Wow. I'm not one for gushing reviews, I'm usually a pretty stern critic, but "Benediction" has absolutely everything I want from a slash fic! It's romantic without being sappy, and the relationship dynamic is really compelling. I like that the fic respects the depth of Arwen's commitment and love for Aragorn. I don't like "Arwen-bashing", and there's no reason why a good slash fic can't handle a little het content - it keeps things interesting. I like that there's actually a plot, and a good one too! Loved the twist. I love the way the impact of Aragorn's relationships with Legolas and Arwen on the people around them is explored, it gives the fic more depth and realism. I like that you kept original canon and just built onto it to build your story, rather than completely throwing canon out the window. I liked the fact that it referred to and was grounded in the book - Legolas's horse being descended from Arod was a lovely little touch, for example. I like that it was well-written and not repetitive or riddled with grammatical errors. Combine all that with hot steamy sex and this is pretty much a perfect storm for me! I'd better stop now before I offer to have your babies. Hope to see more like this :)
