As were the rest of the elves in his party. They had accompanied the Lady Arden to Lothlorien and after relaxing for a few weeks decided it was time to return home. The journey had been uneventful and quick. "I know what I'm doing the second I get home," Maglin said with a suggestive wiggle of his brow. "I think Tella would appreciate it if you bathed before going near her," Glorfindel said with a laugh as they all handed their horses over to the stable boys. That was where all the soldiers separated as Glorfindel and Maglin were the only ones who actually lived in the Last Homely House. They had barely stepped into the Last Homely House when a streak of black and dark gray streamed past Glorfindel and jumped into Maglin's arms. He laughed and spun his wife around. She suddenly stood back from him with a sheepish smile. "What?" "Nothing, why don't you go freshen up?" I'll prepare something nice for you, and you too Lord Glorfindel," Tella said before skipping off. "Freshen up?" Glorfindel asked mimicking Maglin's wiggling brow. "Not one more word," Maglin muttered as he left. "Of course," Glorfindel said as he heard a steady drip from behind him. He turned and there was an elf in black robes sputtering and dripping. "You there!" Glorfindel exclaimed. The elf froze and started moving backwards. He ended up tripping on his own puddle. Glorfindel cringed when he heard the sickening crack of bone. It was then he finally recognized Erestor who staggered to his feet and instantly collapsed when he put weight on his left foot. Glorfindel rushed to his side. "Erestor?" Glorfindel was surprised when Erestor actually scampered backwards away from him until he hit a wall and started looking around, clearly frantic. When Glorfindel reached Erestor he was shocked to see tears in the elf's eyes. "Please, no more. Wasn't nearly drowning me enough for one day?" Erestor pleaded. "What" What are you talking about?" "Just leave me be," Erestor whispered curling up into the corner, the tears streaming down his wet face. "But you can't walk, you need a healer." "No." "What do you mean no. I heard that bone break; you can't possibly walk on it." "I will manage." "Stop being stubborn! I'm trying to help you," Glorfindel said and lifted Erestor into his arms. "Put me down." "You are going to the healers. They need to properly set that bone." "Take me to my chambers, it doesn't matter. Oh, just put me down." "Are you going to drag yourself through the Last Homely House then?" "Fine, but do not take me to the healers." "Erestor don't be foolish," Glorfindel chided as he pushed open the door. The healers took one look at the elf in his arms and suddenly all of them had something more important to do. "What is the matter with you all" Can't you see he is injured?" "We will not treat that thing." "Are you happy now?" Erestor whispered. "What kind of healers are you" To refuse to care for someone?" "We have that right, take that whore elsewhere." Erestor used Glorfindel's shock to his advantage and slipped out of the elf's arms. Gritting his teeth against the pain he took the few steps to the door before Glorfindel composed himself and went after the injured elf. Erestor was leaning heavily against a wall, his face contorted in pain. Glorfindel walked over to Erestor and lifted the elf into his arms and started walking, then stopped dead in his tracks. "Um"where are your chambers?" "Down the corridor from yours." "Oh really" I never noticed," Glorfindel said. "No one else did, that door," Erestor said and Glorfindel opened the outside door to his study. "Wouldn't you rather be in bed?" "No." "But you at least want to change out of those wet robes. What happened there?" "The same thing that happens every day. This time instead of throwing food they threw me. At least they realized I couldn't swim." "You mean you could have drowned"! Who are these elves" Surely they must be punished." "But I'm just a liar and a whore"go you have done your good deed for the age." Glorfindel did go, but not to leave Erestor in peace but to find the one elf that could answer all his questions on how in less than five months Imladris had gone mad. He went into Elrond's study, cast one look at Figwit and shook his head. Elrond looked up and smiled. "It's nice to see you home, old friend." "Home" Is that what you call this mad house where people are trying to drown defenceless elves?" "What" Explain yourself." "Elrond, come with me you are the one who has explaining to do." Elrond followed Glorfindel and became extremely annoyed when he saw the destination. Over the past few months Elrond's weekly visits had been quick five minute affairs consisting completely of yes no questions and a quick check of the baby's progress. Erestor had caught on quickly and didn't even bother to speak only nodding or shaking his head in answer. Elrond entered the study to find Erestor clad only in his leggings squeezing excess water from his robes. Elrond raised a questioning brow but also noticed the black and blue marks on Erestor's arm and his almost purple and painfully swollen left foot. "What on earth happened?" Elrond exclaimed. "I fell," Erestor replied not looking up. "Erestor! Look at those bruises. You did not just fall, that is not even what you said to me," Glorfindel exclaimed. Erestor did not respond to Glorfindel's claims and continued to squeeze out his robe onto the floor. Elrond left the room, and returned a few moments later with some strips of cloth to bind Erestor's foot. "Do not walk on it for a few days. I will bring you some herbs for the pain later." Erestor nodded not once looking at Elrond's face as Glorfindel watched this all with growing confusion. "Don't you even want to know what happened?" "He fell," Elrond replied calmly. "If you will excuse me," Elrond said leaving the room. Glorfindel stared his mouth agape as he looked between Erestor and the now shut door. "You can go now." "I am not moving one inch until you tell me exactly what is going on," Glorfindel said with his arms crossed staring at Erestor. After a moment he frowned. "Did you put on weight?" "I am pregnant you idiot." "What really" That's wonderful." Erestor snorted. "That's not wonderful?" "It's the reason an orc would probably be shown more kindness than me right now." "I don't understand." "It's very simple. Elrond didn't like my answer when he asked who the father was. So I have until the child is born to change it or I am banished." "What" Why"!" "He claims I am lying. Spend some time with your fellow elves you will learn the answers soon enough." Glorfindel stared at Erestor; this is not the way he had wanted to finally see inside Erestor's chambers. "I'm not going anywhere." Glorfindel could tell Erestor was highly uncomfortable and he walked through Erestor's study to the door that lead to his room and returned with a pair of black leggings and a black robe. "At least let me help you get into some dry clothes." "I don't need your help." "Would it be easier if I covered my eyes?" Glorfindel asked with a grin. "It would be easier if you left." "Would you at least like me to carry you to bed?" "No!" Erestor exclaimed sinking back into the chair looking at Glorfindel as if he was Saruon himself. "What is the matter with you" You can't walk to your bedroom." "I will stay here." "Here" Why?" Glorfindel asked then took a look at the couch. There was a light blanket folded on one end and a pillow. "Do you sleep here Erestor?" "Yes, why is that any concern of yours?" "You can't be comfortable." "You really have no idea what is going on?" "No why don't you tell me?" "All of Imladris despises me and I'm sure you will when you hear the truth from your dear friend. If you will excuse me I do want to get out of these wet clothes." "Why do you do that?" "Do what?" Erestor asked calmly. "Act as if you don't care." "An act I'm finally starting to see through," Glorfindel thought. "Why won't you let me help you?" "Because I don't need your pity. Just get out." Erestor said sounding like the cold unfeeling elf everyone had come to know. Usually Glorfindel would have taken it as a personal attack. He may have slain a Balrog but it was nothing compared to being in love with someone who was a cold as a Balrog was hot. He marched his way back to Elrond's study. He took one look at Figwit. "Out." "What" No, as Chief Advisor?" Figwit gasped as Glorfindel grabbed him by the collar and tossed him out into the hall. "Anyone else?" "Glorfindel!" Elrond exclaimed as the three other elves ran out of the room. "I will not have you manhandling?" "Sit down you can't possibly ca "Glorfindel, what is this about?" "I can not leave you alone for five minutes. I want you to explain to me now. What has happened" Why did you replace Erestor with that snivelling thing?" "Figwit is somewhat of a nuisance." "Some what" He's lucky I didn't toss him over the balcony." "What has your temper so riled old friend?" "What"! This mad house! Elrond I want answers! And Erestor is being his usual chatty self. So you who have the gall to treat him like the plague will have to tell me why." "The short of it. He had the nerve to accuse Thranduil of rape." Glorfindel fell back into the chair. He was stunned, but after a moment to compose himself he looked up at Elrond. "So your former lover is lounging out in the dungeons and you decided to take it out on Erestor?" "Are you mad"! Thranduil is in Mirkwood blissfully unaware of the lies Erestor is spinning." "Lies" So its my imagination that Erestor is bulging at the middle?" "I did not say he is not with child. All I am saying is the child is not Thranduil's." "Did it ever occur to you he may be telling the truth?" "The truth"! You expect me to believe that Thranduil is capable of such a horror" I know Thranduil and that is nothing but a wicked lie." "You two may have shared quite a few rolls in bed, but that was nearly an age ago. You do not think he may have changed. Or maybe he hasn't. Pale features, hair as black as night, always hunched over a scroll or parchment. You"re right Thranduil hasn't changed his tastes one bit." "How dare you! Get out!" Elrond yelled. Glorfindel stood and towered over the elf lord. "I call you lord out of courtesy child. Do not think you can make me do anything I don't want to," Glorfindel said and marched out of the room leaving Elrond in stunned silence. Total sweetheart who does a great job at making sure I make sense. Erestor glanced cautiously at his dinner mate. After Glorfindel had left he had given up on changing but when Tella had arrived with his lunch she had insisted on helping him change. Then a few minutes later Glorfindel had entered the room and asked Tella to bring him lunch in Erestor's room. Erestor had ignored the elf all throughout lunch and when Tella reclaimed his platter Glorfindel had silently taken his tray and left. He had thought the strange elf had given up but here he was. Instead of Tella bringing him dinner he was stuck with Glorfindel and some truly superb grilled vegetables and some roasted meat. Finally he put his fork down and looked directly at Glorfindel who was calmly sipping some wine. "Why are you here Glorfindel?" Glorfindel finished the wine in his glass. He took the napkin and blotted his lips before addressing Erestor. "Would you pour me some more wine?" He asked holding up his empty goblet. Erestor wasn't sure why, but he did as Glorfindel asked and resumed eating. Tella returned for the plates and still not a word had been spoken between the pair beyond Glorfindel's request for more wine. Erestor would never admit it but the silent company had almost been nice. "Well I'll just leave you two to talk," Tella said with a secretive smile. Glorfindel watched Erestor, glad to be able to use this close scrutiny on an elf he had only been able to observe from afar. The fact was he didn't know what to say. "I'm sorry" just didn't seem to be something Erestor wanted to hear. Finally something occurred to Glorfindel. "Why aren't you fading?" Erestor looked at Glorfindel tiredly as a realization seemed to dawn on him. "Oh, just tell Elrond I will be out of his hair once this child is born one way or the other. He does not need to send in reinforcements." "I am not doing this on Elrond's behalf." "Then who's?" "My own. Unlike Elrond I am not able to so easy to dismiss what you said." "I am tired Glorfindel, I am in no mood for your games," Erestor said turning away from the blonde elf. "It is still early Erestor." "Excuse me if nearly dying and breaking my foot exhausts me," Erestor said in a cold controlled voice. Glorfindel sighed and stood. Things had been going so much better when he hadn't spoken a word. He took one last look at Erestor who was actually going to sleep on his chair and made his way to see Tella and Maglin. Glorfindel knocked on the door and Maglin answered a glass of wine in his hands. "Ah good you"re awake. Is Tella awake as well?" "Why yes since when have you taken a liking to she elves" Married she elves?" "Worried?" Glorfindel asked with a smirk. "Ha! Not of the likes of you. Tella, Glorfindel is here to see you." "Really" Well stop being rude and invite him in! Lord Glorfindel would you like some wine" How did it go with Erestor?" "Erestor" You actually talked to that frigid elf?" Tella smacked her husbands arm and indicated for Glorfindel to sit. "No, when you left I finally started talking to him. I don't know what I said wrong." "What did you say?" "Do you know what happened?" Tella nodded and Glorfindel continued. "I asked him why he wasn't fading." "MALES!" "What?" "Look I don't mean to be rude, but you haven't been here the few last months. There were days when Erestor wouldn't move, blink or anything else. Then he started taking daily walks. Everyday he returned to his room covered in rotten food. I finally asked him why he didn't just stay inside." "Because he is stubborn?" Glorfindel asked. "What makes you think Erestor likes to make his life difficult" He did it because Elrond ordered him to take a daily walk or leave Imladris right away. Erestor is terrified of placing one foot out of line, even if it means being constantly harassed. And our "all mighty Lord Elrond" ignores it all." "That's not like Elrond," Glorfindel muses. "Some people think he accused one of twins, and that's why Elrond refuses to do anything to stop them as long as they don't harm the child." "It isn't one of the twins." "Oh I know that, those boys are angels. But I can't really talk to Erestor you know" He's warmed up to me but not that much. And I wouldn't be foolish enough to ask him if it was one of the twins." "So what should I do?" Glorfindel asked. "What had you done before that" You seemed to be getting along when I came for the tray." "We hadn't said anything. He asked me why I was there and I asked him for more wine." "That doesn't seem so bad, Erestor likes quiet." "Then I asked him why he wasn't fading." "I swear, Lord Glorfindel tomorrow at noon be in the gardens. Erestor always walks the same path along the water, I think its because Elrond could see him if he looked." "You are forgetting something my dear lady, Erestor has a broken foot. He won't be walking tomorrow." "Then first thing in the morning you are bringing him breakfast and an apology. I swear if you warriors can't poke it with your big swords you have no idea what to do," Tella said as Maglin pulls her into his lap. "I thought you liked my big sword?" Tella blushed deeply and Glorfindel smiled at the happy pair. "How on earth did you two meet?" "I personally brought this oaf lunch for months and nothing! Then some visiting Marchwarden harassed me and he used his sword to solve the problem." "See our swords are not all that useless," Glorfindel said as he stood, "I'll leave you two alone. Goodnight." "Goodnight," Maglin called. "And its nice to find out why you and Haldir are so friendly," Glorfindel said with a chuckle. Glorfindel stood nervously at the door with Tella who had Erestor's breakfast. He was tugging at the sleeves of his robes unsure of what to do with himself. He was dressed in a deep blue tunic and tight black leggings and soft black boots. "You look very handsome." "Really" Thank you, I thought he would like dark colors." "Well what he needs to like is your apology. How could you do that?" Tella said shaking her head. "Here is the tray, good day." Glorfindel watched as Tella walked down the hall and disappeared turning down a corridor. Glorfindel knocked then pushed open the door. Erestor was sitting at his desk blankly leafing through a old boring tome. "Thank you Tella," Erestor whispered looking not looking up. "I have been called a lot of things in my day but an elf maid is not one of them," Glorfindel says placing the tray down. He saw as Erestor stiffened and he could tell his light sense of humour wouldn't go very far with him. "Erestor, I'm sorry. What I said was rude and uncalled for." Glorfindel waited but when he couldn't see any reaction from Erestor turned away to leave. He was at the door before he heard the tiny whisper. "Thank you," Erestor whispered. Glorfindel grinned and turned but Erestor was eating with one hand and turning pages with another. He did not look like he was about to have a deep, meaningful conversation. Glorfindel made his way to the kitchen. "Well, how did it go?" Tella asked. "I apologized and he said thank you, I decided to cut it short there." "I think that was for the best. Continue to bring him meals you will know when he wants to talk." "Will I?" "You knew he did not wish for conversation did you not?" "Yes but?" "I will expect you here at noon to collect his tray for lunch." A quarter of an hour later Tella went to collect Erestor's breakfast. The elf was nearly done with his book and one look at his bound and elevated foot let her know he wouldn't be able to get another. "Would you like me to get you another book?" Erestor looked up at Tella as if he was stunned to be asked a question. "Yes, if it would not be too much trouble." Tella walked over to the shelf and looked at all the titles. "Do you have a preference?" "Anything large," Erestor whispered. Tella nodded and grabbed the largest book she saw. She carried it over to the desk and placed it on the side. "Thank you." For days the same pattern was followed. Glorfindel would bring Erestor his meals and Tella would collect the empty tray. Finally after nearly a week Tella came and there was nothing for her to collect. "Glorfindel took it already." "So you two had a nice talk?" "He did not say anything. I do not understand why he keeps coming here." "Well," Tella started trying to decided how much to reveal. "He wants to be your friend, he's just not sure how to do it. Why don't you talk to him?" "What would be the point" In less then a year's time I will be banished." Tella stifled a gasp and stared at Erestor wide eyed. "I have never before and I have no use for a friend now." "You shouldn't say such a thing. You must have had a good friend before you came to Imladris. When you were a small child perhaps?" "I was born at a strange time, the youngest elf had long since reached her majority and I was 40 before another child was born." "Are you telling me"that you never had a friend?" Erestor's brow furrowed for a moment as he thought. The simple fact having never occurred to him before. "I suppose so," Erestor said with a shrug. "Could you tell Glorfindel he's wasting his time?" Tella nodded silently and nearly fled the room so Erestor would not see her tears. She blindly ran into her chambers where Glorfindel and Maglin were playing a game of chess. She saw both elves and instantly tried to dry her eyes but her husband had already noticed her distressed state. He enveloped her in his arms and whispered some words of comfort. She pulled away after a few moments. "What is it" What happened?" "It's just so sad," she sniffed. "Should I," Glorfindel asks tilting his head towards the door. "No, you need to hear this too," Tella said moving to a chair. "I just had the most shocking conversation with Erestor. He told me"he's never had a friend." "Well, Erestor is not the most social elf," Glorfindel started. "No you do not understand, not ever. Not one." "In all his life" How is that possible" How did he not go mad" How could he survive such an empty life?" Maglin whispered. Glorfindel on the other hand stood and walked out of the room and walked to Erestor's room. He knocked and pushed the door open before waiting for a response. He froze in his tracks. Elrond was in the room fully playing out the distant, cold healer role. "There may be some slight discomfort for a day or so. But the bone has healed well. You should be able to be fully mobile by the day after tomorrow. Do you have any questions?" Erestor shook his head. "Fine I will see you in a week's time." Elrond turned and arched an eye brow at Glorfindel who simply used his finger to mimic the arch. Elrond smiled slightly then made his way past Glorfindel. Despite their difference of opinion on the topic of Erestor they could not simply erase thousands of years of friendship. They had simply agreed to disagree and avoided the topic of Erestor. "Erestor?" "Why?" Erestor asked and Glorfindel stepped in and shut the door behind him. "Why what?" "Why do you want to be my friend" I will not be in Imladris much longer, you have never shown any interest in me before." "That is not true, I have just been more persistent this time. And what does it matter where you live" I travel between all three elven realms. I have friends in all of them. I even have human friends though those friendships for obvious reasons are strange. Enough about me, tell me about you." "Me" There's nothing to tell." "Of course there is, everyone has a story. Tell me about your life. You seem to like books, when did that start?" Glorfindel asked taking as seat across from Erestor. "I"ve always loved books, my father was a scribe. I can remember always being underfoot. I learned to read at a truly early age. And the other scribes humoured me because I was a quiet child and did not get in the way. They even built me a little desk." "That must have been a adorable sight. I would love to have seen it." "You would?" Erestor stood and slowly made his way to his shelf and brought back a large flat leather bound book. "My mother was an artist." He opened the book to a few pages in and turned it so Glorfindel could see. "That was me." Glorfindel looked at the picture of a smiling child sitting at a child sized desk. Glorfindel turned the page and saw a sketch with Erestor and his father, who had a cheerful expression on his face holding Erestor in the air in his arms. The next was a family picture and Glorfindel looked up. "What happened to your family, if you don't mind my asking?" "Its fine. They sailed west a little while after I was installed as Chief Advisor. They were very happy for me," Erestor said calmly. Glorfindel turned the pages and noticed the next few pages were scenery. One was of the waterfalls in Imladris. Another stopped him cold. "She drew this?" "No that was me, I am not as good as she was." "But" did you ever see Gondolin?" "No, I read some descriptions. That is what I saw, it is probably laughable from the viewpoint of someone who has actually been there." "Erestor this is near perfection. You have an amazing talent. Have you ever tried portraits?" "Yes I have a few if you continue." Glorfindel turned a few pages and the first portrait he saw was of Elrond, dressed in his regal best presiding over a meeting. The next was a sketch of the twins when they were much younger. Around the age they would have spent the most time with Erestor before they began their warrior training. Even in the drawing he could tell them apart, which was a testament to Erestor's skill. Another image of Elrond followed by one of Elrond the twins and Arwen. The last drawn one was yet another image of Elrond. "Why so many images of Elrond?" Erestor prayed he wasn't blushing as he searched his mind for an answer. "I do not have people sit for me. I spend, well spent a lot of time with Elrond it was easy to draw him from memory." Glorfindel wished he could arc his brow but settled for a tiny nod. He had a feeling he had just discovered Erestor's deepest secret. But he knew he couldn't admit it, this fragile friendship would never last. So Erestor had lost his heart to Elrond. This new fact gave him even more reason to believe Erestor. If only he could, he would wave this in Elrond's face. "Is there anything you would want to ask me?" "No"well"yes but it may be an upsetting subject." "The Balrog?" Glorfindel asked trying to keep the annoyance out of his voice. "No no, that's just horrid. What was it like to live in Gondolin?" "Oh, actually it is not that upsetting." They spent hours discussing their lives, Erestor's in Lothlorien and Glorfindel's in Gondolin. And when Tella came with Erestor's dinner she was happily surprised to see the two talking and quickly gathered a tray for the other. He didn't want to take this walk right now, but he had to. He did not want to be thrown out of Imladris. He wanted to stay but he knew that was impossible. This thing had sealed his fate. The only thing he couldn't understand was Glorfindel's sudden attention. They existed on different spheres and it wasn't often that their paths crossed. But as he thought back on it he realised Glorfindel had tried to engage him in conversation before. Constantly in fact, now that Erestor thought about it. Especially for a warrior who was so close to Elrond he preferred reporting to the lord over a casual lunch and had no need to ever deal with the Chief Advisor. All those times he had simply shrugged the blonde off, or ended the conversation with a stream of one word answers. He couldn't believe he had shown Glorfindel his drawings. But he had seemed seriously interested in him as a child. Now however, he had opened up a can of worms. He was constantly spending time thinking of his parents. Maybe he should just sail to Valinor as there was nothing keeping him here. But could he really" Why would they treat him any differently there" Even if he said nothing, how long would it be before some elf with a big mouth sailed as well" What ship would even carry him" He had no doubt that word of this had spread like wildfire through all the Elven realms. Would it be fair to take a child who had just started to live away from Middle earth" But would it be better to stay" He would be banished from his home and would carry his unwed shame all his life. And that child, how could he expect it to have any semblance of a normal life in a broken family" It would be an outcast just as much as Erestor would be. How would a child who didn't understand any of that deal with it" He had seen children teased for the strangest things, why not being born of a male and only having one parent" Such a thing was simply unheard of. Erestor walked slowly towards the garden, not from pain but dread. His thoughts strayed from Valinor to his current situation and his hidden motives. He knew why he took this path at this time everyday. Without fail it was when Elrond would step out to observe Imladris while he drank some soothing tea. Today was no different as Erestor snuck glances at Elrond from afar. He walked and did not see the spoiled fruit until it stuck him in the face. He used his sleeve to wipe his face then continued his walk. Glorfindel walked into Erestor's room with a lunch tray in his hand. He looked around trying to spot Erestor but quickly realized the room was empty. He set the tray down and went into the bedroom. The room was as spotless as always except for the door to his wardrobe, which was slightly ajar as a piece of light blue material stuck to it. Glorfindel curious as to why Erestor owned such a light colored robe, sure the elf preferred greys and blacks. He pulled it out and saw that it was a beautiful robe. The tailor had outdone himself. Glorfindel took out the robe and started to observe it when he noticed the stain. Stunned for a moment he thought it was blood then upon closer inspection realized it was just wine. When the door to the study slammed he quickly shoved it back in and walked out hoping he didn't have a guilty look on his face. "There you are I?" Glorfindel's words froze as he got a good look at Erestor. There were bits and pieces of food in his hair and he looked like someone had thrown the kitchen waste onto his robes. "If you will excuse me, I need to get cleaned up." "Erestor! What happened" You look as if you fell into the trash." "No, it's my daily greeting on my walks." "You should tell Elrond, he can't be this pigheaded." "You were here when he treated me, he has never taken much of an interest in me. And now he truly doesn't care. It is just food." "But before! You could have died!" "How many elves do you know who can't swim?" "None, why'no wait you"but what does that?" "They had no intention of trying to kill me and that is what Elrond would say. Now please, I am quite sticky." "Erestor, I?" Glorfindel stopped. "Let me help." "I am no longer injured and I am quite capable of drawing a bath for myself," Erestor whispered. "I'm just want to help you get out of this smelly robe," Glorfindel started reaching for Erestor whose eyes went wide with fear. Erestor was slowly inching for the door. "What's the matter with you?" "Nothing, you are being unreasonable. Why do you want to see me bathing?" Glorfindel stared at Erestor wondering what he was so afraid of. It wasn't as if he would attack the elf in the bath. Hadn't he already proved he wasn't one of those food throwing elves" "I will not try and drown you in the bath." "I do not need any help. Why do you think I do?" "You"re pregnant?" "I have been so for quite a few months. I have no need of aid in bathing. Now excuse me," Erestor said opening the door to his bath and slamming the door. Glorfindel stood stunned. He knew he could open the door but he would most likely scare Erestor so much he would hurt himself. Glorfindel sighed and went into Erestor's study. He peeled one of the oranges he had brought, eating the fruit as he tried to figure out what had Erestor so rattled. "Oh!" Glorfindel exclaimed wondering if he should smack himself. If he told Tella this she would most likely slap him as well. He could be quite insensitive at times. Why would an elf who had been raped want some stranger in the bath with him" Glorfindel started thinking there had to be some evidence. Something that would help stop this madness. It wasn't fair that Erestor was tormented for something that wasn't his fault. And if Erestor wasn't believed what about the next time someone of a higher rank abused a lower ranking person" Would this be enough for them to convince them it was best not to speak" What would become of the world then" Even if Elrond refused to believe it was Thranduil, he would have to admit it had happened. But where had it happened" Thranduil's guest rooms" Glorfindel was still pondering when Erestor came in fully dressed in a set of dark gray robes. They filled out slightly in the front, something most wouldn't notice. "Erestor, I'm sorry. I was being pushy." "Its fine, thank you for the lunch," Erestor said sitting down across from Glorfindel. "It was nothing, so I was wondering have you gotten new robes for later?" "You mean when my girth expands" No. I am not looking forward to seeing the tailor." "Why?" Glorfindel asked suddenly thinking that maybe he could be Erestor's former lover and Elrond wasn't as mad as he thought. "You saw how the healers treated me, who says the tailor will be any different?" "Well he has always been quite a free spirit. I'll go with you," Glorfindel said, instantly feeling bad for partially doubting Erestor. "We can go after lunch." "I suppose," Erestor said not really wanting to but already tired of arguing with Glorfindel. He had never realized how pushy the blond was. "I"ve been wondering, how far along are you?" "I?" Erestor stopped a moment to count. He knew when the baby had been conceived of course. It had been nearly two moons when he collapsed in the study, then another two of living this strange life. "Next week shall make it four months." "I know the circumstances aren't the best but aren't you even a little happy about this?" "Even if I forget how it happened, what kind of life will it have" Most likely banished from all Elven realms along with its abnormality of a father, a name I could never deserve. It's strange, Tella asked me something and I realized something I never knew." "What is that?" Glorfindel asked. "I never had any traditional friends. When I watched the twins play I had simply assumed I had forgotten those times. But the truth of the matter was there were no such times. In all logic I should have been a very depressed child, maybe even had faded. I reached my majority never noticing it. I had a very happy childhood. This was simple chance. Nearly a century between the births of children was nothing strange. Now be a child born who has no friends not because there are none, but because parents will not let their children associate with the likes of you. What kind of a life will that child have?" "Erestor you don't know that will happen. Besides you said you were happy," Glorfindel countered. "Now, add to that that there are no scribes or artisans to spoil this child. There are not even two parents to make sure the child is loved and distracted. There is no one but an abnormality that forces them to live on the edge of all Elven society. And I ask you again; what kind of a life will that child have?" "You could be enough for this child. The two of you could be an inseparable pair," Glorfindel said wishing he could add himself to the mix but he was not a complete fool. Foolish yes, especially in the presence of Erestor but not a total fool. "A father, with no way to provide for this child" A father who knows nothing about raising children" Don't babies need milk" Will my freakish body provide that as well or will the child starve never having the chance to be hated?" "Erestor," Glorfindel looked, down away from the elf sat across from him as he spoke his next words. "Why don't you lie" Say that you"lied'say?" Glorfindel mumbled not liking the words as he uttered them. "Even if I wanted to, it's too late. If it had been a private matter between Lord Elrond and myself there may have been a chance for such a lie. I should have known better than to ever say anything at all, but Elrond's talk of bonding threw me. I did not know what else to say." "It was a foolish thought. I just do not want you to suffer," Glorfindel said and had he been looking at Erestor he would have seen the baffled shocked expression that crossed his face followed by a faint smile. "So this is what it is like," Erestor mused. "What what is like?" Glorfindel asked finally looking up confused. "Having friends, it feels like having a family all over again." "That is what friends are, a second family. Sometimes they become closer than blood," Glorfindel said thinking of all the friendships that he had had over the ages. "Closer than family" But how?" "Come now, even you had to have times when you wished for others to speak to. Things you didn't want to discuss with your family. When you neared majority?" "I had questions yes, but asking anyone other than my parents seemed strange. No matter how sensitive the topic." "Than you truly were a lucky child. Few feel they can be that open with their parents. I know I didn't. They were kind enough but they seemed so"I don't know, different from me when I was nearing majority. I could not believe they would understand." "But they had gone through the same thing," Erestor said confused. "But it was so long ago for them" Could they truly remember" Looking back on it now, it would clearly make more sense to confide in an adult and not in someone just as confused as I was. But at the time it seemed the most intelligent course of action," Glorfindel said with a laugh. "You were a strange child then," Erestor said with a rare smile. Glorfindel's grin doubled but he didn't have the heart to tell Erestor that he was the one who was a strange child. Even if it was the truth. "We should go to the tailor," Glorfindel said, looking at Erestor's empty plate. Erestor's face fell and Glorfindel noticed. "Well, it isn't imperative right now. How about a game of chess instead?" Glorfindel asked. "Yes, I have an old set. It was a gift from the artisans. So the King and Queen are the Lord and Lady," Erestor said standing and walking over to a chest. He brought out the set still in perfect condition even after all this time. "These are beautiful," Glorfindel said admiring the pieces. "Well I don't know about this warrior {knight} here. He looks odd." Erestor smiled, "I think you should turn it over." Glorfindel did as was told and read the tiny inscription. "Glorfindel of Gondolin." "Oh, well it looks nothing like me," he muttered. "Well they had never seen you." "Did they make one of you?" "Yes but it is an extra piece. I had just started learning so every other day another piece was my favourite. They just made a little Erestor and little attachments so I could change his standing." Erestor said, taking out a tiny box. Inside was one Erestor piece and a tiny crown, sword and a quill to identify Erestor's three favourite pieces. "Do you want to play with it?" "No, I will have enough trouble remembering the rules. I haven't played in ages." "Alright," Glorfindel said arranging the white pieces on his side. He had noticed the "Erestor" piece was black. "Must have always liked dark colors," Glorfindel thought. It had taken nearly two months for the messenger to arrive and he simply couldn't believe what he was reading. At first he had assumed it to be a simple note recalling the twins. But not this. Thranduil, I have some very disturbing news for you. After you left Erestor made some horrible claims against your person. I have no idea why he thought I would believe his lies, except maybe he knows nothing of our past. Word has spread like wildfire through Imladris and I would not be surprised if word had already reached Mirkwood. Erestor is with child and has no prospect of a bonded mate, but even worse he claims rape and that you were the one to do the foul deed. Rest assured he has been dealt with. He has lost his position of Chief Advisor and will be banished once the child is born. It is my hope that by then I will have been able to find the true father and give him the child. Luckily your name has been kept out of it. I do not know what Erestor will do once outside my realm and I would be remiss if I did not warn you. I do not know if he has shared his claim with anyone else but it does not seem to be the case. Lord Elrond of Imladris. Thranduil stood shakily as he folded the letter and slipped it inside his tunic. It would be of no good if others saw this. He sighed, things had been going so well. He had thought it would have been so simple. All the pieces had been falling into place and now this. He went to the archery field sure that would be where he would find his son and the twins. He was not disappointed. Though they were not practicing archery. Legolas had Elrohir pinned, at least he thought it was Elrohir. "I have you now fair prince." "But Legolas, you forget I have four hands," Elrohir said with a grin as Elladan grabbed the blond and fell backwards as Elrohir climbed on top of the pair. "Now we have you, fair Prince." "If there were only two of me," Legolas whined. "But then I would have been driven as mad as old Elrond," Thranduil said making his presence known. "Ada!" Legolas exclaimed, embarrassed to be pinned between both twins. "Hello son," Thranduil said, kneeling so he was at eye level with his still pinned son. "I see you are keeping the twins entertained?" He said with a smile. Legolas looked at his father, about to reply when suddenly he grinned. Thranduil was about to ask what was so entertaining when he was hit on the head with a roll. He grabbed the piece of bread knowing there were only two people who would dare to be so bold. And one of them was pinned between Elladan and Elrohir. "Viiresse," Thranduil said without turning. Though the twins finally released Legolas in the presence of his mother. Still shy around the Queen they did not often see. "Well," Viiresse said, balancing the basket on Thranduil's head as if it was the most natural thing. "I brought you three lunch as you have been here since early morning. Oh and husband," Viiresse said finally addressing the kneeling King. She handed Legolas the basket as her son sniggered. "Two have returned from the borders. One was injured and the other poisoned in a spider attack. I have already dispatched two new guards and they will return with the escort once he has rested." "That is good," Thranduil said standing in one fluid motion and slipping an arm around his wife. He turned to kiss her and Legolas groaned. "Ada, Nana, must you do that where I can see?" "No one is forcing you to look," Viiresse replied with a smile then went off with her husband. "I have something important I need to tell you," Thranduil whispered to his wife, while at the same time wondering if he should keep it quiet. They walked back to the palace, leaving the younger elves to their fun. Once in his private study Thranduil paced for a while and Viiresse watched him calmly. Finally unsure of how to say the words he simply handed her Elrond's note. He watched her face as she read, her features going from confusion, to shock, finished off by anger. "I would ring that elf's throat," Viiresse hissed. "Calm down, I think Elrond is making his life miserable enough." "But to accuse a King of such a high crime. The nerve," Thranduil simply shrugged and extended his hand for the letter. "It doesn't matter, he must realize no one will believe him. I'm sure by now he's even taken it back," Thranduil said placing the letter on his desk. "The messenger took two months to arrive." "I suppose, you are awfully calm." Thranduil laughed and pulled his wife into his arms. "If Elrond himself couldn't tempt me away from you why would that boring Erestor" It is all laughable." "I married a strange one," Viiresse said causing another burst of laughter from Thranduil. "You" At least I have never used your head as a table top," Thranduil muttered smoothing his hair. ******* Erestor set out for his walk as usual. For the first time his mind was far from Elrond as he thought about Glorfindel and their chess game the day before. The elf had been extremely patient as Erestor tried to remember which way the pieces moved, constantly confusing them. Erestor realized he hadn't played a game of chess since coming to Imladris. "Of course, who would I play with," Erestor thought. Unknown to him he was being followed. By more than just fruit throwing elves. Glorfindel slinked through the gardens like the trained warrior he was. He was quite a distance from Erestor, trying to find out who his attackers were, when he saw a group of elven youth. Just nearing their majority by the looks of them. He saw the buckets in their hands and wondered if the kitchen staff was going along with this or if it was waste from their own homes. There were four of them and they were oblivious to Glorfindel as he listened to their conversation. "My Ada said he's not really male if he can get pregnant." "My Nana doesn't even call him "he" she says she doesn't believe that stain on elvendom has the nerve to show its face anywhere." "Well lets show him," One said, taking a hand full of slop ready to toss it onto Erestor's face. "We had cabbage for dinner." "Toss it quick," The young elf said holding his nose. He raised his arm and stopped as his arm was grabbed. His eyes followed the arm that was holding him and he nearly fell over. "Lord Glorfindel!" The elf exclaimed. "What are you doing?" He growled not letting the elf go. "Um, well he's not welcome here so we just wanted to let him know," The elf said and Glorfindel's frown deepened. He looked at the elves, each had a bucket filled with different food stuffs. He looked over at Erestor who had a dazed, distant expression in his eyes. Glorfindel wondered what could be on Erestor's mind but retuned his focus to the young elves. "Have you even reached your majority?" "I will," The cabbage thrower said proudly. "Next month." "Woe to elves if you will be called an adult in another month." Glorfindel said. He grabbed the bucket of cabbage and poured it over the young elf's head. He quickly did the same to the other elves who were to stunned to stop him. "Now get out of my sight!" Glorfindel exclaimed and the elves ran away as they tried to pluck spoiled food out of their hair. Erestor having heard the shout walked over to the shrub and was standing behind Glorfindel who chuckled. "What are you doing?" Erestor asked. "Hmm?" Glorfindel asked innocently, shoving a bucket under a bush. "Nothing, care if I join you?" "Oh, um alright," Erestor whispered as Glorfindel came out of his hiding place. "You may regret it later." "What" Why" I like your company." "Do you also like being bathed in spoilt food?" "Oh," Glorfindel said running his fingers through his hair. "I don't think we have to worry about that." Erestor shrugged and walked with Glorfindel. Longer than he usually did; now that he hadn't been attacked by foodstuffs. Elrond watched the two walk and frowned. He didn't like this at all. Erestor was costing him a friendship he held dear. At first avoiding discussing Erestor had been a temporary solution. But now they could barely exchange 3 civil words in a day. He had to find a way to stop this friendship. Glorfindel stood in Elrond's study wondering what the Elf Lord wanted. He had been surprised to be summoned away from Erestor's room none the less. His mind was still on the other elf as Elrond dismissed Figwit and his gaggle of harpies before he pointed for Glorfindel to sit. Glorfindel crossed his arms over his chest. "I will stand. What do you want?" "What happened Glorfindel" Are we no longer friends?" "How can I be a friend with someone I don't know?" "What do you mean?" Elrond asked, frowning. "The Elrond I thought I knew would never act like this. It is good none of your children are here to see this side of you." "He is lying. Why are you so quick to believe him?" "Why are you so quick to dismiss him?" Glorfindel asked in a similar tone. "Would you be so easy to believe him if he had claimed it was I?" "You would never do such a thing." "Nor would Thranduil. My convictions are as sound as yours." "If not Thranduil, then what about another elf" Why will you not even consider that this foul deed actually took place?" "Why will you not consider that Erestor has or had a lover" Why is that so hard for you to understand?" "The only thing that is hard for me to understand is how you can allow an Elf to be molested day in and day out. How you can turn a blind eye as he is nearly killed by some foolish children, and then have the nerve to claim you are a kind and just Elf." "Glorfindel how would a broken foot kill an elf?" Elrond asked, losing patience. "Did you happen to notice that he was soaking wet" Some Elves had tossed him into the river. And before you say it, he can't swim." "What kind of Elf can't swim?" Elrond asked, disbelieving. "Are you truly planning to throw a newborn Elf and Erestor out into the wild?" "He can go to another realm, and what makes you think I would actually leave the child in Erestor's care?" Glorfindel narrowed his eyes, staring at Elrond. He just didn't have words for this Elf, each moment Elrond stunned him more and more. Elrond not only wanted to banish Erestor but he also wanted to take his child away from him" Would this madness never end" "If it is not about Imladris" defences, or a similar matter do not bother me again," Glorfindel growled and marched out of the room. Elrond frowned but was not deterred. There was more than one way to kill an orc. He stood and made his way to Erestor's room. Why was this one lying elf causing so many problems in his realm" Next his sons would return and side with the liar, or something equally as disturbing. He stood at the door to Erestor's room and listened before opening the door. He heard nothing and walked into the room confident that Glorfindel was elsewhere. Erestor was standing in his room and had just pulled off the soiled robe when he heard a slight sound to his right. He turned to the door and saw Elrond standing there arms crossed staring at him. "So Erestor, you desire me?" "What?" Erestor whispered stepping backwards not liking the tone of the Elven Lord. Elrond shoved Erestor up against the wall and whispered into his ear. "You desire me," He said then placed a sensual lick on Erestor's ear. Despite his shock Erestor couldn't help but moan into the touch. "I knew it, nothing but a common whore." "No I?" Erestor's words were cut off by a bruising kiss to his lips. Elrond's hands were forcefully pulling off his leggings. "Wait I?" Elrond's only response was to spin Erestor around, press his face into the wall and cut away the offending leggings. "Wait"please'no'stop?" Erestor whispered as he heard a rustling of a robe behind him. "Don't you want me" Haven't you desired me for millennia?" "Not like this," Erestor whispered as a hardness pressed against his entrance. "Please not like this?" Erestor pleaded as his body was forcefully entered. "But this is just how you like it. You said so yourself," Elrond growled into his ear. "You enjoy it," he said pumping Erestor's already hardening shaft. "Not like this"please'not like this?" Erestor murmured as Elrond shook him almost violently. Erestor's sleepy eyes focused and he stared with undisguised fear at Elrond. "Wake up!" Elrond hissed, annoyed. Erestor shoved Elrond out of his way, knocking him on his behind as he ran into the other room. Elrond stood enraged and followed Erestor before hearing retching. Elrond shook his head and made his way back into the study. A few minutes later Erestor walked back into the room staring at the floor as he made his way back to his seat. He poured a glass of water and took a sip but did not sit as he started to remove his robe. "I'm not here to examine you"why were you just ill?" "Dream," Erestor whispered, still unable to look at Elrond. "I see. Well it's still early, so I don't recommend a sleeping drought. I came to speak to you," Erestor said nothing, but if Elrond could see his face it would be blank. He was simply waiting for Elrond to continue. "Your relationship with Glorfindel has to stop. I do not want him associating with the likes of you." Glorfindel stood at the door, enraged. However he allowed Elrond to continue, plus a part of him wanted to hear what Erestor would say. He knew what it would be; Erestor would not stand up Elrond. He put down his surprise for Erestor, ready to burst into the room. "I understand," Erestor replied without the slightest hint of emotion. "But?" "But what?" Elrond asked annoyed. "How" I?" "How what" Ignore him, surely you do not need instruction on how to lose a friend." "Of course not, all he has to do is watch you," Glorfindel said now totally disgusted at his "friend". "Glorfindel I was just?" "I Know exactly what you were doing, just get out of my sight until you can act your age," Glorfindel said glaring daggers at the departing Elven Lord. He sighed and turned to Erestor who was still oddly fascinated with his hands. "Erestor?" Glorfindel asked concerned. "Don't worry about Elrond, he's all hot air." "But why would you risk your friendship for the likes of me?" "Because I love you." Glorfindel thought. "Erestor, Valar forbid this happened again to another Elf. Knowing what the supposed, open, kind, Lord of Imladris did, who would ever openly admit such a thing again?" "I see," Erestor said refusing to look up. "And you are much better company," Glorfindel said simply. Erestor looked up then at Glorfindel his disbelief clearly written on his face. Glorfindel not sure on how to prove he was sincere decided to reveal the reason for his surprise visit. "I brought you something," he said stepping back into the hall and returning with an easel, charcoal pencils and a large leather bound sketch book. Erestor watched with mounting surprise. "But why?" "Erestor, you are an amazing artist and I'm sure you didn't have much time before but now I think it would be an interesting distraction." "That it would be," Erestor whispered. "And I have a more selfish reason." "What?" Erestor asked worried pulling away from the gift as if it would bite. "I"d like you to draw me." "Oh," Erestor said with a tiny smile. "Yes I don't want people thinking I look like that chess piece and I don't know anyone who would be better for the job." "Thank you," Erestor said with a blush. "It's you I should thank," Glorfindel said clasping a hand on Erestor's shoulder. The Elf stiffened at the slight touch and Glorfindel quickly pulled away. "So, should I sit for you?" "I suppose," Erestor said taking up a pencil. ***** Legolas pulled Elrohir into his father's study moments before angry footsteps thudded past. The moment they were sure they were safe both young Elves burst into laughter. They had tricked Elladan into believing there was a hot spring then stolen the elf's clothes leaving him with only a maiden's gown. "You think he would have been as angry if we didn't leave the gown?" Elrohir asked, gasping for breath through his laughter. Legolas grinned as he sat down on his father's desk, glad the room was empty. "It has become quiet. What do you think he is doing?" "Getting clothes. Or weapons. One never knows with Elladan," Elrohir said grinning. "Won't he find us?" Legolas said beginning to understand about the twins" connection. "He's much too annoyed and I'm blocking him out. He"d have to truly concentrate." "Or hear you through the door, dear brother," Elrohir and Legolas exchanged a glance as the door slowly opened. They looked at the door and both ran hoping to overpower Elladan, but the Elf was prepared and hooked both elves around the waist dragging them back into the room and shutting the door with his foot. "Elladan, you can't possibly hold us both for long," Elrohir said struggling against his brother who released him. He was distracted by Legolas, his behind to be exact. Legolas gasped as Elladan's free hand went lower. Hadn't both twins told him they didn't see him like that" "Legolas why do you have a note from my father on your behind?" Elladan asked pulling it off as Legolas sighed. Why didn't either of the twins find him attractive" Elladan started reading and his mouth fell open in shock. "What" Does he want us to go home?" Elrohir asked looking at the parchment and then adopted the same stunned look on his face. Both twins stared at Legolas, worry marring their faces. "What?" Legolas asked reaching for the parchment, which Elladan quickly pulled away. "We should go home," Elrohir said, not looking at Legolas. "What is it?" Legolas asked. "We should not have read it," Elladan said refusing to give Legolas the letter. "Why, Erestor?" Elrohir muttered shaking his head as he took the letter to keep it away from Legolas. "Erestor?" Legolas whispered. "You mean your father's shadow?" "Yes," Elrohir said handing Elladan the letter again as they tried everything to keep it away from the Mirkwood Prince. "Just give me the letter!" Legolas huffed. The twins exchanged a worried glance and finally relented. "I don't see what that boring Elf could say to?" Legolas words died in his throat as he read. "I'm coming with you, that Elf is lucky he has two more months of peace." "Two months" We know how to make that journey in one," Elladan said simply. "How dare he?" Legolas said enraged as he tossed the letter on the table. "Let us go pack." "Of course," Elladan said. Elrohir followed his brother silently, not sure what to think. Something about this seemed so wrong. So very wrong. Thranduil and Viresse watched as Legolas and the Twins departed. They were joined by both a Mirkwood and Imladris escort. The Twins and Legolas claimed they just wanted a change in scenery but Thranduil didn't trust them. That was the main reason he had added a Mirkwood escort. He wanted to know if anything strange happened. And he wanted to have someone to watch Legolas in Mirkwood. Virsesse, sensing her husband's distress, slipped her hand into his and placed her head on his shoulder. She whispered into his ear a statement that did not alleviate his fears one bit. "They do not know." "But for how long?" He whispered back. The Twins felt uneasy lying to Thranduil but felt equally uneasey about betraying Legolas" trust. Most of all they truly wanted to know what had happened to their beloved old tutor. Erestor's distance as the twins aged had never bothered them, as they had thought him a boring teacher. But they did trust him and they considered him almost family. A week into the travels the Twins and Legolas set camp, slightly farther away from the rest of the party. They waited a few minutes then put the first part of their plan into action. Elrohir lay down on the bed roll and Legolas climbed on top of the younger twin as Elladan got behind Legolas forming another sandwich. "Why do I have to be on bottom?" Elrohir whined. "Youngest first," Elladan said calmly. "Then Legolas should be here." "And they say you are the smart one," Elladan said with a smile. Elrohir was about to respond with an angry retort when he realized exactly what that would mean. "Oh," Elrohir whispered. Legolas smiled, it had been so easy to convince the twins to this plan sure it would leave them undisturbed and he had his own agenda. Suddenly he pressed his body tight against Elrohir and pulled Elladan down as well. "Wha?" Elrohir whispered. "We are being watched," he whispered hotly into the Half-elf's ear. Then he placed his loin cloth clad crotch against Elrohir's and started rubbing. Elrohir gasped in surprise and pleasure as Legolas continued the slow rubbing affecting both twins at once. Elladan was the first to start with false moans and cries, "Legolas, so tight." Elrohir, on the other hand, was trying not to succumb to Legolas" constant rubbing. He was biting his lower lip and a light blush was covering his cheeks. Legolas smiled and whispered again. "We want to hear you," with that said he licked Elrohir's ear and the twin let out a low deep moan, causing him to flush a deeper red moments later. Legolas grinned and nearly doubled his efforts. "It seems the Princes are more than just friends," an Imladris archer said to his Mirkwood equal. "Let us give them some peace. We have left the true dangers of Mirkwood behind. They will be fine for a few hours." Legolas knew they were alone but he was finally starting to effect Elladan and Elrohir was a writhing, gasping mess sure to climax soon. He had his arms wrapped around Elrohir who had his eyes closed and his head turned to one side. The more aroused he became to more embarrassed he was. "Elrohir," Legolas whispered with a smile on his face. "Look at me." Elrohir slowly turned to the other Elf and Legolas kissed a truly stunned Half-elf. "Little brother's shy," Elladan whispered, smiling. "But no more kisses," Elladan said sounding slightly possessive. He had sensed his brother's embarrassment at being aroused and found it funny, but the kiss truly unnerved him. Legolas shrugged as Elladan looked around, straining his ears. As Legolas had predicted they had been given a discreet distance. He stood and reached for his leggings, his arousal nothing compared to Elrohir. "It seems to be clear, though maybe you and Elrohir should finish up," he said with a grin. He let out a laugh when Legolas started rubbing faster and Elrohir actually screamed in completion. A sound that echoed through the trees. "Well if they hadn't left before?" Elladan started. "Quite the vocal range there Elrohir." His brother's only response was to turn bright red and turn away from both Elves as he fought for control of his breath. Legolas laughed as he stroked Elrohir's cheek. He finally had enough of both Elladan's and Legolas" teasing and with a quick buck, tossed Legolas off of him and gathered his clothes as Elladan doubled up in a fit of laughter until his head was pushed into the soft earth. "Elrohir!" Legolas exclaimed shocked. Elrohir simply smirked, until he was tackled by the beast that was his bother and they started wrestling on the forest floor. Quickly Legolas dressed as the twins fought for dominance over the other. Finally Elladan had Elrohir pinned and he addressed the pair. "If you two are quite done I thought the plan was to leave before dawn." Elladan stood offering an arm to Elrohir who took it as he looked around searching for his tunic. Legolas held it out with a grin and Elrohir blushed yet again. "You would think you were a virgin," Elladan said laughing. "Oh just shut up," Elrohir muttered as he pulled a parchment from his bag. "Legolas I need an arrow." "And I thought you had had enough." "Oh for Valar's sake," Elrohir grabbed an arrow from Legolas" quiver and planted a note to the tree. Hours later one of the guards, who was sent to gather the Twins and Legolas, saw the note pinned to the tree. "We decided to take a short cut. See you in two months." The Elf looked at the three signatures and sighed. The twins had spent centuries roaming the woods between realms with the Rangers. They would never be found if they didn't want to be found. ***** Glorfindel smiled as he sat beside Erestor in the garden. The sketch pad he had given Erestor sat on an easel as the other Elf added a background to the image he had drawn of Glorfindel. It showed him sitting at the base of a tree. Now Erestor was drawing Asfaloth at the moment, grazing beside him in an open clearing. It was a beautiful sight and Glorfindel was stunned that Erestor had kept this talent hidden for so long. The only thing that bothered Glorfindel was Erestor's single mindedness when doing a project. The plate of lunch Tella had brought had barely been touched in two hours. "Erestor you have to eat," Erestor popped a grape into his mouth and continued to sketch. "Erestor!" The Elf sighed and finished the last touches on Asfaloth's mane before turning to Glorfindel. He lifted a handful of fruits and shoved it into his mouth. He then took a long drink of his juice never taking his eyes off Glorfindel. "Thank you." "Yes mother." "Was that a joke" Did Erestor make a jest?" Glorfindel asked smiling and Erestor rolled his eyes. He picked up the charcoal and Glorfindel stopped his hand. Remembering Erestor's last reaction he started to let go, but noticed the Elf had no reaction this time. He held the hand for a few seconds longer but still there was no reaction. "Finish your lunch first," Glorfindel said gently, finally releasing the limb. Erestor sighed but continued to eat. As Erestor finished his lunch, Glorfindel took in the changes in the Elf. He was finally starting to show, though it could very well be fat as well as the child. Though humans were the only creatures that he ever saw getting round in the middle. "What are you looking at?" Erestor asked. "You." "Why" You want to have a long stare at the freakish Elf?" Erestor exclaimed, his eyes filling with tears as he took up his art supplies and ran. Glorfindel stared in mute shock. He replayed the scene over and over again in his head and still could not find an answer. He took the plates back to the kitchen and decided to risk asking Tella. "Oh he may get emotional, it is normal if a pregnant Elf. Oh dear, I wonder how he will deal with'never mind." "Deal with what?" Glorfindel asked, curious. "Well I also know that most pregnant elves go through a highly amorous phase." "Erestor" Highly amorous" I wouldn't be surprised if he was untouched before this," Glorfindel's smile faded as he realized that there was a distinct possibility that was true. "I hope not." "As do I." The two turn when Erestor entered the room. He picked up a plate of lembas and a jar of preserves before leaving the kitchen. "Cravings," Tella said before he could ask. TBC...
