Agree with Ered, Galadriel don't deserve forgiveness that easily! But the chapter was written well, just like this one. Erestor is splendid in this, I like this much more than the Erestor/Glorfindel pair i used to read. Waiting for more.

It is yet another great chapter. You blend all the characters so well. Oropher and Thranduil's talks are always my favourite. I wish they did not have to go for the battle.

Elrond is a noble elf. I wish Erestor sees his love and then they get together finally. Its sad to see Elrond suffering like this.

And I hate Gil-galad. He does not make a good mate for Erestor. Can't wait for more.

Great chapter. I hate Isildur! How can he insult Oropher like that?

Why was Elendil just simply standing by? I wish Thranduil and Anoriel just sailed for Valinor after the battle.

Another thing I like in this series is the deep friendships of Erestor, Elrond, Thranduil, Glorfindel etc. You have made it look so natural.

Great going, but I wish Oropher won't die. He doesn't deserve to die.

Ered beat me to the new chapters! It is simply great, you manage to picturize the sad battle through your characters while underlining their different personalities, Glorfindel is singing and bantering with Erestor. Elrond is noble. Thranduil is brave.

Once again I was reading it from start to end. Marvellous. I mean the way you managed to put together all those threads starting from the 1st sunset in Lindon where Elrond falls in love to the last sunset when they are in Imladris after making love....I was amazed.

It's simply incredible how the characters are made to each have their own personalities and fitting in with the larger pic.

The Song Of Sunset according to me is the single most sensual, touching, angsty tolkien fanfic. LOL! I really feel that your final note describes the fic...

I wanted every character to be grey having their own virtues and failings. Regrets, circumstances and desire make each character in my story what they are.

You have done a great work out there....keep it flowing!

'A stubborn Maglor was worse than a stubborn Feanor' nice line! It shows the character of Feanorians so well. And even in the Heat from the ashes, your Maedhros is a sensitive person. Different viewpoint than usual.

And I enjoyed the scene where Fingon plays the peeping tom. Once more you have shown your skill in making a embarassing situation touching.

Looking forward to next chapters.

Celebrian proves she is her mother's daughter....

""I guess he and I are used to insults by now. The dwarves accused me of charming the men of Laketown.""

Thranduil always gets the right way of saying things. But then he was always the charmer!

"So you say that we introduce Lady Arwen as Elrond's and 'Bria's daughter nurtured and sheltered by very over-protective grandparents in Lothlorien?" Celeborn shook his head tiredly, "With due respect, I must say that Elu Thingol was right. Insanity plagues your house. And this far-fetched idea proves it perfectly, My Lord Erestor."

I agree with Celeborn though I love the Finweans. Before SoS I wasnt into Noldor that much, but you have changed it forever..

Valar are extremly hardhearted! No wonder Erestor is so torn betwn guilt & love. The way you write such situations without making extrasentimental speeches...perfect! AS Ered said, it felt too short.

Loved this chapter. Many reasons why :

#1. Celeborn is a great father trying to help his daughter thru the diffiuclt situation. I felt so much of pity for him. And when Galadriel comes, he doesn't want to let her attend to the labor alone fearing for his daughter's safety. I mean, his situation : torn between his duty as a father and his love for his wife...

#2. Galadriel, hate her or love her, you simply can't ignore her strong character. Phew! She's one courageous lady. Right now I love her...

#3. Elrond and Erestor's scene was perfect, glad to see them finally enjoyin their love!! Hope it lasts before the next tragedy comes.

#4. The conversation betwn Celeborn and Galdreil. I cried, it was so touching...

She laughed humourlessly, “Erestor, diplomacy is not needed here. You have never needed me. My son is grown enough. His father and Cirdan will care for him. And your friend will survive. If he doesn’t, I will not say that he did not deserve it.”

“Take this to him”, she gave the unfinished banner, “I have nothing else. I wish him peace if he can find it.”

As the ship disappeared into the horizon, he sank onto his knees in the sand and buried his face in his hands. He no longer knew what to pray for. He no longer knew which of the Valar to beg.

These lines struck my heart. A powerful chapter. Angst, tragedy and sacrifice. Phew, your words are so intense. Each emotion strikes our core as we read.
