In Dreams 2/? 5/12/02 Rating: NC-17 Pairing: L/H for later chaps, implied L/? Warnings: Rape references, Hot, steamy crap… Yummers. ^_^ Although, not in this chap… darnnit. Well, you know what that means anyway. If you don’t like the idea of someone shagging Legolas stupid you better get out of here now. And if you don’t heed this warning and read it anyway, well, go ahead and flame. Oh, and leave your e-mail so I can thank you for keeping me laughing. ^_^V Disclaimer: I only own my sick little mind… and Elrohir. I don’t? Fine then, I own nothing from LOTR but all my fan stuffs and my little shrine that takes up half my room. (And is still growing!) A/N: Okay, this next part is the comfort scene! Wheee!!! Oh yes, I have reread the entire part where the fellowship is in Lothlorien and I KNOW that it says that "No sound or dream disturbed their slumber," but none of this would've happened in book canon anyways so screw it. Dedication: This one goes out to my Muse-of-yet-no-name for sicking this evil plotbunny on me, to Cristina for being a great beta, and to Tsuki, for giving me that "what the fuck are you on" look when I told her I finally got to writing a lemon. Also, to my reviewers and especially to Riley, for being the first. You have no idea how much that means to me. You are the deity of LOTR Fanfiction! AISHITERU!!! I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy! Oh well, review appreciated all the same, even if I'm not worthy! ^_^ Also, if you see something wrong with it, tell me and I can fix it! How am I supposed to get better if I don’t know what I’m doing wrong? Okay, nuff with the goddam author’s notes! On with the fic! ************************************************************ "I have had dreams and I have had nightmares, but I have conquered my nightmares because of my dreams." -- Dr. Jonas Salk ************************************************************ In the dark shadows of his room, the elf awoke and looked around. He smiled to himself, pulled on a light sleeping robe, and walked to the window. He looked out at the still-dark woods of Lothlorien and remembered everything. He grinned a feral grin. What a nice dream. *** Legolas woke suddenly from his trance. He was shaking convulsively and covered in sweat. He made out Aragorn and the hobbits' worried faces above him and panicked. He thrashed around trying to get away but Aragorn held on to his arms tightly. "Legolas! Be calm! It's just me!" Aragorn said urgently, trying to get the elf to settle down. Frodo fell backwards and scooted away, in fear of getting hit by the flailing arms. Legolas wouldn't do so and Aragorn had to hold him tighter. "Legolas! What happened? I heard you scream." "Legolas didn't seem to hear and was still attempting to get away. "Legolas! Listen to me!" Aragorn said firmly. "No! Let me go!" Legolas swung out blindly and his fist connected with Aragorn's jaw. The ranger lost his balance and fell. Legolas saw his opportunity and ran swiftly into the night. Aragorn sat there, rubbing the area where a bruise was already forming, wondering what just happened. The hobbits were wondering the same thing... *** Legolas ran through the trees and brush of the forest, not noticing nor caring of the branches that reached out and tore his clothing. He had to get away. He didn't know where, but he had to run. *** Haldir was returning from to the city of the Galadhrim, eager to get to his room and to be able to finally rest. He had just come off his shift of guarding the boarders of Lothlorien with his brother, Rúmil. Their brother, Orophin, had come off duty a few hours before. They were all similar in height and build, but Haldir had lighter hair than his brothers and his face was more proud. In personality, Rúmil was the calmest and the most reasonable, often the one to soothe the fiery tempers of his brothers. Orophin was the wildfire; you could never tell when he would explode in a barrage of flames, or when he would change direction with the wind. Haldir was the haughtiest and the most arrogant, but underneath that, he was very loyal to the Lord and Lady of Lothlorien and would protect any of his loved ones with all his strength The two brothers chatted while hurrying back to the city; just this and that, mainly about the upcoming Spring festival in Rivendell, wondering if the Lady would send emissaries in her place again this year, and wondering if those emissaries would be them again. They also talked more quietly about the purpose of the Fellowship's visit, and what would become of it. "Do you think it has anything to do with the, well, you know..." Rúmil asked. "If it does, I sincerely doubt that it has anything to do with us," Haldir said uninterestedly. "But, what if there's a war?" Rúmil said, mostly to himself and staring at the forest floor. Haldir smiled that little smile of his* and patted his brother on the back. "No worries Rúmil. If we have to fight, I am sure we'll be fine." "I suppose-" "Don't suppose. Know." "But what if we die?" Haldir snorted indignantly. "Come now Rúmil. Do you really have that little faith in yourself and your brothers." He gave him a half-patronizing look, although the other half of it was something close to amusement. "Well-" Haldir interrupted. "Nothing bad has happened in Lothlorien in many years. I highly doubt that anything of any interest would happen right now." Suddenly, out of nowhere, an elf burst out of the brush, and shoved past them, knocking Haldir down, and disappearing out of sight. Rúmil helped his brother to his feet and snorted indignantly. "Well, that was certainly rude of whoever that was." Haldir had a worried look on his handsome face and turned to his brother questioningly. "Did you not just see who that was?" "No," Rúmil admitted. Haldir turned back to where the elf ran. "That was prince Legolas." And I saw tears… he thought to himself. "What? But-" Before Rúmil could finish, Haldir sped after the prince, leaving his youngest brother standing there, frozen to the spot, and completely confused. "Well dear brother. It seems you're wrong about having something interesting happen in Lorien," he said to himself. After a while, he shook his head and walked toward Caras Galadon, leaving his brother to whatever he was going to do. *** He ran faster and faster, not caring about anything but the elf running ahead of him. What was Legolas doing? And why was he crying? It would definitely cause questions to be asked when he was caught, and Haldir didn't think he would be in the mood to answer, judging by his tears. "Legolas! Stop!" He caught sight of the younger elf running just ahead, and sped up 'til he was only a few feet away from him. "Legolas!" Legolas did not hear him, or if he did, he ignored him and kept running. Haldir lunged forward and grabbed him. They fell to the ground, Haldir on top of Legolas. The Lothlorien elf looked around, and saw that they were in a clearing. Haldir stood and offered his hand to Legolas, who took it reluctantly. Haldir couldn't see his face, as he was looking at the ground. He pulled Legolas up to his feet and tried to look at his face to see what was troubling the prince. He still had his hand in captivity. "Legolas, what is-" Haldir was cut off as Legolas pushed him away ran over to a tree, and pressed up against it. He was shaking. Haldir walked over to him and placed a comforting hand on Legolas' shoulder, only to have the elf jerk away. "Legolas," Haldir said. "What ails you?" He could hear a choked sob, then, shuddering, Legolas finally spoke, though his words sounded like they were forced. "Leave me be Haldir," came the whisper. Now Haldir knew something was wrong. "Legolas, what happened?" "Nothing." Haldir laughed, although the sound was harsh to his ears. "Then why would you be running through the forest, thoughtlessly knocking down innocent guards, hm?" Haldir couldn't see his face because Legolas had hidden it against the tree, but he did hear his soft voice. "I am sorry about that. Please, this is something I need to deal with on my own. Anyway, it's nothing you should be concerned with." Haldir snorted. "I don't believe you." His eyes narrowed. "The crown prince of Mirkwood would not go through the forest with tears in his eyes." He leaned his shoulder against the tree and his voice softened. “Do you not remember our friendship in the past? Why would I not be concerned if you are in distress?” Legolas slowly turned his head to face Haldir, and the latter was immediately startled. The prince's eyes were red, his face pink-tinged from the run, and the tears were flowing freely. His eyes normally pools of vivid blue now voids of black. Haldir felt his heart wrench in the first time in the long centuries that he had known the prince. Something terrible must have happened to Legolas for him to be this upset. His normally impassive heart reached out to the blonde prince and he hugged him close, trying to calm him. He held the young elf in a comforting embrace, feeling him stiffen from the contact, and slowly relax. They stayed that way for a long while, Legolas drawing much-needed strength from the march warden of the Galadhrim, and his past acquaintance. They just stood there, Legolas in the arms of Haldir, while Haldir gently, soothingly, stroked his long blond locks. The tears soon stopped flowing, and Haldir could feel the prince’s muscles loosen a little. Haldir pulled back and looked at the elf in his arms, who was still trembling. “Legolas?” Haldir said gently. “Please, tell me what it is.” Legolas looked up reluctantly and saw the concern in his eyes. His face contorted into one of pain and agony, the tears immediately started up again and Legolas buried his face into Haldir’s tunic. Haldir panicked. “Legolas, seriously. What is wrong?” Legolas shook his head and his words were muffled by the cloth. “I cannot tell you,” he looked up at Haldir with sad eyes. “The pain is too great.” “But–“ Legolas cut him off. “Let it rest, March Warden.” Haldir stiffened slightly. Legolas had never called him that, but he soon pushed it aside. He sighed and embraced the prince once again. This wouldn’t be easy. He whispered into Legolas’ ear: “If you do not trust me, then you need not reveal the cause of your distress.” The blonde shook his head and the golden tresses fell back into place as if never disturbed. “It’s not that I don’t trust you Haldir, it is just a personal matter.” He gazed forlornly at the ground. “And I do not wish to speak of it at the moment.” The memory of the horrid nightmare came rushing back to him, and hit him full on like a gale wind. Legolas’ knees buckled and he fell against the other elf, who, seeing this coming, caught him. Haldir smiled down at the golden haired elf in his arms and murmured softly, gently. “Have I not proven myself in the past? Have I not only kept your secrets safe and sound, but even helped you through every little bump when you used to stay here?” Legolas nodded and Haldir ran his fingers through the prince's soft hair. “Then tell me,” he urged gently. Legolas’ body was wracked with shudders as he suddenly sobbed into the Lorien elf’s shoulder. “All right. I’ll tell you,” he whispered. “It’s like this…” TBC... ************************************************************ A/N: Okays, I KNOW it was stupid.
