessly, before pulling Elrohir against him and kissing him once again.
