Summary: A response to this challenge by Edan - Anything based on The Hobbit as long as it doesn't take place in an elven realm and has no elves. Preferably should include a dwarf, but I'm not particular.

Story notes: I wrote this several years ago for my friend Jon (AKA: The~Engel.) Now, since I have found this challenge and The Hobbit is finally a film, with a very delectable Kili I must say, I have decided it is time to share it with the world. It is un-BETA-ed (or whatever the word is) so any mistakes are mine. Since I wrote this before the film, it is still (mostly) book-verse. Some of the events in the chapter are inspired by Gecco/Red-Ro's "Of Fire and Stars. (Which I recommend you read.)
